Pot Noodle: “You Can Make IT”
By Max Woolfenden & Alec Berryman
Camera Shots• Close up shot of man with low
opacity pot noodle close up in the background. This is due to the slow transition between the two shots.
Camera Shots• This shot show a mid
shot of the poster that the man is inspiring to. This shows the direction he wants to go and sets up the joke of the advert.
Film Conventions• This shot is
foreshadowing the final joke whilst the man is training for boxing• This joke is for a
second watch and would be seen many times during an ad reel.
Iconography• Iconography in this shot is
the steriotypical boxing ring and boxing staff (e.g. ring “girls” and announcers)
Editing• The majority of the ad is a
montage in homage to the sequence shown in the film “Rocky” staring Sylvester Stylone.• This is used to enforce the
idea that he will be boxing and not being a “Ring Girl”.
Unique Selling Point• The advert uses the idea of
being a “lad” and making the advert into one big joke for comedic purposes and to enhance its reputation as a business that isn’t too bothered about taking itself seriously , instead it uses its image to attract an audience in a comedic way.
