CSPS has expanded this programme throughout the whole school. There are 5 keys which aim to develop young people’s social and emotional capabilities

Defence School Transition Aide
Approximately 70% of the students at CSPS are the children of Royal Australian Air Force personnel. Therefore we employee a DSTA to provide welfare support to the children of defence families. The DSTA supports with:
Acting as a guide to new families and mentor for individual children
Preparing our students for relocation Offering comfort and support to parents and children
through a range of issues, ie. family breakdown, deployment etc
If there is an issue with a student the DSTA will be there to help in anyway he/she can

Documents such as guidelines, policies, responsibilities etc can be found on the school database/portal
There are some policies found on the school website at www.schools.nt.edu.au/csps
All new staff are issued with a login name and password to access all information
How to clarify any information that may not be
clear in the documents If something is not clear feel free to ask.The Principal, Assistant Principal or Admin
will be happy to help clarify any information that may not be clear. If they don’t have the answers you may be able to find it on the education department website
Employee Rights and Responsibilities
Each teacher will make contact with the parents of all students in their class within the first 5 weeks of the school year either by greeting them during drop off/pick up or by making a phone call
Each teacher needs to send out a newsletter introducing themselves and explaining the class routine. Teachers will also send out a newsletter each term to keep the parents up to date
Teachers are not to leave students alone in the classroom Teachers on yard duty have to wear an orange vest and
are not allowed to leave the yard until their replacement arrives
All teachers owe a duty of care to the students, staff and themselves

procedures Report any suspected bullying to the Principal Always take detailed notes directly after an incident. Include

grounds that a student has been subjected to improper conduct of a sexual nature by any person associated with the school, whether during or outside normal school hours, they must report that belief to either the Principal or if he is not available, to the Assistant Principal.
