This was designed for operation within extreme environmental conditions, 40,000ft in a non conditioned bay, to meet the requirements of DO254 & DO178 B DAL B.

Power Supplies & Distribution

Ferranti Technologies is able to design & manufacture custom made power supplies at PCB, module and/or LRU level.

Our units cover a wide range of power levels & complexity including software control and in-house, custom designed, solid state circuit breakers.

Power Supplies

Ferranti Technologies has designed an independent power supply to provide power to deploy the emergency floatation system on board helicopters in the event of an aircraft main power system failure.

Inverters & Converters

Ferranti Technologies provides a suite of four converters and one emergency inverter to a large military transport aircraft. Each of these units were custom designed to meet the aircraft’s specific requirements. The converter suite consists of a 500VA, 1kVA, 2x 3kVA units providing 115v/230v, 50/60Hz output derived from the aircraft in a 3 phase, variable frequency ac input. Designed to meet the requirements of DO254 DAL C.

The inverter supplies 3.5kVA, 400Hz ac emergency power to support critical flight control in the event of an aircraft main ac power failure during emergency RAT deployment. Designed to meet the requirements of DO254 DAL B.

Motor & Generator Control

The company’s experience in motor & generator control extends to the development of a high power (14kVA) 550Vdc, dual BLDC motor controller derived from the aircraft variable frequency ac power.

Control Systems

Hydraulic Control Units Designed for use in heavy military engineering platforms and powered from a standard 28V DC vehicle supply, these HCUs contain multiple cards (microprocessor, digital & analogue I/O, PSU and filter and reversionary PLD) and are fully qualified to a number of US and UK standards including DEF-STAN 00-35, 59-41, 61-5, MIL-STD 810, 2175 and 461.

Engine & Transmission Control System Designed for upgraded Armoured Fighting Vehicles and comprising 4 units (engine junction box, warning light box, electronic control unit, engine temperature sensors), these systems interface the new engine and automatic transmission to the existing vehicle control/ instrumentation and electrical system.

Power Distribution Systems

Ferranti Technologies has successfully designed and manufactured a number of system Power

Distribution Units (PDU). These distribution units can be either primary or secondary, controlling AC, HVDC and LVDC loads. The PDU can include full Health & Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) and Control and Monitor (C&M) to ensure your unit is safe, reliable and available in the harshest of conditions.

Power Conversion

Designed for use in harsh environments, these specialist power converters are for safety critical applications such as Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) equipments and onboard vehicle power conversion.

Ranging from 200W to 15kW, these power converters offer fully isolated supplies for various applications.

Post Design Services

Post design services (PDS) are carried out in accordance with Def Stan 05-123 and Def Stan 05-125. PDS activities are offered on an annual or multi-year contract basis and on a task by task basis.

Integrated Logistic Support

Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Maintenance Task Analysis and Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) can be provided when required.

Obsolescence Management

Ferranti Technologies are able to offer assistance with obsolescence management in accordance with BS EN 62402:2007. Using a reputable, up-to-date web based tool that provides EOL and PCN notifications enables us to monitor products throughout service life and mitigate the effects of obsolescence by recommending alternatives

Product Test & Commissioning

With our comprehensive Test Laboratory, Ferranti Technologies is able to carry out a wide range of functional, in-circuit and environmental tests, both on site and at customer sites if required.

Documentation Support

A technical publication service encompasses the preparation of repair, overhaul and maintenance manuals, test specifications and illustrated parts catalogues.

An experienced drawing office team ensures rigorous configuration control and safe custody of all documentation, whether customer supplied or FTL generated.
