    TIPS FOR APPLYING

IF YOU ARENT SELECTED1) Dont be discouraged.Keep trying almost any senior student will tell you that they didnt always get the rst posi on they applied for! If you dont ndsomething in the Fall, there are more involvement opportuni es that come up throughout the year. Stay tuned for January to April, which is the most intense recrui ng me for the CSS.2) Get feedback. If you are running in an elec on, ask those around you for feedback as to how you can improve. If you are interviewed, email theinterviewer a er as to why you werent selected and what you could do differently.3) Take advantage of what the CSS has to offer.

Just because you dont get a posi on doesnt mean you cant becoming engaged in the Gustavson community. There is so much to do a]end a conference, to go a social event, and par cipate in a CSS service. You will meet great people and may end up nding thatarea that sparks your interest.4) Report if you were treated unfairly. The role of the Senator is to ensure fairness and equity in the CSS. Please report if you experience any unfair prac ces to MehakMehra at [email protected]

    1) Dont be afraid to apply. The applica on and interview process can be in mida ng at rst,but remember you got in to Gustavson for a reason! The peopleon the other side of the table are students just like you, andunlike in the business world, at Gustavson everyone who appliesgets an interview.

    2) Update your resume. Most job pos ngs will ask for a resume, so make sure yours isprofessional and up to date. If you need help, make anappointment at the Business Coop & Career Centre.

Corey Leung, VP Engagement | [email protected]

    3) Think of examples from your previous work/volunteerexperience.Be ready to tell stories and be specic to what you did.

    4) Be aware of me commitment.Make sure you understand the me commitment you are signingup for. For example, in your interview, dont be afraid to ask whatthe average commitment per week will be.
