Group of companies are intensively exchanging their know-how. This is the only way to ensure

that the joint venture ranks as one of the technology and market leaders in thermal power

generation systems and services. These examples are clear evidence for the innovative power

of the MHPS subsidiaries in Europe.

A NETWORK FOR QUALITY

Since 2006 more than two dozen power plants in Europe,

South Africa and India – with an installed 27,500 MW

capacity – have either been placed into service or are

currently being built by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems

Europe.

In contrast to most other companies in the power plant

business, the German energy plant constructor has its own

manufacturing facilities for major components. These include

utility steam generator pressure parts, headers, coal mills

and burners. This frees the company to a considerable

extent from employing subcontractors and creates a true

“Network for Quality”.

HIGHLY EFFICIENT AND READY FOR THE MARKET

A consortium with Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe

acting as system integrator is currently setting up a plant in

Lünen, Germany, in which carbon dioxide from a coal power

plant and hydrogen are converted into methanol.

Methanol can not only be admixed with petrol / diesel and

processed into various motor fuels. It is also in great demand

as a basic material for processing in the chemical industry.

This technology (“Power-to-Fuel”, PtF) also permits large-

scale storage of wind and solar power. Operations of the

demonstration plant will start during 2017.

ENERGY FROM THE “LIFEBLOOD” OF THE EARTH

Since 1975, MHPS has delivered over 100 geother-

mal turbines internationally, each one capable of

producing 3,000 MW or more.

This project produces “clean”, low carbon energy via

a turbine powered by steam naturally available

from the local environment. MHPS worked

closely with the owner to minimise the visual im-

pact of the plant on the surrounding environment

by implementing a compact design for the turbine

house.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

DESIGNED FOR PERFORMANCE

The Magnum Project based in the Netherlands is a state

of the art gas-fired combined cycle power plant, utilising

the latest M701F4 gas turbines.

This technology is designed to provide the highest perfor-

mance combined with maximum overall plant efficiency.

The project has a 3 x single shaft configuration providing

a gross power output of 1,311 MW.

SERVICES DESIGNED FOR EXCELLENCE

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe has a well-es-

tablished, highly technical organization to support service

operations across Europe, the Middle East and the North

Africa region. Our approach is to develop long term rela-

tionships with our customers so that maximum efficien-

cies and outputs can consistently be achieved.

The contract extension in September 2014 between

Enerjisa Enerji Üretim A.S and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power

Systems Europe saw the continuation of a long term relation-

ship and our engineers congratulated for their outstanding

contribution to the successful operations of the plant.
