LEGAL ASPECTS IN CONSTRUCTION • The department of admin mainly concentrates in obtaining license for labors, getting legal
approvals for commencing the project and also sticks to the welfare of labors by following the labor legislation welfare acts. Some of them are
Payment of wages act, 1965 The employees compensation act,1923
• License is mandatory for a company if it employs more than 20 labors in a project according to contract labor act (CL act).
• Wages are paid according to the classification of unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled labors.
ENVIRONMETAL HEALTH & SAFETYINTRODUCTION
Safety is given prior importance in the site. The company is OHSAS 18001 certified which is an internationally-applied British standard for occupational health and safety management systems. The company also created its own safety procedure called the SPCL WAY which contains 63 procedures based on all the construction activities and is considered as the bible of SPCL. This SPCL WAY is followed in all the projects done by SP group.
EXECUTION Role of each person is derived and client approval is gained first. The list of activities and sub activities are noted and the risk and hazard in each
activity is determined. Proper steps are taken to eliminate the risk and hazard. Rating of risk is been reduced.
LABOUR SAFETY• Proper health check-up is done before a labour is been appointed for work.
• Child labour is not entertained.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided to all the staffs and labours based on the type of work they deal with.
• PPE includes:• Safety helmets
• High visibility clothing or vest
• Foot protection
• Dust mask
• Hand protection
• Welding mask
• Hearing protection
• Face shield

PROJECT QUALITY REPORT:• From the report, the quality man of month is selected and given reward, so that he works more
efficiently and effectively. It helps to check the deviation in the project.

BAR BENDING SCHEDULE & QUANTITY ESTIMATION SOFTWARE
• Preparation of reinforcement bar bending schedules for RCC work at construction sites is the most tedious and time-consuming task.
• The shape of each and every bar is to be derived exactly for cutting. With increasing cost of steel, it has become necessary to minimize the wastage.
• Bar-be-que software takes care of all these aspects.
• Bar-be-que not only have a standalone option for manual data entry of each bar, but it can also read the rebar details from cad drawings directly.
• It generates bar bending schedule drawings as per IS & BS codes with diameters wise break up of rebar quantities.
PLANNING AND SCHEDULING
PLANNING DEPARTMENT:
Some of the functions of planning department are as follows:
• Scheduling of project
• Preparing monthly plan
• Tracking and monitoring
SCHEDULING OF PROJECT:
• Scheduling of project is done through Microsoft project to form the master construction (MCP).
• The project is split into various work breakdown structures (WBS) and relationship between the activities are established.
• This MCP is revised whenever necessary in accordance with the actual progress of the project.

THIS DEPARTMENT DEALS WITH ALL THE MACHINERIES THAT IS BEEN USED IN SITE.
MACHINERIES USED IN SITE ARE BASICALLY DIVIDED INTO:
• Concreting equipment
• Service/utility equipment
• Reinforcement cutting equipment
• Material handling equipment

• PMV department is responsible for maintaining all the machineries in the site.
• Maintenance records are maintained properly.
• Maintenance is done based on the type of machinery.
• Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly & early maintenance is carried out depending on the need.
• Onsite workshop is available, if not possible to repair in site it will be taken out.
STORES STORES LAYOUT:
• Receipt & inspection of material from suppliers & their storage.
• Picking of materials, their issue & dispatch.
• Stock-taking.
• Stock maintenance, stock turn over, periodic inspection, maintenance&rebinning
STOCK VALUATION:
• FIFO: first in first out
• LIFO: last in first out
• HIFO: highest in first out
• NIFO: next in first out
