Shantanurao Laxmanrao Kirloskar was an

Indian businessman. He was the second founder of the Kirloskar Group.

He had read about industrial townships in Europe and America where the owners of industries had built communities for the employees. His dream was to build his own industry and community for his employees; he realized this dream with Kirloskarwadi, a place where he started the Kirloskar Brothers Limited factory in 1910.

He was a global thinker and an enterprising person who had the courage and the confidence in the potential of his own country even in the pre-independence era. He often said, "Economic preparedness is as vital as military preparedness."

He always looked at India as a part of the rest of the world and worked towards making India globally competitive.

He created a business empire that enjoyed one of the highest growth rates in Indianhistory, a staggering 32,401% growth of assets from 1950-1991. Today, the Kirloskar Group is India's largest Engineering Conglomerate.

In May 2003, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India released a commemorative postage stamp

Kirloskar Group, came into existence on March 10, 1910. A group that began as a bicycle repair shop. Kirloskar is the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of domestic, industrial, agriculture, standard industrial pumps and engineered pumps

Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), incorporated in 1920, is a leading manufacturer of centrifugal pumps in India.The company offers products and services customised to clients’ requirements

It is one of the major players in fluid-handling products, and its product offerings include pumps, valves, anticorrosive products and hydro turbines. It has successfully handled turn-key fluid-handling project in domains such as irrigation, power, water supply and treatment.

KBL has four manufacturing plants in India. It has completed many projects involving customized products and services in India as well as other countries.

The company has a recently acquired a contract from the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Senegal, to provide pump-sets worth EUR 21 million.

It also provides products and services to many prominent players in the energy sector, including NTPC, Siemens and Alstom. KBL has a strong global presence through its subsidiaries in the UK and the USA.

It is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited ( TKML ) produces Toyota Vehicles in India.

Mysore Kirloskar ( MK ) produced lathes including CNC types.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited Kirloskar Electric Company ( KEC ) made
