The new 0nternal $arket# 0ndustry# ntrepreneurship and +$ portfolio (under lbieta1ieBkowska" will be the engine house of the real economy. There is also for the first time aspecific mention of small and medium-sied enterprises# the backbone of our economy.

The new conomic and 7inancial Affairs# Ta'ation and 2ustoms portfolio (under !ierre$oscovici" will ensure that ta'ation and customs union policies become part and parcel ofa deep and genuine conomic and $onetary 4nion and contribute to the smooth

functioning of the overall economic governance framework of the 4. A strong consumer portfolio has been created. 2onsumer policy is no longer scatteredacross different portfolios but has a prominent place in the portfolio of the 2ommissionerfor )ustice# 2onsumers and &ender ?uality (Cra )ourovD".

As the !resident-elect announced in this speech before the uropean !arliament on EF)uly# he has also created a 2ommissioner specifically for $igration (under ,imitrisAvramopoulos" to prioritise a new policy on migration that will robustly tackle irregularmigration# whilst at the same time making urope an attractive destination for top talent.

A number of portfolios have been reshaped and streamlined. +ignificantly# the
