Antony Baldwin

Antony Baldwin was born in London, England in 1957. His early years were spent as a chorister at Southwark Cathedral, London. At 17, he was awarded the Associateship Diploma of the Royal College of Organists, winning the prize for harmony and counter-point, and earned the Fellowship and Choirmaster Diplomas a year later. He studied at the universities of Oxford and Durham, and afterwards embarked on a career in organ playing, choir-training and teaching. Baldwin has made regular visits to the United States as a recitalist and formed his own chamber choir in California. He is a freelance organist and accompanist and sits on the composition review board of the Royal School of Church Music.

As a composer, Baldwin has published anthems, carols, carol arrangements, descants, free hymn accompaniments and organ music. He won the Royal School of Church Music’s Harold Smart Competition for composers in 1996 and 1998.
