PRD
CPD…PRD What is the best CPD you
have had and why? What makes PRD
Successful?
PU comes from Teaching Scotland’s Future, Public Services Reform (GTC Scotland) Order 2011 (Section 31), GTC Scotland independence April 2012
Standards of qualification and practice
high – no link with competence
Avoiding bureaucracy; building blocks already there
Principles – teachers take responsibility for own development, entitled to supportive PRD, able to confirm they meet expected Standards
What does PU involve?
• Validation of SBC PU arrangements with GTCS (PRD/CPD)
• Annual updating of teacher’s personal details in My GTCS
• Participation in CPD(CLPL) and PRD
• On-line record keeping • Sign off every 5 years
by teacher and reviewer
PU
