DAILY SCRIPTURES AND QUESTIONS Sun October 6 John 13:1-17 Mon October 7 Job 39:13-30 Tue October 8 John 13:18-30 Wed October 9 Job 40:1-24 Thurs October 10 John 13:31-38 Fri October 11 John 14:1-14 Sat October 12 Job 41:1-34
Questions to answer as you read them this week.
1. John 13:1-17 How might I follow Jesus Christ’s example and serve others? 2. John 13:18-30 What is the significance of Jesus’ foreknowledge about his upcoming
betrayal by Judas Iscariot? 3. Job 40:1-24 How does the LORD reveal to Job the utter futility of trying to contend
with God? 4. John 13:31-38 How does our love for one another bear witness to the world that we
are disciples of Jesus? 5. John 14:1-14 Do I believe that salvation and peace with God come only through
Jesus who is the way, the truth and the life?

BELL RINGING CALLING US TO WORSHIP PRELUDE WELCOME AND PARISH OPPORTUNITIES CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsively) L: Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. P: Happy are those to whom the LORD imputes no iniquity, in whose spirit there is no deceit. L: While I kept silence, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. P: For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. L: Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and did not hide my iniquity; P: I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin. (Psalm 32:1-5, NRSV) *HYMN #400 “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
*INVOCATION: (in unison) Sovereign Lord, you send forth the rain and snow to renew the face of the ground so that plants blossom and flourish. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD THIS YEAR’S GOAL—160 BOXES!
Every year, Samaritan’s Purse delights millions of children around the world by delivering shoebox gifts. The story doesn’t end with the box - that’s just the beginning for a child and their family to learn about Jesus. There are 2 tables with supplies and information to help you in packing shoeboxes this year. One is in the Welcome Area and the other is upstairs in the hall of the Children’s Dept.. You will find: ∗ Shoeboxes - Take 1, 2,3, or 4 ∗ Brochures/lists with ideas and gift suggestions (made or bought) ∗ Boy/Girl labels to put on the box ∗ Envelope for a $9.00 donation (if you are able) to help with shipping costs I will also have a big box at the Welcome Area to drop in any extra items to fill a box or I can pack a box for you with your gifts. Collection of boxes will be November 3rd, 10th, and 17th. With prayer and God’s help we can do 160 boxes this year! Remember every shoebox offers an opportunity to share the love of Jesus with children and their families. What a great global outreach ministry program! Shoebox gifts make an eternal difference in a child and their family’s lives.
