CLASSIC MARBLE IMPEX PVT. LTD. MANUFACTURING UNIT.

Designing the corporate headquarters of Classic Marble garnered a sensitive approach by its makers – Ar. Zubin Zainuddin and Ar. Krupa Zubin. The massive project, located in Silvassa includes a factory shed that spans across 4,00,000 sq. ft. and an office building that spreads over 15,000 sq. ft.

The challenge was to add individuality to different spaces, and eventually lend a cohesive look. The concept was born out of the project’s core asset — marble. “It was decided to use marble in its purest form and strictly adhere to the quality of finishing. We believe that often it is the unseen details that clearly work their way into creating an overall visual impact,” informs Krupa.

The building facade was conceptualized to be a glass and stone edifice. On entering, one is greeted with a 30 ft. high waterfall feature which gives this place a ‘wow’ feel. Glamour also oozes from the dry cladding 30 ft. onyx wall, which is sky-lit during the day and back-lit during the night. This feature juxtaposes light and shadow beautifully, and also helps accentuate the volume of the space.

Finished in pristine white, the display room showcases marble samples along the wall. To add to this aesthetic appeal and to heighten the dimension of the space, a free-floating suspended elliptical structure was placed in the middle of the room. Marble has been used symbolically for its tectonic character to create a sense of space and luxury. The project borders on the line of a sculptural museum and, need we say sells its product almost instantly.

Emkay Stocks & Shares Located in Worli, Mumbai, this office sprawls across 5,500 sq. ft., shows off a muted colour scheme.

The rich interior of this office combines the corporate logo colour (orange), along with walnut and white. The challenge was to develop a technologically advanced space that is well lit, open and comfortable. The design of reception desk is inspired by fluctuations in the graph of stock market. Video conferencing rooms, trading rooms, private and open workspaces, boardrooms, kitchen, the mezzanine and other support facilities are backed by robust infrastructure. A creative palette comprising durable and light-transmitting materials like steel, glass and wood is used effectively. Lighting is pleasing and functional and gives the space its own distinct gradient. The large height of the office accommodates a floating library and server room.

showroom retails gemstones, natural and semiprecious materials aesthetically employ the retail space’s materials to display their product line. The diverse semiprecious stones dazzle their way into different elements from furniture to backlit panels. A medley of these products is deployed as floor pattern that lead the visitors through the space.

The treatment of the space and luxurious material palette ensures that the final space extends a glittering welcome. The unique shelving and strong usage of materials with their opaqueness and translucence lends a distinct feel to the retail experience. The fluid staircase positioned right in the centre has a curved glass railing its flamboyant look stems out of the twinkling semiprecious stones. The space is designed to punch a distinct impression, provide plenty of elbow room and ensure mobility of space. In short, the store packs in an experience that has the visitors hooked.

GUPTA RESIDENCEEnter the Gupta Residence in Goregaon, Mumbai and

you know the home is at peace. The Zen feel is attained by the lucid flow of space, maintained throughout the home; the energy here is calm, yet continuous. The challenge was to play with the structural grid and the restricted existing volume, thereby adding additional spaces and architectural elements to extend and enhance the living experience.

The conservatory, gym, home theatre, open terrace and landscaped areas are a part of these architectural extensions.

The living room designed like a conservatory with glass roof and glass walls is complemented by unique furniture. The kitchen is open, and it’s designed as an interactive space. Its black and white contrast coupled with mini dining area, emphasized with a formal chandelier adds a twist to the straight lines. The gym is an additional area planned facing the terrace. During summer, the place turns absolutely rewarding. It also serves as a congregation space.

The bedrooms are open and play well with the low restricting structural grid. “Wood adds warmth to any space, it’s used throughout to add to the luxurious look of the home,” explains Krupa. Security and mood lighting controls have been integrated in the living, landscaped and master spaces to make the space convenient and impressively practical. Though the house is a new age, smart with exquisite lighting, security, entertainment (all services integrated on a finger touch) — the emphasis clearly lies in the details, and how every corner merged beautifully just like it was imagined.

Nirmal BangThis office in Worli, Mumbai is the

headquarters for one of the highly successful stock brokerage firms. The 10,000 sq. ft. office resonates a language of timeless luxury in the form of its material palette which comprises onyx, sculptural wooden ceiling and leather.

ZZ Architects believe in making spaces that bear the imprints of their client’s personalities. The furniture has been derived to form the company logo; which not only has an aesthetic appeal but also makes optimum utilization of the available space. Inspiration has been drawn from the varying fluctuating graph to create the ceiling which adds a lot of dimension to the whole office space.

“Symbolism of Gandhiji and Rs. 1000 note was too strong to ignore in an environment of this type. We deliberately reinvented the graphic imaging quality to suit the shutters of the overhead storage unit from end to end – the final effect is an elongated Rs. 1000 note,” informs Krupa. The cabins and conference rooms have lighting and security controls; the inviting reception is only the beginning to what follows.

MAHESHWARI RESIDENCEThis contemporary bungalow is spread over the area of 25,000 sq. ft. and is located in the

heart of Indore. Clad in stone and wood, the building exudes a timeless appeal. There is a clear demarcation between private spaces and entertaining zones. A large open garden adds to the aura of the scheme. All central living spaces invite plenty of light due to the strategic positioning of glazing and window systems. The inside space is linked together by a constant flow of an extensive material palette and landscape features. The design language is contemporary and is based on clean lines with emphasis on details and finish.

Vikram HospitalA successful hospital design encompasses

space utilization, hospitality features, patient’s convenience and hi-tech infrastructure. Most of these require high degree of precision. ZZ Architects has designed the hospital which fulfills all the requirements of a modern, contemporary and multi-specialty hospital. Located in Bengaluru, Vikram Hospital is designed to be among the few paperless hospitals in India. This 285-bed hospital is spread over eight floors. The hospital follows the theme inspired by the ECG Heartline Graph.

The signage has been merged with the building elevations. Hence, a visually strong graphic of heartbeat pattern is printed on glass, demarcating the building as a medical facility. In this paperless hospital the information is directly transmitted from the patient’s palm pilot to a Jaotech screen. The Jaotech screen is also used by the patient for video conferencing with their relatives as well as billing process is also carried through these screens.

Each floor is colour coordinated and the interiors follow this with detailed discipline; the colours also help visitors track down different floors. The architectural design of the hospital revolves around the theme of Natural Healing. The hospital is designed in such a way that natural light is available aplenty. Green walls and plantations are an integral feature of this space. The glass usage reduces heat and glare within the hospital. This healing haven caters to both staff and patients’ needs through its flawless design. From the latest technology to the introduction of graphic visual elements, this hospital has defiantly set benchmarks to follow.

With an urge to experiment, and soak in the myriad facets of design possibilities, ZZ Architects truly illustrates that learning never stops, even after you hit the peak.
