Frank Spiker, Bedford Ward 3 Council CandidateBy Frank Spiker, Bedford Ward 3 Candidate

Historic Bedford’s Ward 3 has so much potential. We have jobs. We have beautiful homes. We have entry to the 3,600 acre Glens Metro-park with beautiful hiking trails and numerous waterfalls, including the main Tinker’s Creek Bedford Falls and the historic Arch. We have railroad lines. We have access to Interstate I-271 and I-480. This is truly the best location in the nation! The corridor from the freeway to downtown Bedford needs to be the opening showcase to what can be our beautiful city leading to the commons. I will work tirelessly to beautify and make this happen. Jobs create the life blood for our community. We must create an environment where people want to live and work in Bedford. We must support our existing businesses. New business owners need to be encouraged to come to strategically located Bedford. I will work to make this happen. We need quality programs for our seniors. Our recreation programs must serve all the people. Neighborhoods need to be safe and secure. I will work on

developing “Neighborhood Watch” organizations. I have always believed we must all look after one another. I will work with the Bedford Board of Education to make our schools safe, secure and provide the best education for our children. As a 1980 Bedford graduate, a quality education is extremely important to me! I am a team player and will work with my fellow council members to address the issues facing us now and into the future. As a life-long resident and home owner of Bedford, I have seen many changes that have occurred during the years. Many times I have often wondered, “why weren’t better decisions made?” For example, the valuable corner of Broadway and Forbes (the entry to our city) contains two gas stations, a self-serve storage facility, self-serve car wash and a bus repair garage. Are these the first sights and image we want visitors entering Bedford to see? Along Union from Northfield to Egbert Roads, do the old apartment buildings embellish the environment? Behind them and tucked in behind what used to be Kenny Kings Restaurant is another old yellow brick apartment building. Finally, on Solon Road next to Giant Eagle are the decrypted Wolf’s Cove Apartments with over grown trees and shrubs. The Wolf’s Cove apartment building units stretch all of the way up the hill and cozy in between two homes on Cowles Avenue! Don’t you think this could have been done a whole lot better? I do! We cannot suffer from haphazard decisions. I have a very simple philosophy, do it once do it right the first time. With my degree and experience in Accounting, I know where to look! I am a proud graduate of Bedford High School. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Dyke College of Cleveland. I am dedicated, honest and honorable. I get the job done! I ask for your vote on November 7th. You won’t be disappointed.

FAKE LETTERSBy Robert O. Carson, Esq.

When a foreclosure complaint is filed against a homeowner, his financial situation is revealed because court proceedings are public. Even after a homeowner has a resolved his situation with his Lender, he still continues to to suffer the indignity of an army of hungry but crafty scammers attempting to make a fool of him. This morning I received through the US Mail another Fake Letter which I spotted as fake and you can too if you look at the Envelope for these three signs:

1. an attempt to appear to contain an official and important document inside by such words as “Personal & Confidential;” “Open Immediately;” “Intended for this Individual Only;” and “Delivery Date & Time.”2. does not have a name or return address on the left upper corner.3. for postage states “Postage Paid Permit No.” on the right upper corner indicating a mass mailing.

If you have to be certain, then open the Fake Letter and look for these four signs:

1. must respond by a certain date.2. no name or address of the writer.3. over promises with such words as “New Programs;” “Principal Reduction;” “Reference Number;” and “New Payment Amount” all of which appear too good to be true and of course, are not true or even realistic.4. attempts to appear to have some individual connection with the recipient using such words as “Recent review of your account;” “You are pre-qualified;”“Your Reference Number;” and “Your options.”

You are looking at bait on a hook. If you bite, then you have no idea with whom you are dealing because the only alternative offered is to call the telephone number offered on the Fake Letter. If you have to call, then realize you are calling a Call Center person who will ask you a million questions and tell you very little. Why play the fool and waste your time with “come on” by an outfit looking to take advantage? These letters are known as the written voice of the stranger.DEFEND! Every homeowner is offered the privilege of defending their home in our judicial system, and each homeowner should consider doing so. The reason a homeowner should DEFEND! is simple- there are so many who would profit from a homeowners plight if the homeowner goes on a fool’s errand.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Welcomes Two New Female Gorillas

Guests can learn more about the Zoo’s new gorillas and conservation efforts through exclusive social media as well as during World Gorilla Day

As the inaugural World Gorilla Day on September 24 approaches, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is pleased to announce the arrival of two new female gorillas to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo who will be visible to the public in the coming weeks. “Fredrika” (or Freddy) is a 43-year-old female received from Zoo Miami in Miami, Florida and “Kebi Moya” (or Kebi) is a 26-year-old female who comes to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Powell, Ohio. Both females join the Zoo’s long-term resident “Mokolo,” a 30-year-old male silverback gorilla. The two incoming female gorillas were selected to create this troop based on an examination of their social experience and behavioral characteristics. The intentional social structure of multiple females and a single adult male mirrors gorilla social groups in the wild. The gorillas are in the final stages of a structured introduction process to ensure the success of the new social group. Fredrika and Kebi Moya were first introduced to each other and cultivated a bond over several weeks before being

introduced to Mokolo. The group continues to successfully bond as they establish their social structure and will soon be visible in their habitat for public to meet. Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a leader in gorilla population management and husbandry, leading innovative science and research initiatives. Notably, the zoo hosts the Gorilla Species Survival Plan, which manages 350 gorillas in 48 zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and current Zoo staff members have published more than 40 scientific articles on gorillas. The team has managed Mokolo’s heart disease since it was diagnosed in 2008 through a strict diet and by training Mokolo to actively participate in his own health care monitoring, including regular ultrasounds. Prior to public introduction, exclusive content, updates and behind-the-scenes footage will be shared on Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Facebook page. This will include a weekly Facebook LIVE segment, #FutureForGorillas, with various zoo experts. Viewers will be able to tune in and join the conversation Thursdays at noon. Additionally, on Sunday, September 24th visitors to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo are invited to learn more about the species and celebrate World Gorilla Day at the Zoo’s Stillwater Place. Activities will include talks from our gorilla keepers and researchers, crafts and games, opportunities to take action for gorilla conservation and a video introduction to the Zoo’s new female gorillas. “World Gorilla Day creates the opportunity for people all over the world to come together in celebrating gorillas, and more importantly, to take action to protect gorillas in the wild,” said Kristen E. Lukas, Ph.D. the Zoo’s Director of Conservation & Science and Chair for the AZA Gorilla Species Survival Plan. “We look forward to introducing our two newest gorillas to our community in the coming weeks and working alongside guests to secure a future for their counterparts in the wild.” Gorillas are critically endangered and fewer than 4,500 Eastern gorillas remain in the world. Wild gorilla populations are severely affected by human activity including hunting and the destruction of their habitat to mining and agriculture. The inaugural year for World Gorilla Day also marks the fiftieth anniversary of Karisoke Research Center, operated by The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (DFGFI). Established by Dian Fossey, Karisoke is the longest running gorilla field study site dedicated to the conservation, protection and study of gorillas and their habitats in Africa. Cleveland Metroparks Zoo works closely with The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International through financial support and by working directly to train Rwandan students and scientists in conservation science. Guests unable to attend World Gorilla Day can still join efforts to secure a future for gorillas by: Contributing to the Zoo’s gorilla conservation efforts by rounding up your purchase at the Zoo gift shops, voting for gorillas at the Quarters for Conservation kiosk, or making a donation online at www.futureforwildlife.org/take-action. Visit FutureForWildlife.org to learn more and join our conservation community.

Gloria Terlosky Running for Walton Hills Council The Village of Walton Hills has so much to offer its residents. Low taxes, excellent services beautiful country living and a great place to raise children and many opportunities for seniors.

I know this because I have lived in the village with my family for over forty years and have loved enjoying all this village has to offer. In 2007, I retired from the position of Municipal Income Tax Administrator from the City of Twinsburg after 31 years of service. I was responsible for the collection and overseeing of 18 million of taxpayers’ dollars. As a former Tax Administrator, I know how important jobs are to a community. Jobs are the life blood, no jobs, no growth in a community. I have a zest for life and look forward to meeting new challenges and making a positive difference in people’s lives and continue to strive to keep Walton Hills a premiere place to live and work. Community involvement has been a way a life for me, either through employment or volunteering, not just in Walton Hills but

anywhere there was a need. These are difficult times for everyone, and I feel we need leaders who bring their individual expertise to the table and work together as a team and resolve some of the issues in our village. That is why I have decided to run for a third term as Council At Large in Walton Hills. My slogan is “TIME TO GIVE BACK”. I have the time to give back to continue to work towards stimulating economic growth, protecting the high standards we provide for our seniors, safety for our residents, quality education for our children, high property values and our rural lifestyle. The Islamic Future Destruction of Europeby Guy Millière

