A Message from the
Mayor of Porthcawl Town Council
We are so lucky to live in a town which is home to several spectacular beaches, especially Rest Bay – a surfing Mecca. Each year we celebrate all that is wonderful about Porthcawl with our annual Carnival. This year, the Carnival will take place on Saturday 23 July and start at Sandy Bay.The theme will be “Life on the Beach”. The procession will be led by the Westside All-stars Comedy Marching band. The Carnival is a celebration of Porthcawl and the unique cultural history the area has. As well as plenty of action for spectators, we’ll have delicious food, colourful market stalls, and lots of rides and children’s activities.Once again I would like to congratulate all those volunteers involved in organising this annual event. So much hard work goes into the Carnival, please come and give your support. What a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of family entertainment at the beginning of the school holidays. I hope you get the chance to come down and enjoy the festivities of the Porthcawl Carnival and enjoy the family fun as well as the holiday atmosphere of Porthcawl with its seaside location. The event is FREE to the public and raises money for local charities.I am confident you will have a great day out!

We will be joined Porthcawl Rock Club ensuring music for all tastes.Friday 22nd July 2016 when we will be visiting all the local hostelries. My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She’s 89 now, and we don’t know where the hell she is.I have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them. The advantage of exercising every day is that you die healthier. If you are going to try cross-country running, start with a small country. I don’t jog. It makes the ice jump right out of my glass.
Thoughts On Exercising The only reason I would take up jogging is so that I could hear heavy breathing again. I have to exercise in the morning before my brain figures out what I’m doing. I don’t exercise at all. If God meant us to touch our toes, he would have put them further up our body. I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

A warm welcome to Joseph PeaceJoseph Peace has been performing and refining his fire stunt spectacular since 2003 and it is now one of the finest small/medium arena acts available. You will be enthralled, laughing one moment and on the edge of their seats the next. All the stunts are Joseph’s own creation. The burning gyroscope, driving round the arena whilst Joseph spins inside, it is pretty mind-blowing and the finale, a leap through a wall of fire wearing just hilarious frilly gold shorts is a real breath-taking moment.

You will be excited to see their electronically powered caveman car and you will be rocking to the stoneage beat. Pre historic comedy at it’s best! Their cheeky cave man ways will make you smile. Let’s go ape for The Pre Hee Men!

Sue called 999 to report that her car has been broken into. She is hysterical as she explains her situation : “They’ve stolen the stereo, the steering wheel, the brake pedal and even the accelerator!” she cried. The operator said, “Stay calm. An officer is on the way.” A few minutes later the officer radioed in. “Disregard,” he says. “She got in the back-seat by mistake.”
“Haven’t I seen your face before?” a judge demanded, looking down at the defendant.
“You have, Your Honour,” the man answered hopefully. “I gave your son violin lessons last winter.”
“Ah, yes,” recalled the judge. “And for that I sentence you to twenty years!”

In Africa, some of the native tribes have a custom of beating the ground with clubs and uttering spine-chilling cries. Anthropologists call this a form of primitive self-expression.
In America, they call it golf.

I am tall when I am young and short when I am old. What am I? A candle.
What is the longest word in the dictionary? Smiles because there is a mile between each s.
What word becomes shorter when you add two letters to it? Short
Wife: “Honey, I don’t like you with the new glasses on.”
He: “But sweetheart, I don’t wear any glasses.”

Fun At The Movies
Last week a man went to the cinema to watch a film, but because of two women loudly chatting together who were sitting in the row in front of him, he was unable to hear the dialogue clearly.
The man leaned forward and said in a stage whisper, ‘Excuse me ladies but I can’t hear.’
‘I should hope not,’ stormed the woman, ‘this is a private conversation.’
