If you could write a letter to
any biblical figure and ask
them a series of questions
knowing they would respond,
who would it be and why?
This letter is from Paul,
an apostle of Christ Jesus,
appointed by the
command of God our
Savior and Christ Jesus,
who gives us hope.
1 Timothy 1:1 NLT
I am writing to Timothy, my true son
in the faith. May God the Father and
Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace,
mercy, and peace.
1 Timothy 1:2 NLT
When I left for Macedonia, I urged
you to stay there in Ephesus and stop
those whose teaching is contrary to
the truth.
1 Timothy 1:3 NLT
Don’t let them waste their time in
endless discussion of myths and
spiritual pedigrees. These things only
lead to meaningless speculations,
which don’t help people live a life of
faith in God.
1 Timothy 1:4 NLT
Don't become devoted to
something that leads to endless
speculations, wastes your time,
and doesn't help you live a life
of faith in God.
Paul's cultural examples
do not invalidate his
principles for today.
Don't become devoted to
something that leads to endless
speculations, wastes your time,
and doesn't help you live a life
of faith in God.

Is there something you
have made a huge priority
in your life that isn't a
priority for God?
The purpose of my instruction is that
all believers would be filled with love
that comes from a pure heart, a clear
conscience, and genuine faith.
1 Timothy 1:5 NLT
1. Be filled with love that
comes from a pure heart
2. Have a clear conscience
3. Have a genuine faith
But some people have missed this
whole point. They have turned away
from these things and spend their
time in meaningless discussions.
1 Timothy 1:6 NLT
Most people who emphasize
behavior over love, love to
tell other people about
someone else's behavior.
Don't think it falls entirely on
you to change someone else's
mind. Leave some room for the
Holy Spirit to work.
When we become obsessed with an
issue, to the point of arguing and
causing division, it says more
about our lack of faith in God than
it does about our commitment to
right belief and right practice.
They want to be known as teachers of
the law of Moses, but they don’t
know what they are talking about,
even though they speak so
confidently.