European leaders accepted the transformation of parts of their countries into enemy territories. They see that a demographic disaster is taking place. They know that in two or three decades, Europe will be ruled by Islam. Ten years ago, describing what he called “the last days of Europe,” the historian Walter Laqueur said that European civilization was dying and that only old monuments and museums would survive. His diagnosis was too optimistic. Old monuments and museums might well be blown up. Look nowhere else than what the black-hooded supporters of “Antifa” -- an “anti-fascist” movement whose actions are totally fascistic -- are doing to statues in the United States. The terrorist attack in Barcelona received the same reaction as all the large-scale terrorist attacks in Europe: tears, prayers, flowers, candles, teddy bears, and protestations that “Islam means peace.“ When people gathered to demand tougher measures against the rising influence of Islamism across the continent, they were confronted by an “anti-fascist” rally. Muslims organized a demonstration to defend Islam; they claimed that Muslims living in Spain are the “main victims” of terrorism. The president of the Spanish Federation of Islamic Religious Societies, Mounir Benjelloun El Andaloussi, spoke of a “conspiracy against Islam” and said that terrorists were “instruments” of Islamophobic hatred. The mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, cried in front of the cameras and said that her city would remain an “open city” for all immigrants. The governor of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, used almost the same language. Spain’s Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, a conservative, was the only one who dared to call jihadist terrorism by its name. Almost all European journalists said Rajoy’s words were too harsh. Mainstream European newspapers describing the horror once again sought explanations to what they kept calling “inexplicable”. The leading Spanish daily newspaper, El Pais, wrote in an editorial that “radicalization” is the bitter fruit of the “exclusion” of certain “communities,” and added that the answer was more “social justice”. In France, Le Monde suggested that terrorists want to “incite hatred”, and stressed that Europeans must avoid “prejudice”. In the UK, The Telegraph explained that “killers attack the West because the West is the West; not because of what it does” -- but it spoke of “killers”, not “terrorists” or “Islamists”. Anti-terrorism specialists, interviewed on television, said that the attacks, carried out across the continent at an ever-faster pace, will become deadlier. They noted that the original plan of the Barcelona jihadists had been to destroy the Sagrada Família Cathedral and kill thousands of people. The specialists parroted that Europeans will just have to learn to live with the threat of widespread carnage. They did not offer any solutions. Once again, many said that terrorists are not really Muslims -- and that the attacks “had nothing to do with Islam”. Many leaders of Western European countries treat Islamic terrorism as a fact of life that Europeans must get used to -- as some kind of aberration unrelated to Islam. They often avoid speaking of “terrorism” at all. After the attack in Barcelona, German Chancellor Angela Merkel issued a brief reproach about a “revolting” event. She expressed “solidarity” with the Spanish people, and then moved on. French President Emmanuel Macron tweeted a message of condolence and spoke of a “tragic attack.” Throughout Europe, expressions of anger are conscientiously marginalized. Calls for mobilization, or any serious change in immigration policy, come only from politicians scornfully described as “populist.” Even the slightest criticism of Islam immediately arouses almost unanimous indignation. In Western Europe, books on Islam that are widely available are written by people close to the Muslim Brotherhood, such as Tariq Ramadan. Books that are “politically incorrect” also exist, but are sold under the counter as if they are contraband. Islamic bookstores sell brochures calling for violence without even hiding what they do. Dozens of imams, similar to Abdelbaki Es Satty, the suspected mastermind of the attack in Barcelona, continue to preach with impunity; if they are arrested, they are quickly released. Submission reigns. The discourse everywhere is that despite increasing threats, Europeans must live their lives as normally as possible. But Europeans see what threats exist. They see that life is not even slightly normal. They see policemen and soldiers in the streets, proliferating security checks, strict controls at the entrance of theaters and shops. They see insecurity everywhere. They are told just to ignore the source of the threats, but they know the source. They claim they are not afraid. Thousands in Barcelona shouted, “No tinc por” (“We are not afraid”). In fact, they are scared to death. Polls show that Europeans are pessimistic, and think the future will be bleak. Polls also show that Europeans no longer have confidence in those who govern them, but feel they are left with no choice. This shift in their lives has occurred in such a short time, less than half a century. Before then, in Western Europe, only a few thousand Muslims were present -- mostly immigrant workers from former European colonies. They were supposed to be in Europe temporarily, so were never asked to integrate. They soon numbered hundreds of thousands, then millions. Their presence turned permanent. Many became citizens. Asking them to integrate grew unthinkable: most seemed to consider themselves Muslim first. European leaders gave up defending their own civilization. They slipped into saying that all cultures should be viewed the same way. They appear to have given up. School curricula were altered. Children were taught that Europe and the West had plundered the Muslim world -- not that the Muslims had, in fact, invaded and conquered the Christian Byzantine Empire, North Africa and the Middle East, most of Eastern Europe, Greece, Northern Cyprus, and Spain. Children were taught that Islamic civilization had been splendid and opulent before colonization supposedly came to ravage it. Welfare states, established in the post-war period, began to create a large underclass of people permanently trapped in dependency, just when the number of Muslims in Europe redoubled. Social-housing neighborhoods suddenly were Muslim neighborhoods. The rise in mass unemployment -- mainly affecting less qualified workers -- transformed Muslim neighborhoods into mass-unemployment neighborhoods. Community organizers came to tell unemployed Muslims that after purportedly looting their countries of origin, Europeans had used Muslim workers to rebuild Europe and were now treating them as useless utensils. Crime took root. Muslim neighborhoods became high-crime neighborhoods. Extremist Muslim preachers arrived; they reinforced a hatred of Europe. They said that

world. The Blaze also discovered that more than 200 US-government-approved textbooks are used in the UNRWA schools, in Gaza, Judea and Samaria (West Bank), and east Jerusalem; they ignore Israel’s existence and holy sites; ignore all historical connection of Jews to the land; and encourage Moslem students to kill Israelis and become martyrs. Instead of attempting to provide these children with a precious opportunity for a better education and decent future, PBS uses our tax dollars to keep them illiterate, ignorant, and impelled to destroy Israel by martyrdom. It should be noted that UNRWA, The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, is the largest refugee program and the only one established for area-specific aid to Palestinian refugees and their descendants, a number grown to five million. Paid staff includes Hamas members who are dedicated to Israel’s destruction and invite anti-Israel rocket and mortar launches on their premises. Between 1920 and 1970, 900,000 Jews were systematically expelled from Arab and other Moslem countries. The UN did nothing to assist the “major transnational phenomenon,” now referred to as “The Forgotten Exodus” of Jews from Islamic countries. They were ultimately absorbed into Israel, the US, Canada, and France. UNRWA remains a policy of war to keep the Palestinian Arabs homeless and ready to invade and conquer Israel. The students watch a film of an 18-year-old Palestinian terrorist, Mohanned, who, armed with explosives, enters Israel as a suicide bomber but reverses his course and returns home. In the subsequent lesson plan, titled “Martyrdom,” Mohanned is in a jail cell where he explains why he wants to die. “Palestinians are unhappy and prefer to die, rather than live this worthless life.” He adds that Israelis are happy, go to cafes, travel worldwide, and Palestinians can’t leave Palestine,” – words that reveal his psychological state of mind, envy to fuel the flames of resentment and prime these kids for revenge. Another video features one potential terrorist and 25-year-old Majdi Amer, the successful terrorist who built a bomb that killed 17 and wounded 50. Additional videos are shown of young men who share their reasons for becoming terrorists, the dominant messages being that the Palestinians have less land, fewer privileges, more restrictions, or that they attack to avenge an Israeli retaliation. Clearly, these are the lessons’ objectives. There are no interviews of survivors of such terror attacks or their grieving families, of which there is no dearth. They do not consider the centuries of Islamic marauders throughout the Middle East and into Europe, the decades of constant bombardment since Israel became a nation in 1948, the thousands of rocket and mortar attacks on Israel since 2001 that injured more than 1900 innocent civilians, or Israel’s numerous bids for peace negotiations that were rejected by Palestinians. In 2016 alone, there were 12 vehicular ramming attacks and 100 stabbing attacks thwarted by security forces in Israel. From September 13, 2015 to August 2017, 55 people were killed in terrorist attacks and 812 people (including uninvolved Palestinians) injured. There were 184 stabbing attacks and 129 attempted stabbings; 161 shootings, 60 vehicular attacks, and one vehicular (bus) bombing – as well a higher rate of miscarriages, depression, and a 50% increase in post-traumatic stress disorder among young children. Left to his underdeveloped reasoning processes, Mohanned has no way of even considering why Israelis may be happier than he. Raised in an Islamic home of a blame-and-shame culture, where a young girl has undergone Female Genital Mutilation by age 7, to be surgically undone before she marries the older man (not of her choosing) who has already learned to devalue women, Mohanned may be the son of a mother who is not out of her own childhood and ill prepared to care for her babies. Traumatic bonding with his mother, from which he cannot separate and mature, leads the male child to psychotic aggression, anxiety and violence. In this society, the child is someone to be manipulated and abused, imbued with feelings of deprivation, rage and envy of other children. Unable to sustain friendships, he bonds with hard objects – weapons, and his rage is heightened in the UNWRA schools, where the classes are dedicated to hate and to annihilate the object of his visceral resentment while also complying with the obligations of holy jihad. Mohanned has known rigidity and compliance all his young life, with his family, his school and mosque, and the sharia laws enforced by the despotic Hamas, a fundamental terrorist organization, whose name means “violence.” He lives without kindness and learns no compassion, and the obsession with having faces covered during battle practice is obviously a way of not seeing a pained expression or developing sympathy for another child. The children also learn no history about the region, the indigenous Jewish inhabitants, or Israel’s constitution and the Torah, the central laws of Judaism that provide for respect, freedom, and an opportunity for happiness. Although students may be asked about the effect of bombing Israelis, there is no audio/visual material or discussion to present the views of the victims. They receive only the bombers’ views – their achievements – not the pain and death they cause. They do not discuss their own parents who transmit their ideology to their children, with reinforcement in schools and mosques, or the parents of the children who are bombed in schools or exploded in buses. Neither do the teachers divulge the salaries paid to terrorists or the monetary reward given the surviving parents of martyrs. Flooded with this misinformation in a culture that robs them of their childhood, these children may well be eager to end their lives. Having to endure the emotional and physical pain from an oppressive husband/father, subjugated and distraught wife/mother, the children become antisocial, immersed in an unidentified emotional pain, with delusional jealousy and anxiety. As explained by Nancy Hartevelt Kobrin, Ph.D., in her book, The Jihadi Dictionary, they cannot develop sincere friendships, think critically or communicate adequately – except through terror. Any friendship is fictitious because the bond is based on hatred of others. With repeated lessons on how to behave, not what to think, this is exemplary training for a generation of singularly purposed warriors – that terrorism is understandable and justifiable. Michael Getler, American journalist and retired ombudsman for Public Broadcasting Service confirms that PBS provides no lessons on the truth of the region’s history, no chronicle of Islam and Judaism, and no lessons on the immorality of terrorism or aspirations to kill others. Although their corporate communications office has condemned terrorism for the public, it does nothing to incorporate such condemnation in the lessons. Their instructional material continues to omit the impact of terrorism on Israelis, or victims elsewhere in the world, bringing media bias to a new low. Lacking facts and context, but with clarity of purpose, PBS has taken to reinforcing the influence of a blame/shame culture to manipulate these damaged children into terrorists for politics. Not only is PBS an apologist for Islamic terrorism, but it may now prepare the young terrorists for their moment of glory.

