MADULAQUES - SUBURBAN PLATFORMS
final tesis, 2011
“In the contemporary world, functional designs have become abstractions in the sense that they are no longer linked to a specific environment or city, but float and gravitate around the place in an opportunistic manner, offering the maximum number of relationships.”
Rem Koolhas, Euralille
The suburban platforms are parasites because they are implanted on the railway line, capturing the intense flow from the rail stations and become infrastructure because they offer opportunities for “plug” other equipments.
Suburban’s Platforms main objective is the develop-ment of decentralized centralities providing subsidies for concentration of activities and in favor of an evolutionary policentria.
OPORTUNITY
OBJECTIVE
SISTEM
The Platforms are formed from the same constructive module resting on the railway line from the station and expands according to need site by forming a linear system. This system that incorporates internal connec-tion of divided neighborhoods and beyond, enabling new routes.Despite the System generate abstract spaces such structures are intended to be appropriate for each “habi-tat” that are deployed. Its inner space multifunctional al-lows a wide variety programmatic may change accord-ing to need temporal sites. The Suburban platforms are generating large oportuni-nades centralities in the suburbs because if decentered predisposes to generate subsidies for the development of these places saturated offering vacant land and unde-rutilized the train line. The new equipment, which can be public or private, can connect directly with the Platform for its versatile system enables plug-and-play.

Madureira is ranked as the main comercial center and regional structure also is a major intermodal integration areas of the city.
Suburban Neighborhood of consolidated urbanization divided into three areas by two rail lines which hinders the connection between its parts
As a case study for the implementation of the Platform was chosen the neighborhood of Madureira, nodal point between the downtown and the periphery.

TRANS-PORTacademic project, 2010
The Trans-Port is part of the macro-intermodal transport system of the central area of Rio de Janeiro, comprising Airports, Bus Station and the ferry terminal.
Besides receiving vessels national, international, the Trans-Port hosts other functions as the center of com-mercial and cultural hub having an arena theater adja-cent to a large public space for the city dwellers. The extension arm of the pier to the international apor-tamento creates a domesticated bay recepcionando visitors and giving people numerous and changing sce-narios.The outdoor building, which is the station, takes on the role with his informative and attractive facade leds and its implementation in porch. It acts as an articulator of flows from the various means of transport that are there. The project developed in the creation of Trans-Port system attached to the buildings that make up the land-scape of Maua Square - MAR, A Noite, and RB1 - con-tribute in the development of metropolitan character of the same.

LAPA STREET 49 - HOUSING
professional project, 2010
New building on vacant lot located at mid-block, cur-rently with commercial use of parking. The maintenance of existing trees coupled with mor-phological characteristics of the terrain, both defined the linear implantation away from limits, encouraging cross ventilation. In the ground floor, uncovered areas were created, on one side of the building they were collectives, through which were accessed vertical circulations, and on the other side, individual areas regarding the units of this floor. The front of the lot is occupied by linear apartments, one per floor. For the interior of the lot, taking advantage of the terrain and twist boundary between the two types of apartments, duplex apartments juxtaposed modular, 4 per floor, with vertical access every two units. The ground floor units have the collective circulation pre-served, returning to it only ensuring high windows and cross ventilation with openings to the inner courtyard

FIRJAN CULTURAL CENTER OF THE CREATIVE INDUSTRYprofessional project, 2012
Located in Botafogo neighborhood quite busy and high density in Rio de Janeiro, the site was understood as an oasis for possessing a large garden and small built-up areas. This feature, which is rare in the rest of the area, was respected by the project and it was proposed building more than an object of public use but a public space that incorporates the flow of the neighborhood and donates to the garden population, a public square. In order to this the building was designed in 2 orthogo-nal volumes, arranged parallel to the internal boundar-ies, away from the palace, to maintain the permeabil-ity of the outer courtyard designed, the gardens and the flow of people existing.
PUBLIC SQUARE - MACRO SCALE
The project has on a local premise to work with pre existences of the site, such as flows and buildings, empowering them and using them as vectors for the integration of different parts of the project area. The conservation and restoration of the Stable was an important point for defining the structural and formal party building. It serves as the composition axis for the artistic / cultural segment and nodal point for the program by being the reception of the building. A large portico, which reaches 18 meters high, stretches over the preserved house, and “suspends” the main block (corporative and educational segments). The block of the segment artistic / cultural, respects the outer limits of the mansion preserved and extends toward the pal-ace, dialoguing with the same volume through the au-ditorium. Also converses with the terraced houses that establish the connection to the other side of the field.

We take as initial premise work more than one scale, respecting and valuing built-being and the inclusion of the human being. We leverage the underutilized spaces for link them with existing routes, thus giving them the concentrations and fluxes.
Without devaluing the historical context of FAU, who excels in extreme compartmentalization, we understand that today do not meet the long distances so full its us-ers. For it was not broken or emptied think any of path-ways designed to spread the modules, holders of trade and service flows and concentrations giving support to these two movements.
