Description 2-1

Part 7156882A 2010 Nordson Corporation Powder Feed Centre Lite

Section 2Description

Intended UseThe Powder Feed Centre Lite is intended to enhance quick colour changecapabilities in a powder coating system. Powder is fed directly from themanufacturers box or fluidised hopper to the spray guns (maximum 18) viapick up tubes, powder pumps and powder delivery hose.

Over sprayed powder is transported from a cyclone at the spray booth backto the Powder Feed Centre, where it is recycled via a sieve unit. Theconditioned powder is then returned from the sieve to the powder box /hopper.

During colour change the pick up tubes, powder pumps, powder deliveryhose and recycle transport hose are purge cleaned by the purge cleansystem incorporated in to the Powder Feed Centre Lite.

A Powder Feed Centre Lite is always used in conjunction with an airextraction system that provides an airflow across the operator working area, and prevents powder escaping in to the environment.

Description of ComponentsSee Fig 2−1. The Powder Feed Centre Lite consists of a canopy enclosure(6) that houses a vibratory table (3) to support the powder box. The powderbox is loaded on to the vibratory table to allow the pick up tubes (7) to movedownwards in to the powder. When the powder pumps (1) are operatedpowder is transported up the pickup tubes and in to the powder hose, to thespray guns.

As the powder is consumed from the box, a level probe (2) detects the leveland continually moves the dip legs further down inside the box to a depth of50mm below the powder surface. For long spray durations this level can beautomatically replenished by using an optional powder virgin feeder.

Oversprayed powder is transported back from the booth to a sieve (8)(either vibratory or ultrasonic). After sieving, the powder is returned back tothe box for feeding to the spray guns again. Operating instructions for thesieve can be found in a separate manual.

During colour change the powder box is removed and the pick up tubesmove further downwards to dock with the purge clean manifold (4). Thismanifold supplies pulses of high pressure air through the pick up tubes, pumps, powder hoses and spray guns for cleaning.

Section 7Parts

IntroductionTo order parts, call the Nordson Customer Service Center or your localNordson representative. Use this five-column parts list, and theaccompanying illustration, to describe and locate parts correctly.

Using the Illustrated Parts ListNumbers in the Item column correspond to numbers that identify parts inillustrations following each parts list. The code NS (not shown) indicatesthat a listed part is not illustrated. A dash (—) is used when the part numberapplies to all parts in the illustration.

The number in the Part column is the Nordson Corporation part number. Aseries of dashes in this column (- - - - - -) means the part cannot be orderedseparately.

The Description column gives the part name, as well as its dimensions andother characteristics when appropriate. Indentions show the relationshipsbetween assemblies, subassemblies, and parts.

If you order the assembly, items 1 and 2 will be included.

If you order item 1, item 2 will be included.

If you order item 2, you will receive item 2 only.

The number in the Quantity column is the quantity required per unit, assembly, or subassembly. The code AR (As Required) is used if the partnumber is a bulk item ordered in quantities or if the quantity per assemblydepends on the product version or model.

Letters in the Note column refer to notes at the end of each parts list. Notescontain important information about usage and ordering. Special attentionshould be given to notes.

Optional ItemsThe following optional items are also available for the Powder Feed CentreLite. Contact your Nordson representative for further information.

Fluidised powder box

See Fig. 9-1. For long spray runs a fluidised powder box with a 50kgcapacity can be used to feed the powder guns. This has the benefit thatthe powder box does not have to be refilled or changed as regularly. Theassembly (part number 737701) is delivered complete. If you alsorequire a lid, this is available using part number 737703.

Additional guns

Additional guns can be added up to a maximum of 27 by adding anadditional purge clean manifold, pick up tubes and pumps. Contact yourNordson representative for further details.

Virgin Feed

Powder level in the container (manufacturers box or fluidised bedhopper) can be automatically refilled when the level drops to a certainlevel. The benefits of this system include reduced labour required tomonitor the powder level, and consistent mixing of virgin and recycledpowder. Contact your Nordson representative for further details on ourHDLV Virgin Feed Dolly system.
