Up and Down Words (26 points) Look at the clues and solve the puzzle by entering the missing words. The second word of any given clue’s solution is also the first word for the solution of the next clue. Consider a small example:

1. Important Memento - FAMILY __________________ 2. It’s red when it is ripe - _______________ __________________

In this case, you could venture a guess that the first clue leads to “Family Heirloom”.

For the second clue, you would therefore assume the first word is “Heirloom” and venture a guess as “Heirloom Tomatoes”. Build your answers accordingly.

One solution is provided in Block A and Block B. Block C has no hints and carries extra marks.

You get +1 for figuring out each individual word. Repetitions do not count twice.

You get an additional +2 if you solve the entirety of Block A or Block B.

You get a further additional +6 if you can solve Block C entirely.

Rebus (12 points) A rebus is an allusional device that uses pictures to represent words or parts of words. Figure out what the following pics mean. Expect commonly used words, phrases, sentences or ideas. +2 for every correct answer.

Fill her up: Anagrams (30 points) Fill up these blanks with words which are anaagrams of each other. An anagram of a word is the letters of the same word shuffled such that both words make sense. Eg eat, ate, tea. are anagrams.

For Question 1 and 2, you get 1 point for getting a blank, and 4 points if you get all four blanks (8 points each). For Question 3, you get 2 points for getting a blank, and 4 points if you get all four blanks. (14 points).

Palindromes (28 points) A palindrome is a word, phrase, number, or other sequence of characters which reads the same backward or forward. Allowances may be made for adjustments to capital letters, punctuation, and word dividers. The answers to all of the following clues are palindromes. The number of letters in each word has been provided.

Here’s an example.

Man attending nature’s call respectfully exclaims how he ends up seeing a Leaning Tower.

(Pardon the crassness/immodesty in this example.)

(You may note the sentence reads the same way back and forth.)

Scoring: +4 for each phrase.
