    Where to begin?

    YOUR Precinct is where you start.

    A precinct is generally the lowest-levelgovernmentally-related division and mayalso be known as an election district.

    When a voter registers to vote, they are

    assigned to a precinct BY their residencylocation (street number, city, county, state)

    What is a Precinct

    Each precinct has a specific location where

    its residents go to vote. Sometimes severalprecincts will use the same polling station.

    What is a Precinct

    Political parties often designate individuals,

    to help them keep track of how the votersin a precinct feel about candidates andissues, and to encourage people to vote.

    In Oklahoma, the Republican party begins

    with precinct volunteers serving asofficers. (Well cover how to get involved in theRepublican party later)

    Principles of that political party is defined

    within each of their Platforms. Oklahoma Republican Platform is developedbeginning at the precinct, through county

    conventions, and at the state convention (everyodd numbered year)

    Oklahoma Democrat Platform is developed at thestate convention (not sure of entire process)

    Voter Registration begins with YOU but party registrationof elected officials defines who is in charge - the leadership andPOWER to control the process and the rules to pass legislation,

    raise/lower taxes, etc.

    Be sure YOUR Voter Registration is current

    Oklahoma is a CLOSED Primary State If you have a candidate you want to vote for in thePrimary, you MUST be registered as a voter in thatparty

    Last day to change party affiliation to vote in Primary is May 31, 2010

    Help a candidate

    Volunteer to help with parades, ball games,community events, etc.

    What is your time worth? And how much more

    valuable is it for your candidate?Contribute financially

    $10 per week to the candidate of your choice

    36 weeks until the Primary = $360

    If 100 people committed to give $10 per week,your candidate could raise $36,000

    Candidate Information

    Qualifications to be a Candidate A registered voter of that party for the six-month period

    immediately preceding the first day of the filing period State Senate: at least twenty-five years of age at the time of

    their election. State House of Representatives: be twenty-one years of age at

    the time of their election.

    They shall be qualified electors in their respective counties ordistricts and shall reside in their respective counties or

    districts during their term of office. (Article 5, Section 17,Oklahoma Constitution) To file as a candidate for the House of Representatives in any

    representative district, a person must have been a registeredvoter in such district and a resident residing within such district

    for at least six (6) months immediately preceding the filingperiod prescribed by law

    Find like-minded Republicans

    Make sure friends, family, neighbors, are registered to VOTE

    You MUST vote in order to elect the truly

    CONSERVATIVE candidates as the nominee on theGeneral Election ballot

    Remember Voters registered as Independents can only vote in General Election
