– Every junior in our district can take one test for free in a Spring testing window. Must be used before the end of their Junior year.

College Requirements
• 4 years of English
• 3-4 years of Social Studies
• 3-4 years of Mathematics
• 3-4 years of Science/Labs
• 2-4 years of World Language
• Standardized test scores – SAT or ACT
• Some colleges are SAT optional: www.fairtest.org
• Interview and/or portfolio, if required
Application Process
• Research each college since it has its own criteria and process
• Adhere to deadlines!
• Apply early to be considered for school-based scholarships/aid
(before Thanksgiving would be ideal)
• Request letters of recommendation by end of junior year
o Put your request in Naviance after speaking with teacher
o Give teachers at least two weeks notice
Be sure your Naviance resume is current so teachers can
access it for reference
Follow up with a thank you note as a courtesy
Admission Tests
Mr. Jackson:
• ACT – English, Reading, Mathematics, Science
o Highest Score = 36
o Writing optional, but should take
• Even if the SAT/ACT is not required for admission in the
institution, it may be necessary for placement and/or
scholarship consideration
• If your child qualifies for free and reduced lunch, you will
receive a fee waiver for SAT and ACT
