Always great to meet as a “Poukawa Family” and get to know each other and catch up with what’s going on. POUKAWA SCHOOL TRY-ATHLON SWIM, BIKE & RUN Friday 2nd March I have redesigned our course to a simpler one which should avoid the confusion last year. Next week (on Monday) we will be able to bring our bikes to school to practice. Bikes will be locked in the hall overnight. Join us for lunch at 12 noon for a sausage sizzle with races commencing at 1 o’clock. TUI ROOM Tui Room would like to introduce you to our 2018 Peer Mediators and PALs. Taylor, Emma, Tiaki, Phillip, Lachlan, Greer, Madi, Bryhdie, Milly, Connor and Myles. Our peer mediators will be in the grounds during break times, providing a listening ear, and extra support for the students of Poukawa School. Marc, James, Phillip, Reid, Myles, Olive, Neveah and Greer. Our PALS students will be planning, setting up and running some sports events within our school.

    Dear Parents & Whanau, Thank you to all those who came to our “Meet the 

    Crew” event on Friday. Always great to meet as a 

    “Poukawa Family” and get to know each other and 

    catch up with what’s going on. 

     POUKAWA SCHOOL TRY-ATHLON 

    SWIM, BIKE & RUN 

    Friday 2nd March 

    I have redesigned our course to a simpler one which 

    should avoid the confusion last year.  

    Next week (on Monday) we will be able to bring our 

    bikes to school to practice. Bikes will be locked in 

    the hall overnight. 

    Join us for lunch at 12 noon for a sausage sizzle with 

    races commencing at 1 o’clock. 

    TUI ROOM Tui Room would like to introduce you to our 2018

  • NOHO MARAE Our Noho Marae is occurring on the Thursday 15th 

    and Friday 16th March. We will be staying one night

    The consent form: Please read carefully, sign, and return to school. 

    The food list: Non perishables can come to school any time, and perishables to school the night before.

    Tour is open to the 

    public at Coronation 

    Park, Waipawa, 

    during the week 

    from 3pm-8pm 

    (Tuesday 27th Feb 

    until Friday 2nd 

    March) and 

    10am-4pm Saturday 

    3rd and Sunday 4th 

    March. Tickets are 

    $7 child, $13 adult 

    and $35 family pass 

    (2 adults, 2 children OR 1 adult, 3 children). Come 

    and join us for a fun opportunity to try ice skating 

    for ALL AGES.

    Kereru - Te Huia- for helping keep our class neat and tidy. Wai-for an awesome attitude towards swimming. Hope- for managing herself in the mornings by putting all her things away 

    ready to start the day.  

    Kea: Dontay - producing fabulous art work, Sam - introducing new Te Reo Maori vocabulary, Olivia - participating, contributing and using topic knowledge 

     

    Pukeko: Completing Stage 4 Knowledge: Belle and Pip C; Riley for being a caring kids and Zoe for participation   

    Ruru: Aleece- working hard with a positive attitude. Maui-stepping out of his comfort zone and joining the choir. Shaquantae- te tautoko i etahi atu i roto i te pangarau. Supporting her 

    Math group.  

     

    Tui: Myles and Milly for their outstanding homework projects, and Dakota for her excellent communication skills 

     

     

    ORIENTEERING 

    Last week we started 

    orienteering. Well done to 

    those who tried this for 

    the first time!

    Netball 

    Year 1 and 2 starts this Wednesday. Details: 

    3:45pm at the Sports Park 

    Teams:  

    Heat - Sapphire, Holly, Hope, Deijsharna and Xavier. Playing on Court 12B against Mahora Movers 

    Flyers: - Cruz, Olivia, Oliver, Willow and  Pare. Paying on Court 12A against Mahora Magic 

     

    Volleyball 

    Year 7 and 8 starts this week.  

    Both teams will have 2 x 30 minute games at 

    3.45pm and 4.15pm. We have only received 1 offer of transport and are assuming that parents 

    are organising shared transport or taking their own 

    children to the games.