Muslims must remember who they are; that Islam must take its revenge. They explained to young, imprisoned Muslim criminals that violence could be used for a noble cause: jihad. Police were ordered not to intervene lest they aggravate the tension. High-crime areas became no-go zones, breeding grounds for the recruitment of Islamic terrorists. European leaders accepted the transformation of parts of their countries into enemy territories. Riots took place; leaders made even more concessions. They passed laws restricting freedom of speech. When Islamic terrorism first hit Europe, its leaders did not know what to do. They still do not know what to do. They are prisoners of a situation they created and cannot control anymore. They appear to feel helpless. They cannot incriminate Islam: the laws they passed make it illegal to do that. In most European countries, even questioning Islam is branded as “Islamophobia”. It leads to heavy fines, if not trials or prison time (as with Lars Hedegaard, Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, Geert Wilders or George Bensoussan). They cannot re-establish law and order in no-go zones: that would require the intervention of the army and a shift towards martial law. They cannot adopt the solutions proposed by parties they have pushed into opposition at the margins of European political life. They cannot even close their borders, abolished in 1995 with the Schengen agreement. Re-establishing border controls would be costly and take time. Europe’s leaders seem to have neither the will nor the means to oppose the incoming waves of millions of Muslim migrants from Africa and the Middle East. They know that terrorists are hiding among the migrants, but still do not vet them. Instead, they resort to subterfuges and lies. They create “deradicalization” programs that do not work: the “radicals,” it seems, do not want to be “deradicalized.” Europe’s leaders try to define “radicalization” as a symptom of “mental illness”; they consider asking psychiatrists to solve the mess. Then, they talk about creating a “European Islam”, totally different from the Islam elsewhere on Earth. They take on haughty postures to create the illusion of moral superiority, as Ada Colau and Carles Puigdemont did in Barcelona: they say they have high principles; that Barcelona will remain “open” to immigrants. Angela Merkel refuses to face the consequences of her policy to import countless migrants. She chastises countries in Central Europe that refuse to adopt her policies. European leaders can see that a demographic disaster is taking place. They know that in two or three decades, Europe will be ruled by Islam. They try to anesthetize non-Muslim populations with dreams about an idyllic future that will never exist. They say that Europe will have to learn to live with terrorism, that there is nothing anyone can do about it. But there is a lot they can do; they just do not want to -- it might cost them Muslim votes. Winston Churchill told Neville Chamberlain, “You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, you will have war.” The same is true today. Ten years ago, describing what he called “the last days of Europe,” the historian Walter Laqueur said that European civilization was dying and that only old monuments and museums would survive. His diagnosis was too optimistic. Old monuments and museums might well be blown up. Look nowhere else than what the black-hooded supporters of “Antifa” -- an “anti-fascist” movement that is totally fascistic -- are doing to statues in the United States. Barcelona’s Sagrada Família Cathedral was spared only thanks to the clumsiness of a terrorist who did not know how to handle explosives. Other places may not be so fortunate. The death of Europe will almost certainly be violent and painful: no one seems willing to stop it. Voters still could, but they will have to do it now, fast, before it is too late.Dr. Guy Millière, a professor at the University of Paris, is the author of 27 books on France and Europe.

Muslims destroying Europe cont. from page 5

It’s been more than 75 years since one of World War II’s worst atrocities — the Bataan Death March

After the surprise attack on the US fleet at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Japan turned its focus to elsewhere, sweeping through the Pacific. In early January, Japanese forces landed in the Philippines, US territory where tens of thousands of American and Filipino soldiers were stationed. Allied forces put up a fight for 99 days, but Japanese pressure, plus a lack of supplies and illness, wore them down, and the 76,000 troops who surrendered — more than 20,000 Americans among them — on April 9, 1942, was the largest army under US command to ever surrender. What followed was one of the most well-known atrocities of World War II: The Bataan Death March, when thousands of Filipinos and Americans died during a forced march to a collection point. Japan’s unpreparedness for the sheer number of soldiers who surrendered, coupled with disdain for surrendering troops and general frustration on the part of Japanese troops, led to shocking brutality during the march. Many of those forced to walk over 60 miles to a prison camp suffered in the tropical heat, which exacerbated war wounds and illnesses. Stragglers, prisoners who broke ranks, or those who fell behind were bayoneted, shot, and, in some cases, beheaded. Japanese soldiers overseeing the march beat their captives mercilessly. After the war, Japanese Lt. Gen. Homma Masaharu, who led the invasion, was charged with responsibility for abuses at Camp O’Donnell by a military commission in Manila. He was executed by firing squad on April 3, 1946.Editor’s comment: For those who want to take a knee for the National Anthem at sporting events either didn’t read history or are to dumb to remember what real American soldiers went through or continue to suffer during war times. As a Vietnam who survived the war zone, I deplore those who think they are making some sort of patriotic statement that says there are people suffering in the United States. The only ones who suffer are those who do not want to get up and seek out the golden opportunities that are available to every one. How many time do we have to have examples of people coming to America to truly find out the streets are all paved with gold. Not in metal, but in opportunities that only limited to your imagination. Opportunities are everywhere! See the pictures below and know why you should be standing and saluting the flag and standing for the anthem of the United States of America. The land of the free and the home of the brave. There is no bravery in taking a knee unless it is to pray!

November 7th is Election Day Many people vote early or with absentee ballots. This is an important year in many of our

communities. During the past several years Walton Hills has made enormous gains because the mayor and the council have been working closely together to keep the budget in balance and making some of the toughest decisions. To upset the balance that is currently working makes no sense. I recommend that the four current members running for office Dennis Linville, Paul Rich, Brian Spitznagel and Gloria Terlosky be re-elected. Bedford has a number of council seats up for election. Marilyn Zolata, who has held the Ward 3 seat for years is retiring. There are a number of good candidates for her seat. I recommend Frank Spiker. He has lived in Ward 3 all his life, graduated from Bedford High and later from Dyke College in accounting. It is imperative you have on council people who understand finance and business. Mr. Spiker is the right person to represent you in Ward 3.

In Ward 5 Heather Rhoades is a clear choice. She has demonstrated her commitment to Bedford in so many ways, but the best example is the Lamson House. She and her husband have worked tirelessly to bring a historical Bedford monument back to its original beauty. If her efforts on the Lamson House are any indication of dedication and work, she will be a great addition to the Bedford Council. Please go out and vote. Every vote counts especially in local elections where the winner can win by one vote. Take time to talk with the candidates. For those who have held the office, ask what they have accomplished while there. Have they kept the campaign promises? Have they cut the cost of government? Have they communicated with you over the years? Have you seen improvement in your ward? What is their vision for the future. We need good people on council. We need workers not people who sit, vote, but never take the time to actually make a difference. When one tries anything can happen. Take a look at those who have been a position of leadership and what they have achieved. How many times have they been recognized for the hard work and new ideas that have been implemented? Anyone can raise taxes, but the truly greats have learned to work with the limited resources and created monumental results. Excellent examples are Mayors Gary Gottschalk, Oakwood Village, Kevin Hurst, Walton Hills, and Mark Cegelka, Glenwillow. They are the model mayors everyone should be emulating. God bless all those who accomplish and work to make our communities great.

Marie Chernek

As Fall Nips the AirBy Marie Chernek

I take the long walk down the driveway this crisp October morning, watching the early signs of autumn burst open. When I reach the mailbox, I wish for the mail of earlier years. The cards and letters that we held in our hands, anticipating the good and sometimes the bad news of our friends and family, far and near. It was a time when communication was treasured – a lengthy call from a friend or the newsy, thick letter detailing one’s life. My introduction to the art of the letter came from my Aunt Veronica. She was my mother’s eldest sister, who lived in upstate New York. Aunt Veronica was religious about sending letters to my mother. I see my mother in the kitchen, sitting at the laminated table with the spurting sound of the coffee peculator on the gas range flame behind her. She pours herself a cup of coffee and spends the next minutes immersed in the delight of this written conversation. When my mother finishes with the letter, she fills we children in on the contents, and encourages us to read the letter ourselves, leaving it handy on the kitchen table for days. I started my own letter writing in grade school, hurrying home after a long day, ready to share my innermost thoughts with my best friends. I would pull out my Holly Hobby stationary and write away the trials and tribulations of grade school life and loves. Of course, every letter stamped with the Hallmark wax seal. I continued writing letters throughout my life, and for one of my special birthdays, I received a beautiful package from a dear lifelong friend. It contained a huge bundle of letters from ninth grade when we met until that special birthday many years later, all letters signed “Sister Marie Elena Ethel”. Yes, a reference to my very paltry dating life. This gift of letters still remains the most treasured gift I have ever received. I walk back up the driveway, go into my house and open desk drawer – take out a piece of stationary, and write Dear. . .

