I am very glad to have this opportunity
to welcome you and your child to my
5th grade class. I look forward to
working together with you to provide
a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable envi-
ronment that promotes successful learn-
ing and positive citizenship skills for
life.
In order for this year to be successful it
is important for the doors of communi-
cation to be open. I am always avail-
able through email, phone and confer-
ences to discuss specific needs and de-
velopmental strategies for your child.

Behavior
Students are required to obey the class-
room rules while in school. Disrespect and
insubordination are not tolerated in the
classroom. The classroom rules are transver-
sal and apply all over the school. If these
rules are violated, there will be a phone
call or note sent home. Based upon the se-
verity of the incident, permanent documen-
tation may be placed in the students’ file.
Classroom Rules
1. Students must remain in their seats at all
times unless instructed otherwise.
2. Come prepared for class with all neces-
sary materials.
3. Rise your hand in order to answer a
question or give a response.
4. Students must respect each other and
the property in the classroom.
Homework Policy
Homework will be given every
night. Homework is to be turned
in daily. The homework will in-
clude reading, language arts,
spelling, math, social studies and
science assignments. The home-
work assignments reinforce what
your child is learning in school.
Homework assignments should
only take 45-60 minutes to com-
plete. Sometimes the homework
can be completed independently
by your child. However, all home-
work should be checked and ini-
tialed by an adult.
