Elizabeth’s Family
Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Her father might perhaps best be known not for how he ruled his country, but how he ruled his wives.
Henry VIII sentenced many of his wives to death for not giving him a son. Anne Boleyn was just one in the wayfall.
Anne Boleyn was sentenced to death after being convicted

As A Child
Elizabeth had a difficult childhood after her mother was executed. She became a royal bastard when the marriage of her mother and father was then annulled, and she was stripped of her title, simply becoming Lady Elizabeth.
She was dismissed as insignificant and after her father executed Katherine Howard for adultery, Elizabeth at 8 years old swore off marriage.
Later, Thomas Seymour took an inappropriate interest in Elizabeth and pursued her to the point of committing treason.

As A Child Continued
After Thomas Seymour was executed, Elizabeth and her brother’s relationship suffered as she was forbidden to come to court. She eventually returned and played the good protestant woman. Eventually her brother died, and her sister assumed the throne. And so ended her childhood.

Turning Her Country Around
Elizabeth’s reign proved a turning point for her country. When Mary had assumed the throne, she had instigated a bloody massacre, killing any protestants she could get her hands on.
Elizabeth brought religious peace to her country and restored it’s currency’s worth. She refused to herself turn against any subjects for their religion, and brought back theater and a lighter atmosphere.

Quotes of Elizabeth II have already joined myself in marriage to a husband, namely the kingdom of England. (Elizabeth to Parliament)
Better beggar woman and single than Queen and married.
There is no marvel in a woman learning to speak, but there would be in teaching her to hold her tongue. (Elizabeth to the French Ambassador after he had praised her linguistic skills)
I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king. (Tilbury speech, 1588.)

Never Married?
As a personal choice made during childhood, Elizabeth never married. Marriage was too difficult to consider with all the people that needed to be pleased in doing so. Also the one man it’s reputed she fell in love with was both a subject and already married.
Whether she intended to marry is a puzzle, but the fact remains she never did.

The End of a Great Ruler
Elizabeth did great things for her country. When she took the throne in 1558, England was a poor country torn apart by religious tensions and fights. When she died at Richmond Palace on the 24th of March in 1603, England was one of the most powerful and prosperous countries in the world.
She ruled for 44 years and died at the old age (for the time) of 69.
