Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

We have talked about stewardship as a way of life for the past several years. But what does that really mean? Stewardship is not an option just for the wealthy in our archdiocese; it is for all of us. Stewardship is a response of faith; it is simply what I do with what I have when I believe in God.

Last year saw a remarkable increase of 22 percent in participation in the United Catholic Appeal. More than 1,000 members of the Miter Society throughout central and southern Indiana contributed $2.7 million of the more than $6.2 million raised by the appeal, representing an amazing 43 percent of all the gifts received! These gifts are already doing God’s work in ministries and programs that depend on your generosity to survive and thrive.

One hundred percent (100%) of your gift directly supports ministries and programs that strengthen Catholic education and faith formation, encourage vocations by educating our seminarians and deacons and sustaining our retired priests, and caring for people most in need across the 39 counties of the Archdiocese.

Our ministries and programs depend on your sacrificial giving. The United Catholic Appeal is an opportunity for all of us to express our compassion for others. As you prayerfully decide how you will share the many blessings that God has given you, I invite you to join me in becoming a member of the United Catholic Appeal Miter Society.

I am encouraged by your abundant generosity, which is a humble and grateful response to God who loved you first.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R.Archbishop of Indianapolis
