A huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone involved with the

planning, preparations, presentations and participation

for this weekend’s celebrations as we mark 50 years

since the Consecration of Waiapu Cathedral.

A special thanks to the organisers, spear-headed by

Alison Thomson and Murray & Judy Mills;

to the speaker, presenter, presider, and preacher;

to the flower teams, the catering & serving teams;

The Reverend John Shallard

It has been announced that, sadly, the Rev-erend John Shallard died early last week due to a long period of illness.

John was ordained in 1980 in Waiapu, and served in as a Curate Assistant in Rotorua from 1980 to 1984. Following his curacy he served as Vicar at Opotiki from 1984 to 1989 and Vicar of Taupo from 1989 to 1996 before leaving Waiapu to take up ministry in the Wellington Diocese. He shifted to Auckland in 2014 and has wor-shipped at St Paul’s, Te Atatu, where his support and ministry has been greatly ap-preciated. His funeral was held on Thurs-day.

We thank God for his life and his ministry, and offer our prayers for Kitty and their family.
