CLARIFICATIONS

1.1) All RFIs are to be sent to [email protected]. Copy [email protected] and [email protected].

1.2) Pre-Bid RFI Question #1:

a) The 4000 series raceway, the devices come out of the front. DS4000 was used on the other Edison project and there is a price difference. Please advise which one to use.

1. CLARIFICATION: The specification calls for 4000 series or approved equal.

The DS4000 is approved as an equal.


a) There is no teacher’s desk location yet they are calling for three HDMI cables in the spec. Where are the other two HDMI cables going?

1. CLARIFICATION: The three HDMI ports on the custom faceplate connect to

inputs on the television. These are for connection of additional devices (laptops,

tablets, etc) to the TV display. There is not a separate teacher desk location for

additional ports.


a) Plywood backer board: Can it stop prior to the wire mold so there is not a transition of elevations?

1. ADD plywood furring strips behind wire mold, flush with plywood backer board.


a) The commissioning spec does not call out what the requirements are for the teaching wall assembly. Please advise.

1. CLARIFICATION: Contract 501 is responsible for all testing indicated on the

attached pre-functional checklists.


a) Do the data outlets shown (2D) at the majority of the new teaching walls require two new data cables, or are we re-using existing? It is confusing because the keynote says the data wiring must be re-used, but the 2D symbol makes it seem like we may need to provide two additional cables.

1. CLARIFICATION: The design intent is to re-use existing data cabling. If a run

of cable needs to be lengthened, then it needs to be pulled back to its source and

re-wired to the device. No splicing of data cabling is allowed. An allowance has

been established for this.


a) Who furnishes the custom A/V faceplate? Spec says Contractor, drawing keynotes say Owner.

1. CLARIFICATION: The custom faceplate is provided by the Owner and

installed by contract 501.


a) The schedule on E000 makes it clear that the RCSD is furnishing speakers, volume controls, amplifier, and TBU units. Who is responsible for the cost associated with the head end upgrade, submittals, programming, testing and any other tech. time for the PA system?

1. CLARIFICATION: The Owner is providing all necessary parts for the PA

system. Contract 501 is responsible for providing new wiring and all labor to

install new PA system devices.


b) Manufacturer of new boiler breaching recommends four guywires per stack, existing there are two per stack. Do we need to provide additional guywire anchors?

1. CLARIFICATION: Yes, provide one anchor per manufacturer recommended

guywire. If allowed by the manufacturer, existing anchors may be doubled up on,

thus providing four points of anchorage for each stack.

CHANGES TO THE DRAWINGS

1.10) SED Addendum #1:

The State Education Department requested some revisions to our documents. The

following changes have been made:

a) Drawing E401

1. REMOVE drawing E401 in its entirety.

2. ADD attached drawing E401. Lights were added to emergency power.
