•The Election of 1800 Debate…It’s 1800, it’s time to pick a new president. Will it be a Federalist or Democratic-Republicans?

•The class will be divided into 2 groups: Federalists & Democratic-Republicans

•The Federalist will select someone to be Alexander Hamilton and the Democratic-Republican will select someone to be Thomas Jefferson

•That person will create a 3-minute speech outlining their party’s main ideas. Be prepared to give the speech at the debate.

•Within the Federalists and Democratic-Republicans groups, you will be divided into sub-groups

•Within each sub-group:

1. Create a sign with a symbol and a slogan explaining your party’s position, be persuasive (this is a formative grade)

2. Assign each person a topic from the list. Each person will research and prepare 1 argument with facts, quotes, details, and/or examples for each in your own words.

3. On an index card, write names of group members and who is doing what.
