Determine Door Handing 1.1 Decide if door is to open from the left or right. 1.2 To determine your correct handing, stand on the inside of the room. Place your jamb in the opening with hinge knuckle facing you. 1.3 Conﬁrm and mark the top of the jamb for cutting. 2. Measure for cutting 2.1 Measure from the top of the hinge plate (not hinge knuckle) and mark. IMPORTANT: Ensure you have the correct tools and PPE for the job. Use the table below for measurements. 2.2 Square off and mark both the hinge and closing stiles, ensure jambs are level when making your final cut. 4. You may require help to move the door if it is too heavy. 6.3 Ensure equal margins around the jamb set. Pack the closing stile if needed and nail to stud. 6.5 (Loose stop only) With the door in position and the jamb fixed off measure, mark out and cut the stop beads. Fit the hinge side first. Ensure equal margin (recommend 2mm) between door and the stop. Repeat this process for head stop and closing stop.
