An annual event, the Food Eating Competition is a mini Fear Factor where participants were given a number of things to eat. They will have to finish everything at the fastest time possible. This year, the theme was “The 5 Senses” – bitter, sweet, sour, salty and spicy. Participants in teams of 3 were served 3 burger buns each, with ingredients like bitter gourd, condensed milk, lemon, tofu liberally sprinkled with salt, and lots of chopped bird’s eye chillies. Teams were given 5 minutes to do their burgers as they wished. Then, at the word “GO” they had to gobble up their burgers in the fastest time. The team that finishes first has to put up their hands to signal that they have eaten all their food. Plastic lined baskets were also provided in case students needed to use them. A total of 15 teams took part in the competition. Each team had to pay a nominal fee to join the competition. The lobby of Olympia College, Ipoh, was packed with people as friends and supporters cheered the teams on. The winners were a team representing the Young Achievers’ Society (YAS) who finished in total of 9  burgers in 8 minutes. The prize for the competition was RM 150 cash. Throughout the event, there were lot of laughter and shouts of encouragement. According to Ms Cindy Chong, the Principal of Ipoh campus, “We organized the Food Eating Competition so that the students can get together and have fun while understanding team dynamics and need for positive support in achieving a goal.” Olympia’s cutting edge and work-oriented Diploma in Business Studies programme (specialization in Management) will equip every student with the right professional skills for their chosen business career. That is our commitment to our valuable students. Highly qualified lecturers will introduce, reinforce, enhance, and promote ideas and concepts through lectures, tutorial discussions, workshops on business with supplemental audio visual aids. Olympia College is also offering a new business programme – Diploma in Business Management .The objective of the 2 ½ years Diploma in Business Management Programme is to develop students’ interest in and knowledge of the world of business, including an understanding of markets and market economies; the structures, and functioning of business organizations etc. Students need to have 3 SPM credits and a  pass in English or O Levels equivalent qualifications to get into the programme.

The graduates from the Diploma in Business Management/Business Studies Programme will also be

eligible for an additional Higher National Diploma award from Edexcel International, UK on completion

of an integrated project.

The Business Diplomas guarantees entry into 2nd

year of an undergraduate degree locally. Students whowant an international exposure can complete their degree through the University of Information

Technology and Management (UITM), Poland at affordable fees. The Business programmes also allows

entry into the final year of an undergraduate degree abroad.

Olympia also offers the Diploma in Hotel Management Programme. The 2 ½ year Hotel programme

develops the student’s interest, knowledge and understanding of the structure and scope of the hospitality

industry. It also provides graduates with the skills and capabilities to become successful lifelong students,

able to deploy the learning skills that they have acquired in a wide variety of contexts. Students need to

have 3 SPM credits and a pass in English or O Levels equivalent qualifications to enter into this

 programme. Students who complete the Diploma in Hotel Management will :

1) receive an additional Diploma from the Business and Hotel Management School (BHMS)

(Switzerland)*

2) get an additional internationally recognized Higher National Diploma award from Edexcel

International, UK by completing an integrated project*

3) This will pave a way to the final year Bachelor of Arts in Hotel and Hospitality Management at

the BHMS, Switzerland (6 months studying, 6 months working) or other universities in the UK,

USA, Italy and Australia*
