Acts 2:1-4 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Leviticus 23:16-18, 21 (NKJV) “Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord.” Verse 21: “And you shall proclaim on the same day that it is a holy convocation to you. You shall do no customary work on it.”

Hosea 14:2 “Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.” “

Isaiah 28: 11-12 “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, this is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing; yet they would not hear.”

John 7:37-39 “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, if any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified”

Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Acts 1:4-5, 8 “And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith he, ye have heard of me. “For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Verse 8: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…”

Acts 2:1-4: “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

Can you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit without speaking in tongues?

Peter preaching to Cornelius Acts 10:43-45 “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive the remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

How did they know the Gentiles received the Spirit? Verse 46: “For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.”

Paul speaking to believers in Ephesus Acts 19:2-6 “He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

Acts 19:5-6 “When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”

Paul clearly tells us praying in the Spirit is praying in tongues. 1 Cor 14:2 “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” Verse 4: “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.”

Page 18: Praying In the Holy Spirit Pt 1

Verse 14-15: “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.”

Page 19: Praying In the Holy Spirit Pt 1

Verse 18-19 “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.”

Romans 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of he Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

I John 5:14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

Psalm 105:37 “He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.”