Presentation on Crime Prevention and Personal ProtectionBy Ron Borsch

At a 2016 council meeting, some Bedford residents called attention to their concerns on rising crime in the city. As a public service, the local PACT Consultant Group volunteered to do a presentation on both crime prevention and Personal Protection for the Thinking Person©. On September 6th 2017, Ron Borsch, manager of PACT, did a two hour presentation at the Bedford Recreation Center. The 50 attendees were encouraged to use their smart phones to help police with documented pictures or video activity of suspicious person’s, their car’s license plate and for the fast paced PACT presentation, to capture any of the PowerPoint slides they thought important. Topics ranged from awareness, through empty-hand defense, factually neutral intuitive profiling of strangers, fine motor skill stress, foreknowledge, freeze-flight-fight, how victims are selected, “Left of Bang”, mental rehearsals, mind-set, multi-missing, neighborhood crime prevention, “OODA Loop” decisions, protection products to avoid or buy, preparing a home safe room, recognizing danger clues, understanding use of force tools and life’s most important question, “What’s Important Now”? The presentation included recommended follow-up on specific Internet videos and articles, certain books and a popular question and answer period. Mr. Borsch is a 47 year retired police officer, law enforcement and SWAT trainer, author of numerous published articles, four chapters in three books, a member of board of advisors for SchoolGuard.com, (a smart-phone “app” for police and teachers), and Viet Nam veteran. His nationally recognized expertise is police response to Rapid Mass Murder© by active killer in public places and recommending on-site facility safety and security protection. For local qualified civic groups, (such as schools, churches, etc.), the PACT Consultant Group does pro bono presentations on various topics and may be contacted by E-mail at [email protected]

Walton Hill Endorsements by Mayor Kevn Hurst Numerous residents have asked questions about the upcoming November 7th election. They want to know who the candidates are for Council and who I support to fill those Council seats. I have thought about who I’d endorse for quite some time. I had to take into account many different factors including, who amongst the candidates has the best interest in serving the Village of Walton Hills? Who demonstrates the most concern about our Village? Who has engaged in the many discussions concerning the state of our Village? Do the candidates have a passion for making useful, helpful decisions for the betterment of our community? Who regularly attends meetings concerning the budget? Of the candidates, who would best serve our Village during the next four years? I can say that without a doubt, that the four best persons to serve the Village of Walton Hills during the next four years are: Mr. Brian Spitznagel, Mr. Paul Rich, Mrs. Gloria Terlosky and Mr. Denny Linville. Those are the four that I firmly support and am endorsing for the upcoming election. They have served our community well, keeping the best interest of the residents in mind. Our community deserves a Council that will listen and make fact-driven decisions and not selfish decisions regarding our community. The Village of Walton Hills can only survive and thrive with caring, accountable persons on Village Council. Again, I will endorse and continue to support Mr. Spitznagel, Mr. Rich, Mr. Linville, and Mrs. Terlosky to serve as Council members during the next four years.

goal is a plan that reduces tax rates as much as possible, allows unprecedented capital expensing, places a priority on permanence, and creates a system that encourages American companies to bring back jobs and profits trapped overseas. And we are now confident that, without transitioning to a new domestic consumption-based tax system, there is a viable approach for ensuring a level playing field between American and foreign companies and workers, while protecting American jobs and the U.S. tax base. While we have debated the pro-growth benefits of border adjustability, we appreciate that there are many unknowns associated with it and have decided to set this policy aside in order to advance tax reform. “Given our shared sense of purpose, the time has arrived for the two tax-writing committees to develop and draft legislation that will result in the first comprehensive tax reform in a generation. It will be the responsibility of the members of those committees to produce legislation that achieves the goals shared broadly within Congress, the Administration, and by citizens who have been burdened for too long by an outdated tax system. Our expectation is for this legislation to move through the committees this fall, under regular order, followed by consideration on the House and Senate floors. As the committees work toward this end, our hope is that our friends on the other side of the aisle will participate in this effort. The President fully supports these principles and is committed to this approach. American families are counting on us to deliver historic tax reform. And we will.”Editor’s comment: The only way to pay off all of the national debt that has been created over the past several years is to grow the economy. Any attempt to pay off the debt directly shrinks the money supply and creates a recession. Growing the economy puts more people into the workplace to pay more taxes directly to the government. That growth in revenue does many things, but the most important is the creation of wealth. This country is one of the few places on earth that understands that wealth can only come from people working, building a home, furniture, appliances, etc. That’s what makes the world go around. The one good thing you can credit the Federal Reserve for was during the past 8 years debt was increased in order to keep money in circulation. The interest rates being so low that saving money was meaningless and spending kept the economy in motion. Creating debt and money cannot go on forever before as in Germany in the 1920’s the monetary system collapses. Growth in the economy is the only way for the American system to work. High taxes stalls investments. Low taxes allow people to spend more on everything, but most importantly everyone benefits.

Oakwood Clerk of Council receives the coveted Athenian Leadership Society Fellowship

Through years of hard work and determination, Mrs. Debra Hladky, Oakwood Council Clerk, has achieved the Athenian Leadership Society Fellowship through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC). The Athenian Leadership Society focuses on helping Municipal Clerks develop critical thinking skills and increase their leadership ability. This is done through dialogues which exceed the usual knowledge recall and application process by exploring principles and practices of past and current leaders in various industries. These leadership dialogues provide valuable knowledge, vision and understanding to build increased leadership skills to benefit the Village of Oakwood and its Council. The leadership skills Mrs. Hladky learned though her studies have been used to assist other Clerks in discovering their leadership styles. She is also a Hawthorne Valley Youth Council (HVYC) administrator and advisor to students in the Bedford City Schools which guides the youth in the program to understand the leadership roles and opportunities they have in the community, while educating them on Local and State Government processes. Mrs. Hladky resides in the Village of Oakwood with her husband and has three married children and grandchildren who still reside in the area. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and spoiling her grandchildren.

Houston Aid con’t from page 1 Zenex Corporation donated $10,000 worth of cleaning agents, disinfectants, insect repellent, and paint remover. Bishop Macon and his son, Larry Jr. , were directly involved with creating this effort. Mt. Zion hired the trucks to deliver all of the donations. In addition to all the goods Mt. Zion also provided all of the angels who helped. God bless all of them.

Mt. Zions wonderful volunteer angels. No one appreciates an angel until we are truly in need. These lovely ladies worked tirelessly to separate everything and prepare for shipment. Thank you for being so wonderful.

The talented, Jasmine Monroe, from Chanel 3 News interviewed Pastor Larry Macon Jr. He told her of all the effort to help those in need in Houston, Texas. I personally want to thank Jasmine. I locked my keys in my car and she was able to reach in and unlock to door. She is a beautiful angel who came at the right time!

Some of the heavy lifting angels! Everyone pitched in and moved as fast at they could. Petitti’s also donated plastic wrap and pallets. I also donated plastic wrap from home that came in handy.

Before & After on the KitchenBy Heather Rhoades

One of the best things about renovating a house is seeing how far you have come. And one of my favorite places to see progress is in the main kitchen in The Lamson House. When we first moved in, the first-floor kitchen was not functional. All we could get to work was one gas burner that had two settings, off and rocket. Which was good enough to boil water for pasta, but not so great for any other kind of cooking. And I love to cook, so this kitchen had to go. It was very apparent that the kitchen on the first floor had been renovated sometime in the late 40s and that not much had happened with it since then. The kitchen still had cabinets that were all Republic Steel and the appliances were all higher-end appliances from that time period. Even the floor had linoleum that

looked to be from that time. As I am not one to waste anything, we posted the appliances on Craigslist for a small fee. Appliances from past decades are popular but hard to come by in certain renovation circles, so it seemed a shame just to toss them. But oddly, it was not the appliances that ultimately attracted the attention of the renovator who took them, but the Republic Steel cabinets. It turned out that this gentleman had already salvaged a set of Republic Steel cabinets out of a house in Lakewood, but did not have enough to finish his wife’s dream 1940’s style kitchen and was absolutely

at a loss as to where he would find them. And that was when he spotted the edge of our cabinets when he was looking for appliances on Craigslist. So, the cabinets and the appliances all went to be refurbished and now reside in someone else’s dream kitchen. Waste not, want not – as they say. Over the course of a year, we continued to work on our own dream kitchen. We put in new flooring, cabinets and appliances, then we added special touches that made the kitchen our own. I am happy to say that we now have a fully functional and beautiful kitchen where I am able to cook all sorts of wonderful things.

