In order to produce my poster for

my short film ‘Stake Out’ I had to

come up with a background. I went

into Guisborough (local town) to

see if I could find a picture that

could be quite dramatic. I found

that the best photos were in the

graveyard at the back of St Nicholas

Church where you can see the

priory. With this photo I tried

framing it with the trees. I did this

because I felt that the bare

branches add a much more

dramatic effect especially with the

ruins of the Priory in the

background.

I opened Photoshop clicked on ‘file’,

‘place’ and then chose the photo that I

wanted from my desktop.

I put the background photo in Black and white as the film is in Black and

White to help portray an older time but it also helps add a more dramatic

feel to it. To create this effect I went to the adjustments to the side and

clicked on black and white.

I then created a new layer by clicking on ‘Layer’, ‘New’ and

saved it as Layer 2. I did this so I could add extra effects

without disturbing the other things that I have already done.

Using Layer two I placed a gradient

over the background image and then

changed the opacity from 100% to 79%.

This made the background image more

visible so I could then use the rubber

tool to rub away the gradient from the

foreground and any close up branches.

I added another new layer so that I

could add the misty clouds. To create

the Clouds I clicked on ‘Filter’,

‘Render’ and then clicked ‘Clouds’.

This created a grey and black

covering over the image, so I changed

the opacity from a 100% to 5%.

To save the Final Image as a photo, I clicked ‘File’ and then ‘Save

As’. I named the photo ‘Ancillary Task Background’ and then changed

the file from a Photoshop File to a jpeg File. This converted and

compressed the file to a photo so that when I put it onto my Poster if

I make any mistakes it want affect the background image.

The Text- I searched for a font

that i thought would best go for

the picture first.i then changed

the colour from black to red and

embossed it which made red

name look like blood.

I then replaced the line for the K

with a picture of a stake which

gives the audience a inclination to

what the film is going to be

about.
