How do I decide on which course ?

• Know YOUR LEVELS – what GCSE and Btec grades are you likely to get ?

EVERY GRADE COUNTS • Once you have applied to College, you will be

interviewed – a chance to ask questions eg; what happens if I do not get a C in English or Maths ?

• Remember – Btec qualifications should lead to employment . Are there jobs available in that sector ?

Research Career Pathways • Did you know that to become a Primary school

teacher : You could take a teaching degree following A

levels and level 3 Btec coursesYou could apply for a TA apprenticeship and

then follow a Foundation degree and a further teaching degree.

But to teach in a Primary school, you must have a grade B in Maths and English

Apprenticeships • You will need to find an employer; there are some vacancies on the

Wiltshire College website or go to www.apprenticeships.org.uk • Monthly database on school website Students Futures Apprenticeships • Apprenticeships have 3 levels : Intermediate, Advanced and Higher. • Advanced or level 3 apprenticeships require you to have Level 2

qualifications – grade C or above at GCSE or a merit in Btecs + grade C in English and Maths

• You will need to take a functional skills test for many Intermediate apprenticeships. Some will require a C in Maths and English

• Polly Wiggins will support you through the process. • TRAINEESHIPS are unpaid . Both work experience and training, for approx 6 months. May lead to apprenticeship
