This admirable and clear text is updated and enriched by an interesting and vast iconography which originated from the enthusiasm of two competent men who are experts in their professions. Both have always managed to give their professions a cultural impulse, seeking and finding, both in Italy and all over the world, renovating sources and worthy teachers, from whom they have drawn knowledge, advice and exchange of ideas. This text is the keeper of decades of professional activity and constant updating, thanks to which the authors have been able to find a balanced mixture between theoretical concepts and practical applications.

They have proposed recent topics of modern dentistry and dental techniques, comparing them with consolidated methodologies. They have also been able to elaborate and describe fortunate personal intuitions, further enriching their work. Through detailed descriptions, the authors have constantly underlined the fundamental importance of teamwork; premises to achieve success in the challenging prosthodontic sector are persistently pointed out in every chapter: competence, updating, good materials, adequate instruments, but more importantly, commitment, great responsibility, mutual respect and deep sense of collaboration.

This book contains fifteen smile selections for cosmetic design, with great attention given to detailed tooth color and shape. This book can be used as a starting point for communication with your patient. It will help explain how to receive the predictable quality work from your lab that matches your patients’ expectations.

Over the course of the last two years, Luke Kahng has studied 900 patient cases through custom shading. This book presents some of those studies. Kahng has carefully studied what is most popular with patients and has presented three different transitional colors and four surface textures within this book.

This book is the result of international collaboration and the subsequent scientific research studies published in noted international journals, while the other part is evidence-based information illustrated by clinical procedures. Interaction with many researchers in universities and industry around the world created the foundation for this project. This book endeavors to present the principles of matter, describing, from the atom to the structure, the basic properties of ceramics thereby providing a basis by which to understand the applications and failures of this material. Additionally, this book describes the importance between: (1) basic principles and properties as well as the development of experiments to obtain and/or test them; (2) ceramic microstructures, properties and failures; (3) in vitro experiments and clinical applications; and (4) properties and material selection according to the clinical application. The intention of this book is to enhance the knowledge of students, researchers and clinicians with regard to ceramics, adhesion mechanisms, quality research design, material selection and clinical performance of dental ceramics. To this end, this evidence-based textbook presents high quality illustrations and imaging resources, including 3D Anaglyph Images - Glasses included!

Inspiration, wonder and admiration will certainly be some of the feelings that readers will experience as soon as they become visually and intellectually involved in this craftwork. A text that goes beyond organizing and concisely and pragmatically illustrating very valuable concepts of the relationship between the dentist and the dental prosthesis.

If we all agree that this successful relationship has developed in such a manner that it is currently conceived as “symbiotic”; through the pages of “Invisible Restorations”, the work of Kina, Bruguera and their collaborators, consistently allows this successful symbiosis to conquer a new dimension.

The book presents abundant illustrative material of excellent quality and good taste, with 10 chapters on pure ceramic restorations in natural and implant supported teeth. It deals with subjects related to the preparation of teeth for various types of prosthetic requirements. Adhesive cementation and different aspects related to bonding is discussed. Nowadays, patients are increasingly concerned about and interested in esthetics. They want to have their teeth well aligned, white and perfect. Frequently, they demand their prostheses to be even better than their original teeth. To achieve this, they seek all the existing alternatives that will meet their esthetic demands. Metal-free or pure ceramic prostheses already form part of the dentist’s daily routine. This book gives the dentist the opportunity to acquire the knowledge to become skilled in making all-ceramic prostheses and leave his/her patients satisfied with the esthetic appearance of their teeth.

The technique described uses a ridge lap pontic with circumferential pressure applied on the edentulous ridge during placement of the restoration, produced after scoring the definitive cast. A gradual and controlled pressure transformed an unfavorable tissue configuration, without free space between the soft tissue and restoration. Furthermore, the applied pressure caused soft tissue displacement in an attempt to create the illusion of the pontic emerging from the tissue and the formation of “pseudo” interdental papillae.

The purpose of this book is to acquaint dental technicians and dentists with the importance of surface texture occurring in natural teeth and the possibility of its reproduction. These past years, through the use of microscopic research, Spina has tried to render this largely ignored dental element visible, and at the same time develop possible solutions that are logical, comprehensible, and adaptable to technique. Spina has consulted numerous works while trying to formulate a theory regarding the physical marks commonly found on the surface of natural teeth. The work was complicated and time consuming, but dental technicians and dentists supported and facilitated his efforts. With their help he was able to develop what he calls “The Theory of Surface Marks.” We have reached exceptionally high levels of authenticity in the field of dental aesthetics, but in his judgment more can still be achieved. Spina hopes that his work will contribute to the store of knowledge that deals with the complex subject of dental surfaces. He was a dental technician for thirty years and during that time, surprisingly enough, he was never aware of what today he calls the dental cortex: in other words, the tooth surface. We become aware of things only by asking ourselves questions, and only then does the invisible become visible.

Plan! This is the underlying concept in this book. Careful observation of natural teeth in terms of shape, form, color, and internal structure (dentinal skeleton, incisal plate, and suspension effects) are discussed. The starting point of the stratification technique proposed in this book is an accurate analysis of the internal structure of natural teeth, and is mainly the rational application of rules derived from those found in natural dental elements. The reader is referred to a series of unique images showing teeth in section anchored in the oral cavity. This book will help contribute to your professional development!

Crown-Bridge & Implants – The Art of Harmony is the second book by Luc and Patrick Rutten. This new book displays 1300 photos that outline in an informative and educational manner, the daily cases that Luc and Patrick work on. Full ceramic crowns, bridges, individual abutments and implant restorations are explained and provide material for constructive discussions and interdisciplinary communication about full ceramic materials as well as the Procera system, from a dental technologist point of view.

Todays restorations require keen attention to detail and a harmonious oral environment. The Dental technologist has a huge responsibility towards esthetics, in order to satisfy the patient’s needs. Crown-Bridge & Implant will enhance your ability to respond to the esthetics and comfort requirements that dental technologists face on a daily basis.
