Post Event Story

The University of Kansas tipped off its 2014-15 women’s and men’s basketball season at

the 30th annual Late Night in the Phog on October 10.

The “Dream On” video started the rally by getting the fans excited for the new season.

Fans reminisced over the video as it showed the final victory against Missouri in 2012.

Bill Self introduced freshman players Cliff Alexander and Kelly Oubre while wearing the

same suit that Andrew Wiggins wore to the NBA Draft.

Self mentioned the 10 Big 12 titles in a row the men’s team has won. “We don’t always

win championships” Self said, “but when we do, we prefer 10 straight.”

The men’s basketball players were divided into two teams, the Crimson and the Blue, for

a 20-minute scrimmage game. The scrimmage ended in a 37-37 tie. Alexander put up 12

points for Crimson and Wayne Selden Jr. scored 17 points for Blue.

Stephanie Silver, a KU cheerleader, said that Allen Fieldhouse seemed less crowded than

last year’s Late Night because the event was held over Fall Break.

Silver said, “Allen Fieldhouse was not nearly as loud as it was last year because none of

the freshman were there to experience Late Night in the Phog for their first time.”
