T his means tha t structures and vessels already protected using Fendolite MII may be deem ed to be equally fire rated for both Hydrocarbon Pool Fire and the potentially more destructive fire scenario created by e rosive Jet F ire impingem ent. Jet Fi r e” res istance is increasing ly being required fo r the protection o f steel structures w ithin the oil and g as, and petrochemical industri es. T his type o f t esting evolved from the recognition t ha t f i re resulting from the rupture of pressurised vessels could result in much more destructive fire scenarios tha n th ose involved in sta nda rd hydrocarbon fuelled po ol fires. Fendolite MII w as introduced t o t he ma rket in or around 1980 and has been used extensively on a worldwide basis for fire protection on onshore structures, particularly hydrocarbon processing fa ci lities. The structures protected include, structural steel, pipe ra cks, eq uipment, sto rag e vessels, vessel supports, concret e be a ms and tunnel lining s. Structures protected w ith Fendolite MII have been subjected to a w ide rang e of Fire Resistance tests under a wide va riety o f fire s cena rios. These include, Cellulosic, Hydrocarbon, RWS typ e hig h-rise ( upto 1350°C ) and various Jet fire test conditions. Some of these tests have also included thermal shock tests with very erosive hig h press ure w at er impingemen t af ter f ire exposure. T he close coll era tion in the p erformance of Fendolite MII and a nother CAFCO International prod uct, Mandolite 550. Which is specifically designed for use on Offshore structures has meant that Lloyd`s have accepted that the following Jet Fire tests on Mandolite 550 can now also be applied to Fendolite MII. 1.
