    CONCERNS AND COMPLAINTS

  • • A place where Basic Soccer skills are developed.

    • A place where fair play and honor are instilled.

    • A place to have fun and form new friendships.

    • A place to develop good sportsmanship.

    • A place to develop teamwork.

    • A place where all children are accepted regardless of ability, gender, or cultural background.

    • A place where they will enjoy soccer in a PRESSURE FREE environment.

    MINI SOCCER – What it is:

  • • A place to form rep-like teams.

    • A place where scoring is kept. NO STATS RECORDED

    • A place where discouragement takes place due to a player not participating in the games or practices because they are not good enough.

    • A place where coaches are paid or gain financially from coaching.

    • A place where winning is the only goal.

    MINI SOCCER – What it is not:

  • • Tears

    • Self-Centered Play

    • Distractibility

    • Low Independence

    • Total and Utter Commitment to whatever it is they are doing at the moment

    • Physical limitations

    WHAT TO EXPECT

  • REGISTERED PLAYERSPlayers must be registered with a EMSA team to participate in games [or] practices. If they are not listed on your roster they cannot play.

    Can only be registered with 1 team per season.

  • EQUIPMENT, CASTS, SPLINTS & JEWELRY Player equipment shall consist of: Shirt, shorts, socks, SHIN-GUARDS MANDATORY Footwear- NO CLEATS. Flat-soled running shoe.

    NO hard casts/ splints. Soft braces (knee, ankle, wrist etc.) are allowed provided that

    the brace does not have the potential to injure others. NO piercings. NO jewelry.

  • CORRESPONDENCE LIAISONCOACHES, ASSISTANT COACHES, MANAGERS ARE THE ACTING CORRESPONDENCE LIAISON FOR THEIR TEAM.

    ANY & ALL communication between EMSA West / EMSA Main and individual teams will be done through the teams’ correspondence liaison ONLY.

    • Concerns & Complaints must be submitted IN WRITING by the correspondence liaison

    • Please select (1) team official to represent your team • All communication from the EMSA West office to the correspondence

    liaison will be sent via email. • Please ensure that the EMSA West office is given an alternate email

    address, should you be unavailable for a period of time.

  • HARASSMENTEMSA has zero tolerance for any form of:• harassment, • bullying, • discrimination [or]• intimidation

    Any EMSA player, team official, game official, parent or other participant who engages in such behaviour towards another EMSA player, team official, game official, parent or other participant will be subject to

    discipline by the EMSA Discipline Committee.

    Soccer Facilities' staff will remove patrons for poor behaviour.

    Coaches are responsible for the behaviour of their spectators.

  • PARENT CONTACT Get parents on your side. Be positive, but understand that you are the coach.

    Make sure parents understand what you are trying to accomplish and how you will be going about it. Explain the objectives to the parents at the beginning of the season. Make sure parents understand the Zone’s philosophy and your

    intentions.

    Communicate safety rules (ex. shin guards required, no jewelry)

    Stress how important it is for their child to have water and go to the bathroom before soccer.

    Ask parents to have players there 15 minutes early.

    will be the teams responsibility.

  • SHARED SPACEPlease ask parents to have players dressed and ready prior to arriving at the soccer center.

    Due to limited gym time, there are some weekends that your gym will have 2 games scheduled.

    Your schedule will indicate which side of the gym you will be on. (A or B)

    We ask that parents view from the bleachers. Parents/ Guardians are not allowed on the soccer field/ bench (unless bench parent or invited by Team Official)

  • GYM TIMEBe prepared to be on the field at your assigned time, each team is allotted 55 minutes on the field.

    EXAMPLE: 8:00 start time 8:00 – 8:20 Skills and Drills 8:20 -8:25 – water break and set up lines to start game 8:25 -8:55 – 2 x 15 minute halves of the game

    The game must end at 8:55

  • U4/U5 Game3 v. 3• Substitutions: We suggest 2-3 minutes rotating shifts or

    during any stoppage of play.

    • Equal playtime for all.

    • Rotate players through all positions.

  • COACHES / BENCH ATTENDANTThere will be one coach from each team on the field. Each

    coach will take one side. Coaches are to encourage and “referee” their team. (There are no referees at this age). Do not block the goal area.

    One coach or parent from each team will be on the bench to direct the players on to the field.

    1 Team Official/ bench parent must be the SAME GENDER as the players.
