2 THE EAST PENN ADVANTAGE

East Penn Canada has partnered with FCA Canada, to

supply Authentic Mopar Replacement Batteries direct

to the FCA Dealer network. This summary outlines

the policies, procedures, terms and conditions of the

program and explains the sales and marketing support

available to all Dealers. East Penn Canada is 100%

committed to working closely with the FCA Dealer

network so that battery sales and profits are maximized.

Mopar Canada

BATTERY PROGRAM OVERVIEW

ORDERING AND BILLING PROCEDURES

• FCA Dealers will order batteries through DealerCONNECT and place their stock order from the part numbers listed.

• Orders may be placed at any time.

• Mopar Authentic Replacement Batteries purchased through the DealerCONNECT portal will be invoiced directly to the Dealer by FCA Canada.

• Should you become aware of a billing discrepancy, you are required to complete the SSD fax form and send it to FCA Canada. This form is located on DealerCONNECT > eFiles > Parts > Forms.

EMERGENCY ORDER PROCEDURE

• East Penn Canada’s Service Representatives will work hard with you, making order suggestions and inventory models to ensure that you have sufficient inventory at all times. In the event that an FCA Dealer runs out of stock, the Mopar Battery Program will offer a “Hot Shot“ Emergency Delivery System. The “Hot Shot” Emergency System will provide same day or next day delivery in most metro areas.

Step 1 - FCA Dealers place their “Hot Shot” order on DealerCONNECT, just as they would with any other battery order.

Step 2 - FCA Dealer calls the local East Penn Canada servicing branch (please see back of program guide for your local servicing branch contact information) or the East Penn Canada Central Hot Line at 1-800-668-9303 (Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST) and provides their FCA Dealer Code to Customer Service to place an order with your order number.

Step 3 - FCA Dealer advises the East Penn servicing branch or local Service Representative that they have a vehicle down and that they have placed an emergency order.

Emergency orders have no minimum order requirements, however, East Penn Canada asks that Dealers use this option only as a matter of last resort. In addition to assistance with Hot Shot orders, the FCA Account Specialist can assist FCA Dealers with general “order status” requests.

FREIGHT POLICY

• All FCA Dealers will be shipped direct, prepaid anywhere in Canada with a minimum 5 unit battery order

• All orders will be delivered within 5 business days of receipt of order. East Penn has regularly scheduled trucks in your area, and when possible we ask that you use this schedule when ordering your batteries.

• Emergency pick-up is available at all East Penn Canada warehouse locations with your order number entered in DealerCONNECT.

• Dealers can pick up orders at any East Penn Canada branch location provided they have placed their order in DealerCONNECT and provide a valid purchase order number. There are no appointments necessary for pick up orders, but a phone call ahead to the branch will speed up your pick up process.

DELIVERY DETAILS

• Upon delivery, the East Penn delivery driver will require an authorized signature from the appropriate Dealership personnel on a Delivery Ticket from East Penn, which documents batteries being delivered.

• The Dealer will be given a copy of this form, and we suggest that the Dealer keep a copy in their records to reconcile their invoices.

• At time of delivery, the driver will also pick up the cores and document the pick up on a Returned Goods Authorization Form. A copy of the RGA will be given to the Dealer. (See Scrap [Core] Recycle Process below for detailed information).

SERVICE CYCLE

• FCA Dealers will be visited by East Penn Canada Sales Representatives on a regular basis to provide inventory management and product knowledge support to Parts and Service staff.

• Upon request, East Penn Service Representatives will participate in regional Dealer meetings and provide training or assistance at Dealer events. FCA Dealers can choose to participate in a weekly call out program from East Penn Customer Service which will inform them when a regularly scheduled delivery truck will be in their area. Should a Dealer need inventory this would be a great time to order.

• Service cycles will depend on the Dealers distance from their East Penn Canada servicing branch. Contact your servicing branch for further information.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

East Penn Canada Sales Representatives will work with each Dealer to:

• Establish a model stocking inventory to ensure most profitable mix and reduce stock outs; and

• Help ensure product is clean and fully charged and is being sold on a “first-in-first-out” basis.

• Slow moving products can be returned with an offsetting order as long as the batteries are less than a year old and in saleable condition. If the Dealer allows the East Penn Sales Representative access to their inventory, on each sales visit they will identify batteries coming up on 9 months of age, and will rotate or pick up and recharge inventory.

WARRANTY

• Your warranty has been established by FCA and ranges from 48, 36, 28 and 12 months free replacement warranty as outlined in DealerCONNECT

• Should a Customer’s battery fail within the free replacement period, a replacement battery is to be supplied at no charge.