shortly after the announcement in 2013, to answer any questions they may have regarding the future closing of the plant. Also in attendance at that meeting, were several investors inquiring about purchasing the property. The process of informing different groups about the upcoming changes to the Ford Plant lasted well into 2014. We also attack the possibility of this property becoming a warehouse facility for FORD. With that said in 2014 we (meaning the Village Council and I) explored the opportunity to change the zoning in this corridor of our commercial area. With that we interviewed and hired a planner to address our concerns and prepare the zoning change to mix-use. In 2015, we finalized the closing of the plant. Since that finalization, the Village of Walton Hills has been invited to Washington DC three times to discuss a variety of manufacturing-related issues, not just in Walton Hills, but around the country. Recently I was invited back to our nation’s capital. I attended a conference at the White House geared towards building better relationships between municipal governments and the federal government. The event was a great opportunity for me to get contact information for leaders in Washington DC and create lasting relationships with them; relationships that should benefit the Village of Walton Hills in the future. When the Ford Plant announced that it would be closing, the Village of Walton Hills took a closer look at the Chrysler Plant closure in Twinsburg to learn from that, and see what our Village could do differently to make the closure in Walton Hills go relatively smoothly. There are a few differences, however, between the Chrysler Plant closure and the Ford Plant closure. For example, the Chrysler Plant was closed because the company filed bankruptcy. Because of the bankruptcy filing, the Chrysler Plant was allowed to simply “walk away” from a lot of responsibility. It has taken a little more than 12 years to tear down and rebuild and the land is only 78% occupied. There is some unbuildable land at the Twinsburg location due to possible contamination. A Ford Plant closed in Wisconsin 13 years ago. That plant still has all of its machinery on site. Currently, the building is just a large warehouse for the Ford Motor Company. Closer to home, the Ford Plants in Brookpark and Lorain have had many sections of those properties reduced or closed; they too have been empty and non-productive for several years. Now, let’s take a closer look at our situation in Walton Hills. The Walton Hills Ford Stamping Plant closed in February 2015 and in 2016 all equipment, supplies and inventory was cataloged and auctioned off to be shipped off of the property. All asbestos was removed from the Walton Hills plant in 2016. The Ford Company began moving the equipment out this year. As the equipment is being removed, any contamination on the site is being cataloged and given a time frame as to when the contamination will be removed. Also this year, the Ford Land Director met with Walton Hills’ officials to figure out when the uncontaminated land can begin to be put up for sale. We also discussed the issue with the water tower. Ford has agreed to remove the water tower next month and begin to cleanup and prepare the 30-acre parcel to be put up for sale in June 2018. In other words, we look to have 30-acres of the old parking lot available for redevelopment in the summer of 2018. Remember, the Ford Motor Company has never sold any of its properties separately for redevelopment in the past. Brookpark and Lorain have been unable to get a commitment from the motor company to redevelop any of the vacant land in those cities. I, along with the Village Council, we have one goal in mind: to make Walton Hills a better place to live, work and play. That begins with us being transparent and keeping you informed on the important news worthy information happening in Walton Hills. In the month of August, I was invited to attend a conference at the White House for Ohio leaders. It was another great opportunity to showcase the Village of Walton Hills on a national scale. In the invitation I received, the Special Assistant to President Trump, advised that the goal of the conference was working to build better relationships at the federal level with our (the nation’s) county and municipal leaders. The event in Washington DC allowed me to express all of the different activities, growth and challenges that we face on the local level of government. Our federal leaders seemed genuinely concerned, so much so, that they provided me with several points of contact to help us when needed, and they (the federal leaders) themselves expressed that they will do what they can to help Walton Hills in any way possible. During the last six years, I’ve been invited to Washington DC three times to discuss the economic outlook of the Village of Walton Hills. It really got me thinking and wondering if the prior administration of Walton Hills was ever invited to the White House, or to Washington DC in general. Not surprisingly, the answer is no. We must be doing something right then if our little Village, tucked in Northeast Ohio, is getting recognition from our leaders in Washington!

Question: What is a dental implant?Answer: Dentistry is constantly changing. As technology evolves, it’s you, who will reap the benefits. Implants offer a whole new range of treatment options and provide the best possible way to restore beautiful smiles when natural teeth are lost! The technology for dental implants is not new. Right here in Cleveland, implants have been available for over 40 years. What’s different now is that we have learned well what doesn’t work, so the success rate has gone up to 95%-96%, whereas 30-40 years ago, 50% of all implants failed after they were placed.Dental implants replace the form and function of missing teeth. They replace teeth in virtually the same way that your natural tooth root supports your natural teeth. Dental implants are actually an amazing technology, giving you a second chance for recovering any or all lost teeth. When one loses, one or more teeth (for a wide variety of reasons, including infection, gum disease, cavities, accident or injury), so that the natural tooth or teeth are removed - many problems can ensue thereafter. The remaining natural teeth ALL shift and drift into the empty remaining space.

1.Teeth shift and rotate causing an improper bite, making chewing less than ideal and difficult. 2.TMJ joint pain is not uncommon either when teeth are missing as the bite collapses. 3.Spaces and gaps between teeth lead to embarrassment, problems with speech, and lack of self-esteem. (You may know someone who refuses to pose for pictures or talks as he or she covers his/her mouth when talking.) 4. Posterior loss of teeth is very hard on the remaining front teeth. The back bite collapse from missing teeth causes harder banging on all remaining front teeth. They are impacted harder while chewing or worse, grinding during sleep. Incidentally, almost all of us grind in our sleep and can’t stop it since we did not know we were even doing it in the first place.

Dental implants can restore missing teeth, thereby eliminating these potential problems. Implants need to be placed fairly soon after loosing a tooth since bone starts resorbing and atrophying as soon as the tooth is lost. Teeth actually preserve good bone when they are healthy and there is no gum disease. Dental implants function just as your natural teeth do, offering you more comfort, stability, and retention than removable replacements for teeth like partial dentures or dentures. Good news though is that if one already has dentures, implants can be placed where NO teeth exist. This allows the denture wearer to feel he is chewing again with the force he had before loosing his natural teeth.Either immediately or several months later those same implants can be attached to an upper or lower denture holding it in one secure oral location. No more mobile dentures! Yea!!

How long does treatment take? This depends on the scope of one’s dental needs. Initially there is a treatment plan. Often there are preparatory procedures such as improving gum health, removing any unsavable teeth and sometimes using artificial bone to support future implants. This may take anything from a few weeks to several months. After the implants are placed they are left to settle in place from six weeks to six months. The final fitting of crowns or bridges or the attaching of dentures to the implants takes approximately one to two months to complete. The time depends on frequency of visits and extent of treatment needed. Call for a free consultation if you’d like more answers as they specifically relate to YOUR mouth. People who have teeth replaced with dental implants are reporting better ability to chew all foods (including hard and raw vegetables and meat), renewed confidence while speaking, and improved self-esteem. Not too many times can technology return what a young person had before tooth loss. Dental implants do! You could call them a “second chance” for your teeth! Our number is 440-543-3688. Call today!

NFL Pigskins at the Public TroughBy Michelle Malkin

I’m calling foul on all the leftists rushing to protect the NFL’s protest crusaders from President Donald Trump’s criticism of their national anthem antics. Their shabby line of defense? The NFL is a “private enterprise” whose “rights” are being violated by those who dare to challenge the league’s political radicalization. The anti-Trump Democratic Coalition has even filed an ethics complaint alleging that the president’s comments constitute a criminal violation against using government offices “to influence the employment decisions and practices” of a private entity. Funny. These fair-weather friends of corporate free speech and the First Amendment were nowhere to be found when Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel were vowing to shut down Chick-Fil-A in their towns as government retaliation against the founders’ private religious beliefs. As for the NFL’s status as a “private” enterprise? That’s some Super Bowl-sized audacity right there. I first started tracking publicly subsidized sports boondoggles with my very first watchdog website, Porkwatch, back in 1999. Since then, taxpayers at all levels of government have foot the bill for football stadiums to the tune of an estimated $1 billion every year. Over the past decade, new tax-supported NFL stadiums rose up for the Indianapolis Colts (the $720 million Lucas Oil Stadium), the Dallas Cowboys (the $1.15 billion AT&T Stadium) the New York Jets and Giants (the $1.6 billion MetLife Stadium, the Minnesota Vikings (the $1.1 billion U.S. Bank Stadium), the Atlanta Falcons (the $1.5 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium), and the San Francisco 49ers (the $1.3 billion Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara). Next in the works: a whopping $2.6 billion stadium for the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams and a $1.9 billion stadium for the Oakland Raiders when they move to Las Vegas. Left behind? An $83 million taxpayer debt on two-decade-old renovations to the Alameda County Coliseum that the Raiders are abandoning. Both political parties have supported massive redistribution of taxes from working people to the gridiron’s spoiled 1-percenters. Public-private sports palace boosters employ the same bogus economic development math as the federal government’s infamous Solyndra green energy loans, stimulus rip-offs and jobs programs. Citizens are promised an enormous multiplier of jobs and benefits in return for their “investments.” But instead they’ve been saddled with a field of schemes. Sports economists have concluded repeatedly that the effects of stadium subsidies on employment and economic activity are negligible -- or even negative. Scott Wolla of the St. Louis Federal Reserve reported earlier this year, “In a 2017 poll, 83 percent of the economists surveyed agreed that ‘Providing state and local subsidies to build stadiums for professional sports teams is likely to cost the relevant taxpayers more than any local economic benefits that are generated.’” Yet, the NFL, its teams and its sponsors continue to benefit from a bonanza of tax-free loans, municipal bonds, rent waivers and property tax exemptions. Congress provided the league with an antitrust exemption that protects its monopoly broadcasting rights. Localities have raided “emergency” funds to help pay for stadium construction. And corporate benefactors write off their expenses for luxury boxes, tickets and naming-rights purchases. As long as the NFL has its hog noses buried in the taxpayer trough, I’ll keep speaking up about all the football militants who backed former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and his disgusting cops-as-pigs socks. You wanna raise your fists on the field? Get your grubby hands out of our pockets first.

