Who we arePositive Changes is a Stirling Council mainstream, early and effective intervention service
in partnership with Police Scotland. Positive Changes sits within Stirling Community
Planning Partnership; it has a multi-agency (GIRFEC) approach and covers the whole of
the Stirling area.
Our StrategyPositive Changes will engage with young people between the ages of 8 and 17 years
who are at risk of becoming involved in antisocial behaviour or offending. Early and
effective intervention is the priority for the team, who will focus on preventing young
people from being drawn into formal systems of supervision.
Our visionWe want the children and young people who are referred to the Positive Changes Team
to become:
n successful learners
n confident individuals
n effective contributors and
n responsible citizens.
This is in line with the government’s vision for all Scotland’s children.
Our valuesChildren and young people always:
n come first and are at the centre of what we do
n are consulted and listened to
n are included and involved
n are respected and valued
Positive Changes Team
Our desired outcomes
n reduce the number of crimes and incidents of anti-social behaviour
n reduce the incidents of risk taking behaviour such as missing from home and
alcohol/drugs misuse.
n reduce the number of young people entering formal systems.
How we work
We will link with resources, services and activities throughout the Stirling Council area
and work flexibly and consistently with the young people referred to Positive Changes.
The team will identify gaps in service provision and use creative, dynamic approaches to
interventions.
These will include:
n one to one focused sessions with a young
person
n one to one focused sessions with parents/guardians
n restorative practices
n young person’s support/focused groups
n parents/guardian’s support/focused groups
n organise and facilitate professional guest speaker events for young people
such as mental health, sexual health, community safety and young
offenders.
n facilitate, support or sign post, as required, a wide range of diversion
activities within the local community that are affordable and accessible.
n work in partnership with other agencies to support multi-agency residential
activities.
We will agree an action plan with each young person, their family/guardian and all
partner agencies. This will be reviewed on a 6 weekly basis.
