Able magazine product tested a large range of bikes from various manufacturers at the Cyclefest testing area at the show and awarded the best selling Powabyke XLS a five star award (the highest possible) for the product and also the Powatryke Cruiser a four star award. These two awards are real badges of honour for the two bikes and elevate them above the competition. Nick Child, MD at Powabyke said “we are absolutely delighted with the awards, to get two is a real bonus’’. These awards might be great for promotional purposes in store or online so we have put the award badges online in our Media Zone within the logos folder so you can download them. Powabyke EV’s presence at the Mobility Roadshow in Peterborough on 30 June – 2 July was a great success.

The demand for the low step-through X-byke, the XLS is soaring to a point where Powabyke management have had to ship new product not once but twice.

The XLS really is shining this year, and not just from its alloy frame. The six speed unisex bike’s popularity is seen to be in light of a trend for more men buying the

bike for its ergonomic accessible design in line with European trends. In this day and age you can be a rugged ‘manly man’ and still mount a step-through without fear of sideways looks which is great news for designs such as the XLS. Please note that despite their ‘selling-out’ success the bikes can still be ordered – we are meeting the high demand.

The XLS sells out... Twice!

Sky is the limit for PowabykesPowabyke are involved in the free mass participation Skyride event in Hull (named as Britain’s fourth best cycling city in a University study) on the 21st August this year. The Skyride campaign aims to get 1 million more people riding bikes by 2013. This is basically a giant excuse for a bike ride in a traffic free city and will be rolled out in several cities across the UK. On Skyride day in Hull you will be able to test-ride a Powabyke. You’ll also find entertainment and bike maintenance workshops when you venture out on the day. Skyride in Hull, and in the other locations it is being held, promises to be a spectacular way to encourage people to cycle and most importantly, it will be great fun.

Market watchGlobal sales of electric bikes are expected to reach the 30 million mark in 2011, up from 20 million in 2007! The only way is up for electric power. Powabyke’s position as THE original UK brand will secure its place in this phenomenal growth.

Insured means reassuredOur insurance portal on the homepage www.powabyke.com in partnership with Cycleguard is still offering 10% off electric cycle insurance if you sign up a policy through the website. Prices start from £4.33 a month so it’s not going to break the bank.

Dealers amongst you may have noticed the first e-marketing mail-shot recently alerting you of Powabyke’s attendance at the Mobility Roadshow and various other items. Be assured that we only use your contact

details for this messaging and if you really don’t want it there is an unsubscribe button. We think of it as a great way of getting you the latest low-down in a quick and concise manner.

Rob Allen Cars, a dealership based near Radstock in the South West of the UK have recently invested their money into creating a showroom near their car forecourt which exclusively sells electric bikes, including the Powabyke range.

This is a big move for a dealership that has solely relied on car sales for 16 years.

“I don’t think that electric bikes actually replace the motor car but they do offer a customer a way to go a few miles a day without using their car for every trip,” says the MD of the dealership, Rob Allen. His showroom, called Bike Tricity, is a dedicated e-bike retail outlet with after sales support, bike building and demoing carried out on-site.

Dealer’s CornerNip along to a free two hour courseDavid Farr, MD of Nip Nip is running an innovative new cycling course through his chain of shops in London where you can test ride a Powabyke at the same time if you so desire. The course is two hours long and

designed to make riders safety aware in the busy and frantic London traffic and hotspots of danger. It’s also a great way to test a bike.

David Farr said: “Anyone who wants to take a Powabyke out can do so and test ride it with us on a two hour syllabus which will make them aware of their cycling environment and show them how to master it.”

The innovative course is run in the last week of every month.
