There is a road from the eye to the heart that does not

go through the intellect.

— G.K. Chesterton

Life cannot be classified in terms of a simple neurological

ladder, with human beings at the top; it is more accurate

to talk of different forms of intelligence, each with its

strengths and weaknesses. This point was well demonstrated

in the minutes before the devastating Tsunami of 2005

which hit the Indian Ocean coastline and claimed 216,000

lives... When tourists grabbed their digital cameras and ran

after the ebbing surf, and all the 'dumb' animals made for

the hills.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

POWER OF INTUITION

Enduring Bases of Power | 193

Trust your hunches. They are usually based on facts filed

away just below the conscious level.

— Dr. Joyce brothers

Choices are the hinges of destiny.

— Edwin Markham

Intuition is pure, untaught knowledge. It is a direct

perception of truth or any fact, independent of reasoning.

Logic can support intuition, but not all the way. After a

point, logic has no rights of entry. Intuition goes beyond

logic but it is not against logic. When you are operating

in the intuitive domain, you have to remember some things

have to be believed, to be seen or felt. They are real but

gossamer fine, which current paradigms of logic cannot

explain.

Once you have experienced the versatility of intuition,

your faith in it deepens. A kind of transmitter to the

universe is born. Your exchange begins.

Having said that it is critical to mention that most of

what one classifies as intuition is not intuition.

Which is why I classify intuition in to two types:

Grey intuition and Blue intuition.

Grey intuition means when a thought wells up from

our archives so imperceptibly that we can't see its origin

and we quickly conclude that the origin is unknown.

Actually the origin of such thoughts is our experience and

"notes from our invisible basement". Such intuition is

commonly seen in professions like nursing and fire fighting.

This is Grey intuition. Most intuition we experience is of

this type. And this technically speaking is not pure

intuition.

Pure intuition is Blue intuition. Where you pull out a

thought from the blue. This is very rare.

If you are blessed to intuit blue it is great. But

remember it is Grey intuition that will often save your life,

your family, your job.

Blue intuition is of the heart and Grey intuition is of

the Head (from Grey Matter). If your heart speaks

unmistakably, very well. If not listen to the head. Respect

the head. After all nature has placed it above the heart in

your body.

Though it is fashionable to say, (especially among

authors and motivational speakers) that one must listen to

his heart — I have countless examples where people have

done just that and paid a huge price. Communities which

have listened to the heart have been often enslaved. So give

the head its due too.

In fact I believe listening to one's heart is listening to

his value structure and nothing more than that. And

listening to one's head is listening to his knowledge

structure.

If Blue signals are the icing on the cake then Grey

signals are the cake. Blue and Grey together is ideal. Else

just intuit with Grey.
