1. Add 's to a person/animal ~ ownership/relationship

Exp: i) the girl’s rings the dog’s kennel Exp ii) her father’s boss the elephant’s trainer

2. a) Add ’ to plural nouns ending in ‘s’ b) Add ‘s’ to plural nouns not ending in ‘s’ ~ to show ownership/relationship

• Exp: the ladies’ hat (plural - ladies) the girls’ cousin (plural – girls)

the children’s shoes (plural-children) the men’s leader (plural-men)

3. Use of ~ show relation/association with a plant, place or object

Example : • the branches of the tree • The roof of the house
