VISIONS OF CULLEN PARK UPDATES VISIONS OF CULLEN PARK UPDATES

At the October meeting Police Officer Dave O'Brien was recognized upon his retirement after 33 years of dedication to Toledo and the Point/Shoreland Community. He was very helpful and supportive to Visions along the way which was so appreciated. We thank him for his service.

Only one boat dock remains at Cullen Park at this time. The fishing and kayak docks have also been removed for the winter.

Jody Prude has replaced Rick Akeman as Manager of Parks who has been assigned to another department. We are sorry to lose Rick but look forward to meeting Jody and working with her.

A reminder that there is available space in the containers on the kiosk to advertise your business. They accommodate flyers or brochures and it's FREE!

The next meeting is November 28th at CrossPoint Church. There will not be a meeting in December.

Happy Turkey Day! Till the next time, Vee. [email protected]

PPBA NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2018 8

Come out for our Annual Feather Party!

What is a Feather Party? Our department uses a system where we sell tickets for 25 cents apiece. Each round is for 2 spins. The first spin is for a meat bought from our area meat market. (Turkey, Ham, Kielbasa, Steak, etc.) The second spin is for Door Prizes, donated from area businesses. I've not done research, but I believe when Feather Parties were first started there were live turkeys running around, or in cages or something, thus the name! We sell food and soda, have a Big 6 wheel available for gambling, as well as a 50/50 and the auction item donations periodically auctioned off over each night. The one thing that my department does is selling tickets for $1 for a Full Turkey Dinner! It contains all the fixins' for a feast! An appx 12 lb turkey, stuffing, potatoes, milk, corn, festive cranberry sauce shaped like a can....It's a big deal. Feather Party is our only annual event, I encourage you to look us up and stop by. We cover a small area, that's primarily residential. But we are a well-known department, working hard for those we serve.
