    Post-Production

After filming we transferred all the clips from the iPhone 5 and put them on a

MacBook Pro. The MacBook allowed us to use the professional editing software

Final Cut Pro X. This software has a wide range of transitions, effects and manyother small features that would enhance our final video. By using this software,

we learnt many different features that may help us when it comes to the final

clip. As mentioned before, Final Cut has many different features that can enhance

a video. One of these is the hundreds of different sound effects that it comes pre-

loaded with. These sounds range from footsteps in the mud to ambient sounds of

an office. While editing we made use of the ambient sound effects, as we had to

delete the previous background noise due to a drumming lesson that was going

on and screaming children in the background. Instead we replaced this with the

ambient sound effect of a busy school. We lowered the volume of the effect so it

played subtly over the top and didnt distract from the action on the screen. This

use of sound effects will be useful in our thriller video and it will be somethingwe will keep in mind.

With this being the only problem we had to encounter, we proceeded to edit the

video. This took us approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. We then decided to

show the video to some of our friends as well as our Media Studies teacher who

suggested improvements that we could add. The first point that came up was the

fact that the sound on the original video was very quiet and the sound on the

whole video had to be turned up. Therefore we went through the video scene by

scene and by using Final Cut managed to make the sound of certain clips louder.

Also in the first 10 seconds of the video, a sound effect of footsteps is prominent

and this had more of an impact than the natural sound. We then had some Year 13 students come and analyse our video who then

provided feedback on what was good and what could be improved on the future.

This was beneficial as we got valuable knowledge on our clip, and how we could

improve it if we done it again. The first point they made was the fact that they

liked our opening Point of View shot that showed James feet as he walked down

the corridor. They suggested that we kept this in our thriller opening. They then

said that they could notice a slight wobble in the second scene and we told them

this could be down to the fact that the camera was held in the cameramans hand

whilst filming and so they suggested investing in a tripod that will keep the

camera steady. We are going to take this advice and will be looking into getting a

tripod in the near future.Overall, if you look at the storyboard and the final video we believe that the final

clip went as expected even if there could be slight improvements in the future.
