Lowering Your Refrigeration Costs © 2011 Senergy Solar Corp 610-609-0278 “A test was conducted at the South Willow St. location that logged temperature and compressor usage before and after the installation of the PowerCube. The results yielded a 40% reduction in energy usage, 84% reduction in compressor cycles that will eliminate 2,872 pounds of carbon dioxide annually. This accounted for a decrease of over $80 in the monthly electric bill and a return on investment in less than six months. After reviewing the results, I was convinced the PowerCube lived up to its claims for energy efficiency.” — Jimmy Astarita, Manchester, NH Owner/Operator, Papa John’s Restaurant “We have carried out an independent trial with a PowerCube in one of our on-site kitchens. Through the trial, we made an energy saving of 17.78%. Based on these savings we will be rolling out the PowerCube across all of our sites. It is a simple idea that seems to be very effective in energy saving, which will lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions.” — Mike Wells, Head of Facilities, npower “We are constantly striving to reduce energy costs and emissions within Woolworths and have had the PowerCube on trial, which showed considerable savings. We are now in the process of arranging for this product to be installed into the refrigeration units in all our cafe stores.” — Energy Management Team, Woolworths “We had PowerCube installed at Carvel Store 2248 in Brooklyn and Carvel store 4233 in Perth Amboy and it was clearly visible that we immediately saw the impact of what this piece of equipment can save our locations. We noticed right away that our compressors did not cycle as much and there was no change in the product. Also, we noticed that our utility bill has decreased significantly.” — Richard Stakofsky, Owner/Franchisee, Carvel “This is to confirm the installation of PowerCubes on all the reach-in and walk-in refrigeration. Since installation, the amount of on/off cycling of the units has fallen by 30%, which will no doubt improve the longevity of the condenser units. Energy savings have been measured at around 18-20%, depending on the individual units, and this has resulted in savings of over a thousand pounds a year in total. I would not hesitate to recommend installation of these units to refrigerators and freezers in order to save electricity and wear on the equipment.” — Andy Bunce, Group Engineer, Holiday Inn Kings Cross, London “When we first heard about the PowerCube, we wanted to test it as quickly as possible. We arranged for a large scale trial to be completed, and once the results were in, we immediately implemented the PowerCube at the Riverbank Park Plaza. As a result of installing over 150 PowerCubes, we are saving approximately £17,000 per year on our electricity bill. Since the successful trial at Riverbank, the PowerCube is now being installed throughout the Park Plaza Hotels in the UK.” — David Bell, Chief Engineer, Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel “When we saw the advertisement for the PowerCube, we were just beginning our environmental project. Trials were set up, and the savings made it an invaluable product to use. We have asked all our 150 kitchens to have them fitted and our client response has been extremely positive. I have no hesitation to recommend them to others.” — Caroline Fry, Joint Managing Director, Charlton House Catering Services Ltd “The PowerCubes will translate to a yearly savings of roughly $4,800 in electricity and are a great move in the right direction for the green side of campus.” — Jordan Loyd, Chair of the USG Sustainability Committee, University of Denver “We have carried out trials with PowerCube in one of our customer sites, Roadchef services Northampton . . . . . . [and] we carefully monitored the refrigeration equipment and food temperatures. I can see the benefit of the PowerCube for the more efficient use of the refrigeration equipment, safer food, and energy savings solutions to the food manufacturing and storage industry. I have no hesitation to recommend this product to others. — Vince Presti, Central Regional Manager, Capital Cooling “ In July 2007, our Environmental Management System was accredited to ISO 14001 and the roll-out of PowerCube into our business forms a major part of the program of projects and initiatives integral to our EMS. So far, we have over 200 PowerCubes installed into fridges and freezers throughout our business, saving our clients not only money and energy, but also reducing CO2 emissions.” — Mike Hanson, Head of Sustainability & Environmental Management, BaxterStorey “We conducted trials of the PowerCube energy saving device at Radisson SAS London Stansted Airport and Radisson SAS London Portman Hotel. During the trial, we fitted one unit to a walk-in cold room and one unit to an upright fridge. We monitored the kWh consumption for one week with the unit fitted and one week without. We found that we were showing a 9% reduction in electrical consumption week on week. Following the trial, I have had 84 PowerCube devices fitted to various refrigeration units at both the above properties. Year-on-year savings on electrical consumption have been 18%. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product to any hotel as a cost-effective way to reduce electrical consumption and also to prolong the working life of their equipment.” — Simon Pearson, Chief Engineer, Radisson SAS London Stansted Airport Hotel and Portman Hotel Testimonials © 2011 Senergy Solar Corp

DESCRIPTION

The revolutionary add-on device, called POWERCUBE, completely isolates the temperature sensor from the air and, instead, encapsulates it with an engineered food simulant, so that the sensor monitors equivalent food temperature. With POWERCUBE in place on your thermostat, your system can regulate according to the temperature of yogurt or frozen meat, for instance, instead of the temperature of air. POWERCUBE controls the compressor with incredible accuracy to significantly reduce the frequency of costly on/off cycles. This document lists testimonials and FAQs.