• Note that a brand new, full warranty applies to all warranty replacement batteries.

• Warranty claims are to be made through DealerCONNECT.

SCRAP (CORE) RECYCLE PROGRAM:

• At time of delivery East Penn Canada will also pick up the cores, detailing the number of cores and batteries for recycling on a RGA form. A copy will be given to the Dealership. This numbered RGA form will ensure accurate crediting for the scrap that is picked up and will be noted as your “Customer P.O “on your remittance from East Penn to ensure ease of tracing your core credits.

• East Penn Canada will pick up spent batteries during their regular scheduled visits.

• A scrap value core credit of $15 for each scrap battery returned will be issued by East Penn Canada directly to your Dealership by cheque on a monthly basis.

• East Penn Canada’s Marketing Department will develop customized bilingual point of purchase material support material and ongoing incentives to drive battery sales. These materials include:

• Battery Rack Display with custom Mopar header card

• Care / Maintenance and Warranty Tri–Fold The tri-fold is a “fit in the glove box” pamphlet outlining proper care and maintenance of their new battery purchase as well as their outlying warranty period for the battery.

• Seasonal Poster Campaigns – East Penn will be designing an exciting poster campaign for your service area focusing on the importance of battery testing and maintenance to help you sell more batteries all year round.

• $10 Off Consumer Mail-in Rebate Program This is a great opportunity to convince that “on the fence” buyer that now is the time for a battery replacement with a FCA funded $10.00 mail in rebate coupon. This $10 mail-in rebate may be just the incentive they need. This program will be run over key times during the year to maximize success for your dealership.

Marketing Support

• $10 Off Sticker Promotion for batteries to keep your customer coming back to your Dealership. A $10 off peel and stick coupon to be placed on the battery, battery case or under the hood in a visible spot, will bring that vehicle back to your bay when it is time or getting close to the time for a new battery

This minimal $10 investment by your Dealership to get that car back into your service bay will lead to increased service visits and increased retention rates.

• Rear View Mirror Hanger - East Penn will provide you with Rear View Mirror Hangers promoting the $10 off coupon you placed under the hood and also has a space for you to display testing results. This is another great opportunity to sell more batteries and get that vehicle returning to your service bay.

Delivering a quality product is East Penn’s number one priority,

and that is why we only use the finest raw materials available and

follow the best manufacturing processes and procedures.

While other battery manufacturers may incorporate some of the

following features into their products, no other manufacturer

includes all of them like East Penn, nor do they incorporate them

with quite the same standard of excellence. That is why most of East

Penn’s manufacturing technology and procedures are proprietary

and developed by their in-house engineering team.

Product Features

HOW EAST PENN BUILDS A BETTER BATTERY VS OTHERS IN THE INDUSTRY

• 100% calcium alloy plates - provide higher cranking amp capacity and up to one year shelf life. *Others in the industry use Antimony or a hybrid with only 3-6 month shelf life and lower cranking amp capacity. Calcium plates also deliver 40% more life cycles than Antimony or hybrid, which means battery life is extended by up to 40% compared to others.

• Micro-porous, narrow-ribbed, deep pocket envelope separators - eliminate shorts and improve reliability, extending battery life.

• Computer cast “power path” full-frame grids on both positive and negative plates - ensure fast, instant starts and longer service life.

• Computer-controlled curing process - for high performance and consistent quality.

• De-mineralized electrolyte - removes impurities for true maintenance-free performance and extended service life.

• Computer-controlled formation - ensures optimal initial charge for long-term high performance and longer life.

• Dual sided plate pasting - leaves no exposed plate surface to cause short circuits

• Forged terminals and bushings - eliminate porosity and leakage of corrosive gasses

battery recycling program

Virtually 100% of a lead acid battery is recycled and re-used in the production of new batteries:

• Our state-of-the-art secondary lead smelter has been designated by the EPA as a model site for the lead recycling industry.

• Our closed loop system is automated and computer-controlled, with no hazardous emissions.

• East Penn Manufacturing holds the exclusive patents to a unique acid reclamation process, which allows us to re-use millions of gallons of clean, reclaimed acid in our new batteries and avoid potentially hazardous acid disposal.

• Spent lead acid batteries are fed into a massive battery breaker which separates the used lead, plastic and acid.

• Lead is smelted, refined and used in the production of new batteries.

• Plastic is shredded, cleaned and re-used for battery cases, covers and other plastic parts.

• Industrial waste water is chemically treated and purified for re-use in our battery acid mixing process and production facility.