Trump: I Was Just at Walter Reed, NFL Behavior Is ‘Disgraceful’By Cortney O’Brien

In a joint press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy Tuesday at the White House, President Trump weighed in on what the United States is doing to support Puerto Rico as it reels from Hurricane Maria. Trump said that Gov. Ricardo Rosselló thanked him for his efforts and reminded the press he’s visiting the territory on Tuesday as it experiences this humanitarian crisis. Trump and Lajoy also took a few moments to address the North Korean threat. The Kim Jong Un regime recently said they have the capability to strike the U.S. Their rhetoric became more dangerous after Trump referred to the dictator as “Rocket Man” at the United Nations General Assembly. The last administration left him a “mess” of a foreign policy, Trump said. But he’ll “fix it.” They are prepared to respond to North Korea. If they have to take the military option, it will be “devastating,” the president warned. Trump was also confronted with questions about the NFL protests after more than 150 players took a knee during the national anthem on Sunday. Although he has been tweeting his disapproval of the NFL’s behavior, he rejected the notion that he was “preoccupied” with the controversy. The president went on to share how he recently visited the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, where he met veterans with missing limbs. “They were fighting for our flag, for our national anthem,” Trump said. It’s “disgraceful” for any football player to disrespect their sacrifices. The president said the NFL should prevent players from taking part in such disrespectful behavior.

Prophet Muhammad before launching raids [on European settlements in Spain]. Horrified Spaniards attempted to flee as soon as they heard the words of our prayer.” His rough old face grinned widely as he recounted. 136,000 Moroccan Muslims fought for the conservative side in the Spanish Civil War as “Army of Africa,” the feared vanguard of a military force under the leadership of Fascist General Francisco Franco who used Muslims as mercenaries in a horrible war in which the slaughters of Christian and secular Europeans were committed both by the vile ultra-leftist pro-Soviet forces in Spain, on one side, and by the “let’s kill everybody” forces of wild Muslims whom the conservatives hired out of desperation, on the other side. The main Muslim general in Spain was Mohammed Meziane from Spanish Morocco. He is famous for almost single-handedly marching into the military hospital in captured Toledo in 1936 where he slaughtered well over 200 badly wounded Spanish Republican militia men in their hospital beds. His men were known to practice mutilation by gruesome castration of fallen enemy soldiers. It is safe to say that without the participation of the many zealot Muslims from Spanish Morocco in the 1936-1939 Spanish Civil War, the victory of Fascism in Spain would have been very difficult or impossible. Democracy in Spain was literally snuffed out by the Moroccan Muslim barbarians whose fanatical Islamic determination to “kill the infidel” was exploited by the Fascists (and later by the Nazis, too, in the Balkans and in France) against the fellow Europeans. The shame on Europe couldn’t have been greater. And so, the Medieval Catholic myth of “maligno moro” (dangerous Moor) of the re-conquest period of Spanish history, was revived in the 20th century thanks to woeful atrocities of the Spanish and French Moroccan fighters (the new Moors). To illustrate their dependency on the ferocity of the African Muslim fighters during the war, Fascist leaders in Spain went as far as organizing a wartime Moroccan pilgrimage to Mecca to show their support for Islam in order to buy an even stronger support for their anti-democratic cause from the Moroccans. The Fascist leader Francisco Franco found the time to build a research center on Islamic studies in Larache, Morocco in July 1937, a new mosque in Ceuta, and “House of Morocco” in Cairo. This is significant because the same Fascist approach of self-deprecating appeasement and enlistment of Muslims for political gain is practiced today on a grand scale by the European and the American Left in order to buy political service from a determined foreign population that takes a side in an ongoing domestic political civil war inside all of the Western countries, an intellectual civil war between the victorious Left and the losing Right that is fought (for now) at the ballot box and not at the barricades, in which Muslim immigrants play the role of political mercenaries for the Left. The Afghan, Indian and Punjabi Muslims that fought on the British side during World War Two are known for instances of atrocities (for instance, Asian Muslim soldiers fighting on the British side destroyed Buddhist shrines and burned down Buddhist villages in Burma during the difficult fighting against the Japanese). Moreover, the French Moroccan and Algerian troops used by the so-called “Free French” forces in World War Two participated in numerous downplayed atrocities in Europe, for instance, during the Allied conquest of Italy. Moroccan (and some Algerian) forces played a major role in mass rapes of Italian women and killings of Italian men following the German defeat in the bitter Battle of Monte Cassino in 1944. The atrocity is still remembered in Italy as the “Marocchinate”. In the article translated below, a French author, Frederic Sroussi, expounds on this subject, as horrible abuses were committed against the Italian civilians by the troops of French Moroccan “goumiers” (irregular skirmisher troops donated to France by the Sultan of Morocco) and other colonial soldiers of the French Expeditionary Corps during the liberation of Italy between 1943 and 1944. French Moroccans in particular, but also African soldiers of other nationalities, raped thousands of women, girls, and men during this period. They pillaged villages and killed those Italian civilians who tried to protect their wives and children. According to the Italian women’s organization, Unione delle Donne Italiane, 12,000 women were raped at that time by the French colonial troops of Muslim heritage. This figure is quite credible, as the historian, Tommaso Baris, a professor at the Faculty of Political Science at La Sapienza University in Rome, wrote a detailed study on the subject, reproduced in the prestigious magazine Twentieth Century. General Juin, commander-in-chief of the French contingent, solemnly declared on the subject of these rapes and murders: “We must put an end to these acts, unworthy of a victorious army.” However, his instruction went unheeded. An Italian film, titled La Ciociara, about these odious collective rapes, was shot in 1960, according to the book of Alberto Moravia, directed by the famous actor and director Vittorio De Sica, with Sophia Loren in the lead role. We learn that in southern France, in early 1944, the German SS officers created a military unit of French Muslims for the purpose of barbaric counterattacks on those southern French villages where some supporters of the French resistance (the Maquis) lived. In Yugoslavia, in 1941, the German occupiers directed by Heinrich Himmler had connected with the Bosnian Muslims and the Albanian Muslims, to incite them and encourage them to join Nazi Germany’s special forces (not the regular German Army units) against the Serbs and the Communist partisans resisting the German occupation. He assigned them a Nazi German commander, Herr Sauberzweig. The famous cousin of Yasser Arafat, the Jerusalem Mufti, Hajj Amin al-Hussaini, the founder of World Islamic Congress, did try to help the Nazis with Arab recruitment (after a meeting with Hitler in late 1941) but lacked a power base in the Middle East from which to effect that. However, he helped the Germans put together the Bosnian Muslim division. These units all had terrifying names as if to denote their vicious value. The infamous Bosnian Muslim SS division “Handzar” (named after a dreaded cold dagger style weapon introduced by the Turks centuries earlier) was created out of these efforts, and in southern Serbia and Albania two additional Balkan Muslim irregular military units were drawn up, the “Skenderbeg” division (named after an old Albanian nationalist icon) and “Kama” SS unit (kama means “a striking knife used for slicing throats of animals and men”), and operated together. These units (with many thousands of men) were extremely dreaded by the Serb and Montenegrin villagers in the Balkans because their methods of torture, pillage, and murder were particularly vicious and infinitely worse than any German methods of liquidation of opposition. As part of their MO, the Nazi-supplied Bosnian and Albanian Muslim terrorist fighters in the Balkans used to tear to pieces mothers in front of their babies, toss babies into the air so they could land on the tips of their knives and bayonets, burn down old villagers in their homes and churches, carve signs into the foreheads of the dying, laugh at people who are screaming in agony of pain and sorrow, etc. The terror factor behind the deployment of these Balkan Muslim mercenaries for the Nazi forces was achieved effectively and successfully. However, unlike their Spanish allies who used masses of African Muslims, the Germans could not recruit Balkan Muslims or Arab Muslims in numbers sufficient to turn the tide of war. We learn in the article below that there was also an all-volunteer Arab military unit serving with Rommel’s Afrika Corps, albeit too small to affect any outcome. In Russia, the Nazis were able to recruit the Crimean and the Caucasian Turkic and Tartar tribes of Moslems (relatives of the Chechens and Dagestanis who today represent a significant population source of recruits for ISIS and other terror networks across the world) to join them in anti-partisan warfare activities in Ukraine (siege of Sebastopol) and Russia, where an untold number of atrocities against the Russian and Ukrainian villagers was committed by the Muslim allies of the German Nazis on the Eastern Front. Stalin punished these Muslim tribes after the war with wholesale NKVD extermination

campaigns of forceful suppression and hostile resettlement in inhospitable quarters of Siberia. In Yugoslavia, in one instance in 1945, Tito’s victorious Red partisans liquidated almost 10,000 surrendered Montenegrin, Bosnian and Albanian Muslim recruits from the defeated Nazi butcher battalions as punishment for their activities with the Nazis. What all these facts about the Muslim participation in World War Two have in common is the utter sociopathic ruthlessness against non-Muslims augmented by the enjoyment of killing “infidels” in war, all in the name of Islam, at the end of the day. Does anyone seriously believe that these demons lurking in the elusive heritage of peoples will not return some day in full force?

