I used to be a spoilt child. My parents are quite well off and being an only child, I usually got

what I wanted.

Then one day, my mother and I went shopping. When we were ready to go home, we saw a

scene that would change me for the better.

Sitting at the entrance of the shopping mall was a beggar. This thin, old man had no feet! He

moved about by dragging his stumps along the ground.

I just stood there, looking at him. Tears started flowing down my cheeks so I quickly ran into

my car. I cried all the way home. The sight of the footless man made me realise how lucky I was.

I had always made a fuss about what brand of shoes I wanted but the poor man did not even have

feet. Since the incident I no longer think only about myself and I have even started donating to

charity.