• Sulfur fumes trapped during lead smelting are processed into liquid fertilizer and sold locally.

• Heat from the furnaces are used to warm plant buildings.

The lead is processed and smelted in the

reverberatory furnace, producing metal which

goes to the refinery. There it is placed in kettles,

combined with reagents and alloyed into lead for

use in new batteries.

LEAD

The recycled plastic from the battery cases and tops

are reclaimed in the plastic recovery plant, where

it is cleaned and separated into polypropylene and

lead-bearing materials. Polypropylene is recycled to

make cases and covers for new batteries and other

plastic products.

PLASTIC

Battery acid is recycled in a patented acid

reclamation plant. This one-of-a-kind,

computer-controlled facility allows recycling of

used battery acid for use in the production of

new batteries.

WHY TESTING BATTERIES SELLS MORE BATTERIES

RECENT INSTALLER STUDY PROVES TESTING SELLS MORE BATTERIES!

Prior to test:• 7 batteries sold per 100 transactions

During test:• 21 problem batteries identified per 100 transactions• 14 batteries sold per 100 transactionsData Source - East Penn Canada

DEALERSHIP BENEFITS:

Testing batteries will allow you to more easily identify sales opportunities. More than just a sale, a formal battery testing program will:

• Increase customer satisfaction, trust and loyalty

• Reinforce customer perception that the dealership is their vehicle expert and that it is imperative they return to the dealership for all service work

• Reduce chances that the customer will go elsewhere when their battery does fail

• Reduce chances of customer dissatisfaction with the dealership should their battery fail without warning shortly after being serviced

CUSTOMER BENEFITS:

A formal battery testing program will provide these significant benefits to your customers:

• Peace of mind – the customer knows the condition of their battery and they can trust you are looking after their safety and best interests

• Control – the customer can make an informed choice about when to make a battery purchase

• Knowledge – the customer can be made aware of the features and benefits of a Mopar replacement battery, such as quality and dependability

• Convenience – your dealership has the correct size, fitment and specifications required for their vehicle

• Time and cost savings – by replacing their battery before it fails and leaves them stranded, the customer can avoid the time, cost and stress associated with a dead battery

Fact: The average lifespan of a battery in Canada is 4.5 – 5 years

• A battery’s condition and performance level deteriorates with age, particularly when used under severe service conditions.

OPPORTUNITY:We believe you can (at least) double your battery sales by testing every battery that comes through your bays.

Fact: Testing batteries sells more batteries!

• Most consumers never think about their battery until it stops working and so they do not have it tested on a regular basis. A formal battery testing program to educate consumers on the importance of battery maintenance and monitors battery health in all vehicles two years or older not only maximizes battery sales, it further builds consumer trust and confidence.

Maximize Your Battery Sales By Testing Batteries

THE EAST PENN ADVANTAGE 11

Explain to the customer that it is best to replace their battery before it fails. Most customers do not understand how batteries work and therefore many will hesitate to replace their battery when it still starts their vehicle.

Explain how a battery fails and the primary factors that influence life:

• Age – Tell the customer how old their battery is (the average life of a battery in Canada is 4.5 to 5 years)

• Weather – Extreme heat deteriorates batteries and cold temperatures reduce available power. Once the temperature begins to drop, the battery has to work harder to start the vehicle. So, if winter is approaching, it would be prudent to replace the battery now so they don’t get caught in a no-start situation.

• Excessive electrical drain weakens internal structure and reduces life. Explain to the customer that if they drive in heavy city traffic and operate their lights, windshield wipers, heater/air conditioner and/or radio for any length of time, their battery may not be fully charged at all times, because the alternator can only recharge the battery if they are moving at a certain minimum speed (about 60 kph depending on the manufacturer).

• If the battery operates at less than full charge over a period of time, this causes the part of the plate surfaces to sulfate. The sulfated portion can no longer be used to generate power and the battery gets weaker. The more often this situation occurs, the faster the battery sulfates and loses its ability to generate as much power as when it was new.

• If they are driving a vehicle with lots of accessories, then purchasing a higher capacity battery becomes even more important. Explain why it is important to replace a battery before it fails:

• To avoid getting stranded

• To avoid incurring costs and losing time when the battery does fail

• Costs: towing, boost

• Time: late for work, appointment and/or picking up their children

Tell the customer about the features and benefits of Mopar replacement batteries:

• Made to meet FCA’s vehicle specification in terms of voltage, physical size and terminal configuration

• Compatible with FCA’s vehicles electrical and charging systems

• Trusted and dependable Mopar name

• Competitively priced

• Substantial warranty period