Arab-Muslim War Crimes in Europe During the Second World War French public television has just broadcast the film ” Indigenes “. This 2006 feature features the story of four North African soldiers who fought under the French flag during the Second World War. The latter, accompanied by their brothers in arms, will – I quote the text of the trailer of the film – liberate Italy, Provence, Vosges. Obviously, the purpose of this cinematographic work is political and aims to promote the idea that the Arabs fought Nazism and fought for France. Yes, indeed colonial troops, among them Moroccan goumiers or Algerian spahis, waged war under the colors of the French Expeditionary Corps during the Second World Conflict, but what the film does not say is that the Nazis, on the other hand, also had their Muslim troops, Arab or non-Arab, capable of forming whole divisions. In February 1943 Hitler signed an order for the creation of the first Muslim Waffen-SS formation in Yugoslavia. This will be the 13th Waffen Gerbirsdivision der SS, or division Handschar formed of Bosniak Muslims. It should be noted that the Wehrmacht had Catholic and Protestant chaplains but no chaplain was present in the Waffen-SS. On the other hand, there were imams and they served in the SS Handschar division – one of the instructors of this division was a certain Ernst Wilhelm Springer who, years later, served the Algerian FLN. Also created in the Balkans was the 21st division of Muslim SS “Skanderbeg” and the 23rd division of Muslims SS “Kama”. There was also, for example, a unit of Arab volunteers of the German army called Deutsch-Arabische Lehr Abteilung, etc. In France more particularly, Arabs were members of the African Phalange, a unit created by the champions of Nazi collaboration, such as Georges Guilbaud, who was a member of the French Popular Party of the ex-communist Jacques Doriot. There was also the North African Brigade – to which we will return in more detail later. The latter, composed solely of Muslims living in France, was commanded by the Algerian Mohamed El-Maadi who was a member of the extreme right-wing anti-Semite French in the thirties and an old cagoulard [French sympathizers of Fascism]. For a time, he became close to the other major French collaborationist party, the National Popular Rally.First of all, we regret that the film “Indigenes” director Rashid Bouchareb does not show the horrible abuses committed against the Italian civilians by the troops of Moroccan goumiers and

General Juin, commander-in-chief of the French contingent, solemnly declared on the subject of these rapes and murders: ” We must put an end to these acts, unworthy of a victorious army .” But the abuses continued. Another film, La Ciociara , about these odious collective rapes was shot in 1960, according to the book of Alberto Moravia, by Vittorio De Sica, with Sophia Loren in the lead role. Ironically, the two films, that of De Sica and that of Boushared were screened at the Cannes Film Festival, about 45 years apart: O tempora, O mores. Obviously, no recollection of these atrocious facts exists in the film of Rashid Bouchareb, praised at the time by Jacques Chirac. These abuses of truth [in the film] were also denounced by – among others – the military historian Edward L. Bimberg, a former US Army officer during the Second World War, who personally rubbed shoulders with the Moroccan goumiers, the enemy. Let us add that it is obvious that if the British and American armies had not landed in North Africa to push towards Italy and the south of France, these colonial troops would have had nothing to deliver at all, for they would never have been able to change the course of the war on their own, of course. Turning now to this often overlooked episode of the collaboration in France involving North African Muslims, we want to talk about the ” SS Mohamed “, as they were called at the time. Investigative journalists Faligot and Kauffer wrote in their excellent book “Le Croissant et la Croix Gammee” that the creation of this North African brigade was the work of several men, including the sinister Lafont, the head of the French Gestapo, located at Rue Lauriston in Paris. Nazi captain Wilhelm Radecke of the Abwehr served as a bridge between the far-right journalist and former farm cowboy Mohamed El-Maadi and the torturer of the French Gestapo, Lafont. The two men were friends. El-Maadi was even able to meet a co-religionist already a member of the French Gestapo, in the person of Mohamed Begdane, known as ” Jean le Manchot “. Several hundred Arabs and Kabyles of the district of the Goutte d’Or, in Paris mainly, were selected for this North African brigade of Nazi collaborators, whom the butcher of Lauriston Street, Lafont, wished to command. The brigade was officially founded on January 28, 1944. As Faligot and Kauffer recount in their book: ” Mohamed El-Maadi will launch the Jihad against the maquis of Dordogne and Correze, mainly FTP, ie “the Reds” … Once their headquarters were installed in Tulle, the torturers of the Rue Lauriston had their Arab commandos sweep through the villages known to be close to the Resistance. At Brantome, near Perigueux, two SS officers were ambushed. Alex Villeplane – a close friend of Lafont – organized a systematic reprisal looting. The men of El-Maadi earn the nickname ” SS Mohamed ” due to the atrocities they committed in this operation. In the acts of pillage, assassination, rape, and abuses of all kinds, the North African Brigade participated in a bloody way. It can, therefore, be said that some decisive parts of French history remain obscured for ideological reasons. Let us shed light on these repressed or knowingly hidden events so that the clear understanding of history can sweep away the propaganda discourse that makes us swallow up the well-thinking mainstream media politics and ” showbiz “.

Look Great!

Donald Trump 35- NFL 0By Wayne Root

This is the story of the suicide of the NFL. Are you listening Jim Murren and MGM? This is a case study for how to destroy a billion-dollar business by injecting your offensive leftist politics and alienating your own customer base. President Trump has done it again. No, I don’t mean he’s offended millions of Americans. I mean he said exactly what was on the mind of tens of millions of middle class Americans. Call us the Silent Majority. Because of Trump, our views now count. Don’t look now but Trump just kicked the NFL’s ass. Ratings are plummeting. Revenues are plunging. The player’s spokesman deals are being cancelled. Fans are booing. Fans are burning tickets and uniforms. Lifelong NFL zealots are vowing to never

watch another game. And the #1 selling jersey in the USA is a Pittsburg Steeler backup- a former Army Ranger with the courage to stand for the national anthem. The Silent Majority is speaking loudly and clearly. When you offend 63 million Trump voters, your business suffers, your bottom line plunges. The NFL is going the way of dying dinosaur ESPN. And the Emmys- with the lowest ratings EVER. And Hollywood box office revenues- the worst in 25 years. And NBC’s Megyn Kelly- whose career is finished. And Arnold Schwarzenegger- who flopped as host of “Celebrity Apprentice.” And Actress Jennifer Lawrence- who latest movie bombed after disrespecting Trump. Don’t forget Madonna, who threatened to bomb the White House. Her latest album sold 3,000 copies last week. Guess who got bombed? My grandfather put it best. He taught me there are only two rules to business:

#1) The customer is always right.#2) If the customer is wrong, refer back to Rule #1.

All of these athletes, entertainers, CEOs, businesses and leagues like the NFL have free speech. They can say whatever they want. But so can we- the customers. But we always get the last laugh. Always assume your customers are 50/50 liberal vs conservative. Therefore, any political statement you make risks offending and alienating half your customers. But what if your specific customer base is 70% conservative or center right? Well then you could ruin your entire brand forever. Enter the NFL. Of course, the NFL’s audience includes lots of diverse groups. But let’s be honest. The typical NFL fan is a white, middle class, middle aged, meat-eating, testosterone-driven Republican (or certainly center right). The typical NFL fan is a flag waver. They always stand for the national anthem. They wear flag pins and chant “USA, USA, USA!” They love cops and military. In short, they are middle class Trump voters. Not all of them. But a significant majority. Doesn’t the NFL Commissioner know this? Don’t the executives at the NFL’s Park Ave. offices know this? What world do they live in? So, this isn’t about free speech. This is about the survival of your business and destruction of your brand. Why would the NFL be at war with their own fans, viewers and ticket buyers? Someday this will be a case study in how to destroy a brand in business schools. Just like ESPN. And just like Jim Murren and MGM, if they’re not careful about throwing around their ignorant leftist views. Because casino customers are the same middle class (and above) Trump voters as NFL fans. Now it’s time to REALLY bring the NFL to its knees. It’s time for a nationwide boycott. It’s time for 63 million Trump fans to stop watching. Turn off NFL games on your TV for the next month. Watch the owners cry. Watch them panic. Watch them beg. If you’re betting on the games here in Vegas, just watch them online, or on your I-phones. But make TV ratings collapse. It’s time for 63 million Trump voters to stop buying NFL merchandise. Go cold turkey. Write every NFL sponsor and demand they cancel their NFL advertising campaigns, or we’ll stop buying from them. Call our Congressmen and demand the NFL’s anti-trust and tax exempt status be withdrawn immediately. Ouch. This one’s gonna hurt! It’s time to teach the NFL a lesson. The Silent Majority counts. What we believe in- God, country, Constitution, flag, national anthem, American exceptionalism- matters. Start worrying about offending us. The NFL is about to learn a bitter lesson. Trump 35-NFL 0.

