Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the leadingcauses of disability in industrialized societies.
Sewing machine operators face a substantiallyhigher risk of muscle pain and injury than workersin other jobs
The main goal of this paper is: The practical application of a methods for evaluating,
and suggests possible solutions in working conditionsof Adama garment industry,

First a seminar lasting over half an hour was
conducted for the managements of subjects tohelp them understand work related health
problems and symptom recognition so that
responses to the questionnaire would be as
accurate as possible.
The aim of the research was to make the workers
aware that aches and pains felt at work might not
necessarily have been caused by work activities.

The walk-through research yielded the
following interpretation Jobs were varied with respect to products,
processes, and operations,
Tasks were generally repetitive and burdensome
to workers and they feel discomfort, Workspace was overcrowded,
Sitting postures were typically constrained and
uncomfortable.

Many seats were hard and wooden, without a to
prevent tissue compression.
Sharp bending of the neck was common,
combined with sharp bending of the trunk among
taller workers, or moderate bending, among
shorter workers.
Equipment, including sewing machines, was
generally old and inappropriately designed it is
made by other countries standard and imported. The temperature of Adama city was 28c at the
time of research study conducted.

This study examined the ergonomic work conditions
in one of the garment industry
workplace and empirical measurements
applicable to working conditions showed clear
evidence of work practices, workplace conditions and equipment designs that
were unfavorable to productivity, health and
safety.
The injurious effects included relatively high
incidences of musculoskeletal problems

The implementation of these recommendations
yielded significant improvements in productivityand the effects on the workers over a relatively
short period of time.
Adjustable chair with back rest needed for sitsubjects to be made,
Floor mats ,Hog heaven plush anti-fatigue mats
are made of a textured, 100% nitrile rubbersurface for superior chemical and slip resistance
for standing tasks,

And the tables used by the subjects for
ironing, inspection and cutting should bemade as possible to change,
To fit well to the workers by adding
adjustments so as to decrease suffering and illhealth among workers.
The garment industry needs to continuously
identify the problem and, more importantlyimplement solutions to reduce the risk of
injuries in situations.