What’s inside PowerCube?POWERCUBE contains a patented, inert, non-toxic, high-molecular weight, aliphatic hydrocarbon compound that mimics the thermal density of food.

How do I know this is safe for my food products?Originally invented as a food safety device, POWERCUBE was accidentally discovered to save energy as well. POWERCUBE is NSF approved as a food safety deviceand there is an NSF logo on every unit sold. Users can feel comfortable that their food products are at least as safe (or even safer) than they were before installation. In NSFstudies, the POWERCUBE actually achieved a more consistent food product temperature over time (i.e., fewer fluctuations).

Does PowerCube meet FDA regulations for health inspection?Absolutely.  Health inspectors typically probe foods inside refrigeration units to determine food core temperature.  Since POWERCUBE regulates core food temperature moreaccurately and consistently, the inspections will meet FDA guidelines for food safety.

How can a PowerCube mimic different types of food?POWERCUBE does not mimic specific foods. Instead, the food simulant inside POWERCUBE is designed to take on the general thermal properties of food. Whether liquidor solid, food of all types is exponentially denser than air. Since POWERCUBE has a similar density to food, it responds to temperature influence in much the same way. Therefore it’s more efficient at maintaining all food types at consistent and desirable temperatures than a system that monitors ambient air temperature.

How long does a PowerCube last?Because there is nothing mechanical or electronic to wear out, the lifetime of a POWERCUBE is indefinite.

How much electricity does the PowerCube save? This depends on various factors, which include the type, age, location, and condition of the refrigeration equipment, together with the ambient air temperature of the environment. Energysavings are usually between 20 - 35%, although significantly better results have been achieved. Generally speaking, more energy is saved on freezers than on refrigerators.

Does the PowerCube work on all refrigerators? It is estimated that a POWERCUBE will work on approximately 95% of all refrigeration. Most modern refrigeration units use microprocessors with electronic sensors that fitproperly within a POWERCUBE. The versatility of the POWERCUBE is only limited by the size of the sensor or thermostat phial. If the commercial refrigeration sensor istoo large, it would be well worthwhile to add a microprocessor so that the POWERCUBE can be attached.

How soon does the PowerCube start to save on the consumption of electricity?Upon installation, if the POWERCUBE is at room temperature initially, it will start to save electricity within an hour, once the food simulant in the product has cooled down.

We already have a food monitoring system . . . so why a PowerCube? There are some stand-alone food monitoring systems available that allow users to install a device into a refrigeration case, transmitting food temperature back to a monitoring system.More importantly, POWERCUBE not only monitors temperature but also automatically regulates optimum cycle times based on temperature of food instead of air. This pays hugedividends in the form of energy savings. So, POWERCUBE is truly a self-financing food temperature monitoring and regulating system, putting it way ahead of the competition.

Will installing PowerCube affect my manufacturer's equipment warranty? No. A manufacturer’s warranty is for defects in materials or workmanship, neither of which are affected by POWERCUBE. POWERCUBE has no mechanical or electrical parts and istherefore “non-invasive” to the refrigeration system. There is no functional difference between installing an POWERCUBE and changing the usage pattern of the cooler or freezer.

Do electronic delays built into refrigeration units do what PowerCube does? No.  They serve two entirely different functions.  Electronic delays are designed to protect the microprocessor while the air sensor continues to monitor the ambient temperature.Electronic delays do not affect the compressor cycling patterns, which is how POWERCUBE ultimately delivers energy savings.

How does this work with an evaporator system?By simply substituting the existing evaporator thermostat with an inexpensive air thermostat, POWERCUBE can deliver the same energy and equipment savings in an evaporator system.

How does this work with a pressure system? It can work with a pressure system, if thermostats are used in the cases and the system is reconfigured to regulate refrigeration supply based on changes in POWERCUBEtemperature. Alternatively, it can simply be used as a food monitoring system, sending product temperature back to the IT system for each case or zone.

Is it difficult to install the PowerCube or can anyone do it?It’s necessary to know where the correct sensor is located and how to access it in order to install the POWERCUBE and to make any set-point adjustments if necessary. Forthat reason, it should be fitted by a qualified refrigeration engineer.

How does PowerCube affect the outside temperature gauge?POWERCUBE lowers the inside air temperature and, therefore, the temperature reflected on the outside gauge. The temperature on the display will also be more accuratelyrepresented since it will not be as influenced by warm air rushing into the case from an open door just before an inspection.

What is PowerCube's product warranty?POWERCUBE comes with a five year limited warranty.  There are no moving parts to POWERCUBE so there is nothing to break down or repair.  All you will see is savings.