Truth takes a holiday By Sher Zieve

In both the 1934 original and 1971 remake, the movie “Death Takes a Holiday” means that there was – at least for the runtime of the movie – no more death while death, himself, was

exploring humanity’s desire to cling to life. In the year 2017 AD, or the relatively new Politically Correct CE...Common Era, Truth has taken a holiday from all too many of the humans in America and has been replaced with both lies and misdirection. White people are apologizing for being white, whilst non-whites continue to berate them for being white and having some bizarre malady known as “white privilege.” If you believe that they US Constitution is one of the finest documents ever written, you are called racist, homophobic, Islamophobic (add your own disparaging words) etc. If your opinion is that the USA should – ultimately – be governed by the majority political party that won the election, and the victorious group happens to be conservative the winners are racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, racist (that’s correct as you’re at least two-times a racist for having the audacity to win) and a toothless, grade-school dropout

and incessantly drooling Troglodyte. Again – remember – the truth is no longer permitted if it contradicts the ideology of the Luciferian Left...which it almost always does. And these are just the beginnings of your myriad and mortal sins. This will be a brief exploration into the bizarre and chilling developments that have recently begun to be thrust upon our nation, our President and we-the-people with the express purpose of effecting a Leftist coup and takeover – by force if and when necessary – of the United States of America. First and foremost, let’s get something very straight for the snowflakes, “Antifa” and even, sadly, former-Communist-turned-Republican (sort of) Dr. Charles Krauthammer. Dr. Krauthammer said on FNC’s “Special Report” that both neo-NAZIs and the KKK were vehicles of the “far right.” Au Contraire. Neither NAZIs nor the KKK are on the far right. In actual fact, the acronym NAZI stands for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei – the National Socialist German Workers Party. It is one of the demonic children of the far Left...as is the Ku Klux Klan. Even the left-leaning History Channel writes: “Founded in 1866, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) extended into almost every southern state by 1870 and became a vehicle for white southern resistance [Democrat Party]* to the Republican Party’s Reconstruction-era policies aimed at establishing political and economic equality for blacks. Its members waged an underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican leaders.” Then, from “A Short History of Democrats, Republicans, and Racism,” we have the following: “Fact: The Republican Party was founded primarily to oppose slavery, and Republicans eventually abolished slavery. The Democratic Party fought them and tried to maintain and expand slavery. The 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery, passed in 1865 with 100% Republican support but only 23% Democrat support in congress. “Why is this indisputable fact so rarely mentioned? PBS documentaries about slavery and the Civil War barely mention it, for example. One can certainly argue that the parties have changed in 150 years (more about that below), but that does not change the historical fact that it was the Democrats who supported slavery and the Republicans who opposed it. And that indisputable fact should not be airbrushed out for fear that it will tarnish the modern Democratic Party. “Had the positions of the parties been the opposite, and the Democrats had fought the Republicans to end slavery, the historical party roles would no doubt be repeated incessantly in these documentaries. Funny how that works.” In reality, it has been the Republican Party throughout US history that ended slavery, pushed the Civil Rights movement and legislation. On the other hand, the Democrat Party – contrary to what is now falsely being taught in US schools – has consistently opposed them. The Republican Party leadership has its own large problems...lack of work ethic and an, apparent, growing extreme laziness being but two. However, the Democrats are firmly and irrevocably – unless they finally manage to burn all the books containing accurate historical facts and truth and continue their leftist school retraining of all of our children with lies (parents...where are you?!?) – the political party of slavery, intolerance and racism. Despite its visible and all too often risible (think Sen. Lindsey Graham and his jumping so fast from Democrat to Republican ideology that he forgets which side he’s on at the moment) ongoing flaws, the Republican Party is not. Isn’t it interesting that the RINOs who seem to hate President Trump the most – including those believing they are our intellectual superiors – are some of the most vocal and demeaning to President Trump’s truth-telling? Has it been that long since these poseurs told the truth that they’re afraid it just might choke them? And...isn’t it time that we began delving into what really happens in these cases before we jump to our own conclusions? Isn’t our Republic, at the very least, worth that? Is truth simply no longer important? If not...we’ve already lost.

“Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” – Galatians 4:16

What’s the Matter with Germany?By Robert Curry

Germany is making trouble again. This time it is not sending young men in uniform swarming across its borders to conquer Europe. Instead, it is using its position of economic dominance to cause young Muslim men from outside Europe to swarm across Europe’s borders. In World War II, Germany’s conquest of Europe and subsequent defeat left the continent in ruins. This time, however, Germany’s actions seem designed to bring about Europe’s destruction by inviting conquest rather than by initiating it. First the Kaiser, then Hitler, now Angela Merkel. Over and over again and in different ways, Germany’s hubris has invented ways to take Europe down. How can we possibly be here again? If you take a moment to ponder the title of Gertrude Himmelfarb’s book, The Roads to Modernity: The British, French, and American Enlightenments, you will notice that Germany is conspicuously absent from Himmelfarb’s subtitle and her book. This is an important clue about the shape of the West today. After all, the story of Germany comes close to defining the conflicts and agonies of the 20th century and gives clues about our present crises. It is a remarkable fact that twice in the 20th century Germany fought the three nations in Himmelfarb’s list in two enormously destructive wars. Those conflicts strongly suggest that Germany was the enemy, not just of those nation states, but also of the Enlightenment traditions those nations represent. The Enlightenment was a period of political revolutions in Britain, America, and France. Those revolutions resulted from a radical change in thinking in those three countries. Britain’s revolution came first, in 1688. It replaced the divine right of kings with rule by the king (or queen) in Parliament, a regime that is still recognizable in Britain today. The radically new American idea was forged in the American Enlightenment and recognizes the sovereignty of the people (the subject of my book, Common Sense Nation: Unlocking the Forgotten Power of the American Idea). America’s original constitutional design is also still recognizable, though America in recent years has been living under an increasingly post-constitutional regime. France keeps trying to make its version of the Enlightenment project work politically, reflecting its inherent problems. France’s current attempt, the Fifth Republic, was established only very recently, in 1958. During the Enlightenment era there was a crucial parting of the ways between Germany, on the one hand, and Britain, America, and France on the other. Here is Stephen Hicks in his fine book on postmodernism: Anglo-American culture and German culture split decisively from each other, one following a broadly Enlightenment program, the other a Counter-Enlightenment one. How would the 20th century have played out if Germany had belonged in Himmelfarb’s subtitle such that war between a 20th century France and Germany would have been as unlikely as war between 20th century France and Britain? That, it seems, would have averted both world wars and saved lives by the tens of millions. Instead of being part of the Enlightenment project, Germany was the heartland of Romanticism, the 19th-century movement that followed the Enlightenment era. Romanticism was the rejection of Enlightenment thinking, and it started in Germany. The 20th-century thinker who did the most to shape thinking about the history of ideas during and after the Enlightenment era was almost certainly Isaiah Berlin, professor of social and political theory at Oxford. In The Roots of Romanticism, here is how Berlin described the new consciousness of the people who were participants in and champions of Romanticism:…common sense, moderation, was very far from their thoughts…there was a great turning towards emotionalism…an outbreak of craving for the infinite…admiration of wild genius, outlaws, heroes, aestheticism, self-destruction. The Germans emerged from the Enlightenment era as the counter-Enlightenment people.Berlin wrote that somewhere between the end of the 1760s and the beginning of the 1780s the idea of the romantic hero was taking hold of the German imagination. Note that this is precisely the period during which the American Founders were inventing America. During this period, heroic martyrdom became in Germany “a quality to be worshipped for its own sake.” Berlin described the romantic hero as “satanic”: This is the beginning of…the Nietzschean figure who wishes to raze to the ground a society whose system of values is such that a superior person…cannot operate in terms of it, and therefore prefers to destroy it…[who] prefers self-destruction, suicide… Why “satanic”? Berlin’s description of the romantic hero evokes the figure of Satan. Satan’s sin is pride. Propelled by a feeling of injured pride, he led a rebellion against Heaven. It also describes Hitler. He stirred up the Germans’ injured pride over their defeat in World War I, and led Germany into a war of unimaginable destructiveness which ended with the destruction of Germany and Hitler’s suicide. Once again, the Germans while seeking to salve a wounded pride through self-destructive means, seem poised to take the rest of Europe down with them. For about a century after the Germans set out on their anti-Enlightenment path, the threat they posed to the West was limited because Germany did not exist as a single country. Before 1871, the area that would become Germany in that year consisted of a number of independent states varying in size and power, ranging from kingdoms and grand duchies to principalities, cities and ecclesiastical states. Although the number of German states had declined throughout the centuries, reduced by deaths of royal lines, annexation, and conquest, there were still around 300 German states by 1800. The new state, by unifying the Germans, soon acquired the power to threaten the West. When the Allies divided Germany after its defeat in World War II, it was again no threat–though certainly an unhappy place for those stuck living in the Eastern part of the divide. Now reunited, it is no coincidence that Germany is a problem again. It is important to realize how much the Germans’ rejection of Enlightenment thinking, already strong, was intensified by their experience of the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon ravaged and humiliated the German states. For Germans, Napoleon represented not just the French Enlightenment, but the Enlightenment overall. The Germans hated Napoleonic France and rejected the Enlightenment along with it. The emergence of the United States, modern Britain, and modern France during the Enlightenment era, and Germany’s rejection of the Enlightenment provide the basis for understanding why Germany has been and continues to be a problem for the West. If the West wishes to avoid a repetition of the destruction and disasters of the last century, it would do well to consult its own Enlightenment tradition and to marginalize the thinking of German Romantics, like Merkel, who recall an intellectual tradition that can demonstrate no positive historical achievement.About the Author: Robert Curry Robert Curry serves on the Board of Directors of the Claremont Institute and is the author of Common Sense Nation: Unlocking the Forgotten Power of the American Idea from Encounter Books. You can preview the book at: http://www.amazon.com/Common-Sense-Nation-Unlocking-Forgotten/dp/1594038252 He also serves on the Board of Distinguished Advisors for the Ronald Reagan Center for Freedom and Understanding.Editor’s comment: Great summary of why we should keep history in mind and an eye on Germany in particular. You would have thought two world wars would have been enough. Germany has always been at the center of European wars. Germany, being central and strategic to the continent with resources is once again instigating trouble. Sadly there were countries like Sweden who supplied the iron to make most of World War 2 happen. Sweden now too has been invaded by Muslims that are changing the landscape of philosophical, political and social thinking with evil at its very base. Satan’s, Hitler’s and Muslim’s sin is pride and hatred of enlightenment.
