How do we teach phonics in KS1?In KS1 we teach phonics through the Letters and Sounds phonics scheme. We set across the two year groups for daily phonics lessons, with each set taught in small attainment groups where children work on the appropriate phase. Through regular assessment, we track the children's progress and move pupils between groups as necessary. There are also daily phonics interventions to give extra support for targeted children.
