Page 2: Post production

Most of our text was created before post-production as the main part of our text was the physical filming and

camera work. However, during post-production there was still a fair bit to do such as incorporating in our

transitions and titles. In addition, we also decided to include some more audio so this meant recording voice

overs of our actors and searching for some copyright free sound effects we could also include in our text.

We used the editing software Adobe Premiere Pro to modify some of our work by increasing the contrast in most

of our shots as well as change the colour of our flashback shots to show differentiation between the different time

periods. Moreover, we used the software After Effects to make our titles more interesting and animated to show a

wider variety of skills that linked to our piece.

During the post-production process we decided one particular shot was too long so including a flashback as a

voice over could prove more effective and add variance to that particular shot. Thus, we had to go out and record

this using some new equipment to us. We also sought the help of one of my friends to create our musical score

that would run through the majority of the text. This was copyright free, but was 10 minutes long so we had to

edit and cut this down to find the two minutes that suited our work the best. Finally, we also decided to

incorporate a sound effect over the flashbacks to make it seem more scary and like a thriller thus, we had to find

a suitable sound effect and edit that to slot seamlessly over the flashbacks.

We encoded meaning into our product during post-production by slowing the pace of the beginning right down.

This made the opening sequence flow much better and incorporating the POV and close up shots into this

section helped the audience sympathise with the protagonist. We also cut out a variety of other shots that

weren’t necessarily needed ensuring our work was precise and produced to the best of our ability. We increased

the pace during the middle of the sequence to present the characters frustration but then slowed it again towards

the end to leave the audience again sympathising with the protagonist.
