was made by God…. A model called PRAYER. It never loses its signal. The recharging is done by the Holy Spirit and sending TEXT is through the Bible. When we spread His word around the GLOBE, we are not only SMART, but we are brighter than the SUN.

Jesus tells a parable about persistence in praying. He said, “There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any person. A widow in that town used to come to him and say , ` Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’ For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, `While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps bothering I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.’ The Lord said, “ Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says. God is LifeBy Susan Amoroso

“God did not create death. Do not bring on your own death by sinful actions. God did not invent death, and when living creatures die, it gives him no pleasure. He created everything so that it might continue to exist, and everything he created is wholesome and good. There is no deadly poison in them. No, death does not rule this world. For God’s justice does not die.

Ungodly people have brought death on themselves by the things they have said and done. They yearn death for death as if it were a lover. They have gone into partnership with death, and it is just what they deserve.’’ ( Wisdom1: 12-16)

“The Destiny of the Righteous. But the righteous people are protected by God and will never suffer torment. It is a foolish mistake to think that righteous people die and that their death is a terrible evil. They leave but it is not a disaster. In fact, the righteous are at peace. It might appear that they have suffered punishment but they have the confident hope of immortality…. God has tested them like gold in the furnace, and found them worthy to be with him. He has accepted them just as He accepts the sacrifices which his worshippers burn on the altar.’’ (Wisdom3: 1-6)

How true are these words. God is life. He is a creator, not a destroyer. God is so good and he will not wish death and suffering to his chosen ones, his worshippers and followers. God is love. Any one who truly loves will not wish death on his loved ones. God is life, light and energy. Eternal life is given to those who are followers of Christ. It is the reward of God’s faithful servants.

Our sufferings, devastation, hunger, thirst and death, loneliness is not caused by God but by our sins through deeds and words.

to answer them? I tell you he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on earth? (Luke 18:1-8)

Jesus said this parable to emphasize the need to pray always. It is the faith in us, our trust and confidence that God will answer our prayers if we persist. Praying strengthens our faith. A priest wrote: “prayer is a reminder that God insists , while we persist.’’

Let us not lose hope in whatever circumstance we are in. If we think we are losing our battles in life and have lost everything, the more we should pray. Not only should we pray for ourselves but we should pray for each other especially for our suffering brothers and sisters in Eastern Visayas devastated by typhoon Yolanda.

Day for fasting, praying and penance for the victims of supertyphoon Yolanda

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle appointed yesterday, a Saturday, November 16 as

the day of prayer, penance and fasting for victims of supertyphoon Yolanda. At 8 p.m. yesterday the Cardinal led the prayer service and holy hour at the San Fernando de Dilao Parish Church located in front of the Paco Catholic School, Paco, Manila.

The Cardinal’s message: “We are one with our suffering brothers and sisters. You are not alone and will never be alone.’’

In solidarity for the victims, the Manila Archbishop called on the priests, religious and lay faithful to spend the day as a “Day of lament and hope: Solidarity in Prayer. (Panaghoy at Pag-asa: Damayan sa Panalangin)

He also called on the parishes to conduct a second collection for the typhoon victims and to mobilize and coordinate efforts and resources to help the victims more efficiently. Earlier Pope Francis offered prayers saying the whole Catholic Church is one in praying for the victims. Vatican donated US$150,000 to help the parishes victimized by the supertyphoon, the most devastating typhoon recorded ever to hit the earth.

There is scientific truth that global warming causes climactic changes such as super typhoons and tsunamis. Man by his selfish actions has degraded the earth, caused the destruction of the earth’s resources and pollutes the air and the waters. Many calamities are manmade and if man had only learned to respect his environment, man could have escaped death and the devastation of his land.

The Bible is replete with stories and wisdom to remind us of how wicked actions, thoughts and words cause destruction and death.

Let us reflect on the events and happenings of our times! Let us seek God’s wisdom and protection by doing what is right and just. Let us humble ourselves and pray to God, our creator for protection and healing. Let us pray to our Mother Mary, the mother of our savior Jesus Christ to help us, intercede for us and cover us with the mantle of her protection.

It is not the natural calamities that we must seek protection from. Let us pray for protection from the evils that roam the earth . Mary, mother of perpetual help, pray for us and protect us.

Let us pray the chaplet of Divine Mercy. Pray the

Our Father…. Hail Mary… the Apostles’ Creed.

On the large beads of the Rosary let us pray:“Eternal Father, we offer you the Body and Blood,

Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.’’

On the small beads: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy

on us and on the whole world.’’

Conclude with: “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,

Have mercy on us and on the whole world. (3X) Amen.Jesus, King of Mercy, We trust in You.’’ Let us pray to our Mother of Perpetual Help.“O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have

recourse to thee.”

“No man is an island”

Communication is an essential tool for us to understand and to be understood, to show love and respect others; these are just some of the reason why communication is important in our daily lives. Do we really know how to communicate effectively? Do we have the mastery in using this craft? If yes, why there is war in some places and misunderstanding? If no, what could be the possible reason behind?

According to some books, communication has different forms and here are some in random order. Mass communication occurs when extremely large groups receive information only with the use of media as the channel such as television, radio, newspaper, bill board, telephone, computer and internet. Public communication has significant use in the society, economy and politics. This form of communication seeks an outcome and must have an impact on the audience. Interpersonal communication is the most commonly used. It is a process by which people exchange information and feelings with each other. Last, indeed one of the most important is the intrapersonal communication. It is a communication that involves yourself and your mind. This communication starts from within or from the inside. It teaches you to think first before you act. Be sensitive and try to put your foot in other’s shoes for you to understand them. Always think good thoughts! What you think is what you say and what you say is what you put into actions. Living in this world will be a burden if we are alone, live life to the fullest. Love and understand one another. Learn to be an inspiration even in your smallest deeds because other people can also be a great inspiration to you too.

Respect is also an important element of communication. Our diversity is not reason for us to underestimate and not to understand other differences. We may come from diverse culture and therefore we have different beliefs, values and principle but if we respect others we will learn to understand them.

Each of us must be sensible and responsible in our thoughts, words and actions. These are just some of the lessons that I personally learned from the activity given to us by our reputable mentors last Saturday, November 9, 2013 held at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.

“None of us lives alone nor dies alone. If we live, we live for the Lord and if we die, we die for the Lord. Either in life or in death we belong to the Lord”
