H OW TO USE TH I S JO UR NAL

PRAYER JOURNAL

“Praying for Revival”, includes 40 Scripture based

prayer prompts, each featuring a Bible verse, a

word of encouragement and a prayer. There is

also plenty of space for you to journal your own

personal prayer.

Every few days you will also find a blank journal

page for you to keep track of your personal Prayer

Needs.

We encourage you to begin on day one and spend

time each day following in prayer, all the way to

the completion on day forty.

This may seem a bit of a challenge, I get it. Person-

ally, I would be more likely to read the whole book

over the weekend. But, doing that would cause

me to miss out on the real purpose of reading it

over 40 days.

The building of a daily habit of prayer and

the deepening of a relationship with God.

The journal is broken into smaller 10 day

sections featuring a variety of topical scriptures

and prayers.

Also every ten days, you will find a devotional,

more of a personal testimony really, meant to

encourage you on this 40 day prayer journey.

DEVOTIONS

If we are going to be Praying for Revival, it’s

important we understand just what we are asking

God to do.

In “REVIVAL IS:” I reflect upon the personal calling

God placed upon my heart to seek Him specifically

for revival.

In “SILENCE & SURRENDER IN PRAYER”,

Jodie Barrett encourages us to continue meeting

with God in prayer even when we have no words.

She shares how when grief stole her words, sitting

in silence with God became a beautiful place of

sanctuary.

In “PRAY MORE, WORRY LESS”, Mitzi Neely

reminds us that God is our trusted caretaker and

spending time with Him in prayer is the cure for

anxiety and worry.

In “HOW PRAYER CULTIVATES INTIMACY

WITH GOD”, Melanie Davis Porter shares with

us that even though establishing a fervent prayer

life is hard, it is worth it to know the character of

God. Only through prayer will we build an authen-

tic, intimate relationship with God.

ENCOURAGEMENT

Sprinkled throughout the whole book you will find

special pages of encouragement.

They may include a HIGHLIGHTED SCRIPTURE.

This is a verse I encourage us all to commit to

memory.

You will also find PRAYERS from our authors.

Some prayers need more space than the journal

pages. Instead of omitting them, we pray they

provide you with encouragement or help when

you may be having a difficult time finding your

own words.

Rest alludes us. The heaviness of the world’s questions and problems crush our spirit and leave us with anxiety, worry, and depression. Unexpected circumstances and heartache leave us burdened. Jesus offers an invitation for the weary and burdened to come and receive the rest our souls long to experience.

Have you accepted this invitation or are you carrying the “weight of the world on your shoulders?” As you pray for a personal revival, keep company with Jesus daily and allow Him to teach you. Just as He invites us to come and find rest in Matthew 11:28, He also says to learn from Him in Matthew 11:29. The Teacher is waiting to show you grace and give you rest .

Lord, the weight of the world was never mine to carry. You say come. You offer rest for our souls. Help me rest in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It has been said that prayer is for the soul like breathing is for the body. How can our soul be healthy without prayer, without communication with our spiritual life source, God our Heavenly Father? I ask that knowing full well I am more prayer wimp than prayer warrior. I long to be faithful in prayer like Daniel. Prayer is such a beautiful gift from God, that we may approach Him and converse with Him at any time. God wants to spend time with us.

If you already have a faithful prayer routine, I want to celebrate and encourage your continued consistency. If you are like me, let’s commit to developing a consistent daily prayer time with God.

Father God, it amazes me that You would want to spend time with me. Thank You for the gift of prayer and forgive me for not being faithful in meeting with You. Give me a desire to spend time with You in prayer and a heart of compassion to intercede on other’s behalf. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Without prayer, there can be no revival. If we are burdened as a body to pray for the lost, then prayer will lead to revival in the Church. Praying for the lost is a matter of life and death. We must care for our lost neighbor’s eternity as we would care for our own.

Father, cultivate a desire in our hearts to pray for those who don’t know You. Give us a burden to care for our fellowman’s eternity. Strip away the places in our hearts that are hardened to indifference. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to pay the price

for our sins and bring us into a relationship with Him. (John 3:16) Through Christ, we

can know the promise of eternal life and experience the joy of knowing God here on

earth!

If you would like to have a relationship with God, the Bible tells us that the first step is

acknowledging that we have sinned and that there is nothing we can do to earn God’s

love (Romans 3:23-26). Next, we believe and confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9)

and allow Him to guide our lives.

Where we once wanted to control our own future, we now invite Jesus into our hearts

to be Lord over our lives.

Knowing God’s peace, perspective and purpose for your life begins with a personal

relationship with Jesus.

Would you like to accept Jesus as Lord of your life? You can pray the following prayer:

Lord, I confess that I have sinned against You and ask You to forgive me. I’m sorry that my sin has hurt You and other people in my life. I acknowledge that I could never earn salvation by my good works, but I come to You and trust in what Jesus did for me on the cross. I believe that You love me and that Jesus died and rose again so that I can be forgiven and come to know You. I ask You to come into my heart and be Lord of my life. I trust You with everything, and I thank You for loving me so much that I can know You here on earth and spend the rest of eternity with You in heaven. In Jesus name, Amen
